Coach Prosper Natteh Ogum has named his starting lineup for Kotoko’s first preseason game in Dubai against Al Hilal United FC

The Ghanaian giants are in the United Arab Emirates for a two-week preseason tour ahead of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League.

The game kicksoff 4:30 am local time.

Kwame Kyei’s resignation request rejected by Manhyia

The Porcupine Warriors owner has rejected the decision of the board of chairman to resign

Asante Kotoko owner Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has turned down the decision of board chairman Kwame Kyei to resign from his position.

Following a the board members meeting with Otumfuo on Tuesday at the Manhyia Palace to discuss the club’s future, Kyei suggested that he was ready to quit his position for peace to prevail.

However, reports from Manhyia have revealed that the paramount chief has rejected Kyei’s decision to quit the position.

Although, the oil mogul believes there is a grand scheme by some board members and supporters to taint his image, it is believed that the paramount chief has assured him that everything will be sorted out.

Kyei is said to have had a bad blood between him and chief executive officer Nana Yaw Amponsah and the duo have not spoken for almost three months.

According to reports from Manhyia, the king is highly impressed with how Kyei led the club between 2018 and 2020 as he won trophies and never worried the Palace of financial support.

According to reports in the local media, some of the board members decided to impeached him and successfully conducted a vote of no confidence in September after he had sought permission at one of their meetings.

Kyei took over Kotoko in 2018 ad guided the club to win 2019 Normalisation Committee Cup, FA Cup as well as guiding them to reach the group stage of the Caf Confederation Cup for the first time in a decade.

Kotoko are currently in United Arab Emirates, Dubai, for pre-season and will arrive in the country on October 22 before the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season kicks off a week later.

The Porcupine Warriors board chairman has reportedly stepped down from the club after a crunch meeting with the club’s owner

Asante Kotoko board chairman Opanin Kwame Kyei has opted to resign from his position from the club following a meeting held at Manhyia Palace on Tuesday.

All the club’s board members met Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to thrash out issues related to the club and although, the paramount chief of the Asante kingdom advised them to allow bygones be bygones and forge forward as one, reports are rife that Kwame Kyei has stepped down.

According to AshesGyamera’s sources, Kyei decided to call it a quit because he felt he is gradually becoming an unpopular figure in the club’s ranks following a well executed agenda against him.

The oil mogul believes there is a grand scheme by some members of the board and supporters to taint his image, therefore, he has decided to resign.

Although, it was Kyei who masterminded Amponsah’s coming, reports suggest the latter defied some of the orders of the board members and went against several advises he gave him which has led to the uneasiness between them.

However, Otumfuo Osei Tutt II is yet to accept the resignation or reject it.

Also, Kotoko won FA Cup under his tutelage in 2018 after they defeated Hearts of Oak in the Final in Tamale, as well as guiding them to reach the group stage of the Caf Confederation Cup for the first time in a decade.

Ghanaian presidential candidate on 2020 election Kofi Akpaloo has promised to reward every Hearts of Oak player Gh.1000 cedis,if they beat WAC on Sunday in the CAF competition.

Hearts of Oak head coach Samuel Boadu will be entitled to Gh.2000 cedis after a victory against the Moroccan side .

“I will give every Hearts player Gh.1000 cedis,if they beat WAC of Morocco on Sunday, and 2000 to the head coach.

“So far as Hearts of Oak is a Ghanaian team,it’s my prayer they progress to the next stage of the competition.

“They should go all out the Phobian spirit as they did to win the Ghana premier League.

He made this promised when speaking to one Kumasi radio station OTEC.

Hearts of Oak to host WAC of Morocco in the first leg at Accra Sports on Sunday, 17th October 2021.

Alexander Djiku Suspended For Ethiopia Clash.

Ghana Defender Alexander Djiku is suspended for next month world cup qualifying match against Ethiopia.

Djiku booked up his second yellow card in the game on Tuesday when black stars beat Zimbabwe and will not be available for selection in Addis Ababa.

His absence is a big blow and it will cause big problem for black stars since he has been consistent for the team on recent times.

The Strasbourg center back, has been a starter for the team in the qualification and boast of two clean sheets.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have officially announced the signing of Former Berekum Chelsea captain Stephen Amankona.

Asante Kotoko have agreed the agreement of his former club fee around Gh.150,000 and personal terms too was successfully done.

“We are delighted to announce the signing of Stephen Amankona on three-year deal from Berekum Chelsea.

Asante Kotoko unveiled him on their official social media handle Tuesday after all his document settled ,as his former team to announced his departured.

Stephen Amankona 21 was outstanding on the Ghana premier League last season for Berekum Chelsea with 10 goals, 5 Assists out of 28 games.

Andre Ayew Confirms Why He Started From Bench.

Ghana Captain Andre Ayew missed the 2022 world cup qualifying game against Zimbabwe on Tuesday due to injury, he picked during training ahead of the match.

The AL Sadd star named on the bench by coach Milovan Rajevac as they faced the worriors at the National stadium in Harere.

Andre Ayew 31 picked groin injury during the final training ahead of the match .

He was introduced in the game in the 86th minutes after replacing Mohammed Kudus.

“It was not an easy time and game for me and the other players ,but we are in a period where I have to be there for the team and every point is important. But there are sometimes you have to up a collective decision.

“I think the boss did the right thing by dropping me in the game. We spoke about the injury I was nursing and I am just so happy that we have points.

“I hope that we will continue like this against Ethiopia and the other game and I believe victory will be ours.Ghana will qualify for the world cup.

The Skipper confirm all this statement to the media after the game.

Black Stars picked all the three maximum points by scoring a lone goal by Thomas Partey.

2022 WCQ: Check why Andre Ayew was benched in Ghana’s win against Zimbabwe

Ghana captain Andre Ayew has explained why he was benched in the team’s 0-1 win against Zimbabwe in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Stars grabbed the victory via Thomas Partey’s free-kick strike in the 30th minute.

Ayew started the important fixture from the bench but  featured for five minutes after replacing Kudus Mohammed.

“It was not an easy time and game for us but we are in a period where I have to be there for the team and every point is important but there are sometimes you have to up a collective decision,” Ayew told the media after the game.

“I think the boss did the right thing [by benching me in the game]. We spoke about the injury I was nursing and I’m just so happy that we have the points.

“I hope that we will continue like this against Ethiopia and the other game and I believe victory will be ours. Ghana will surely qualify for the World Cup,” he added.

Ghana went top of the Group G table with nine points but a win for South Africa will drop the Black Stars back to second on the standings.

Thomas Partey scored the decisive goal as Ghana secured back-to-back victories over Zimbabwe in Group G of the African qualifiers to the 2022 Fifa World Cup.

Three days ago, the Black Stars recorded a 3-1 win in the first meeting between the two at Cape Coast then continued a fine start for returnee coach Milovan Rajevac with a crucial 1-0 result at the National Sports Stadium in Harare Tuesday afternoon.
