Ghanaian international and Orlando Pirates forward Kwame Peprah has expressed shock over his Black Stars snub for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers and the four nation tournament in Japan.

According to the former King Faisal goal poacher, he has done enough to earn a call-up looking at his statistics in his debut season in the South African premier league.

“Looking at my statistics and performances for Orlando Pirates this season, I think I have done enough to have a call up. It’s also about time.”

“The management and officials at the FA knows best, so I think in due time, I will get a call up”, he told 3sports.

Peprah further opened up on their CAF Confederations Cup final loss. According to him, it was very disappointing looking at how hard they’ve worked to get to the finals.

“We went all out for the trophy. We came top in the group stages and went through the quarter and semi-finals only to lose at the finals.

It’s very disappointing and I still feel bad. I know next season we will win more trophies for the club”.

Kwame Peprah joined Pirates from Ghana premier league side King Faisal on a two-year deal worth $150,000 last season.

He has scored 7goals in 25appearances for the Buccaneers.

Asante Kotoko goalkeeper, Danlad Ibrahim has been handed late invitation to the Black Stars for four-nation tournament in Japan.

Danlad has replaced Richard Ofori who is out of the team after aggravating his hamstring injury while at training.

Ofori wss part of the Black Stars squad the defeated Madagascar in the opening game of the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Cape Coast last Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars have landed in Central African Republic for the second game of the qualifiers on June 5 without Celta Vigo defender Joseph Aidoo due to injury.

Ghana after playing Central African Republic will travel to Japan for a four-nation tournament against Chile, Tunisia and the host country from 10-14, 2022.

The tournament will serve as preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after beating Nigeria in the final playoff round.

Board member of Asante Kotoko football Club, Alhaji Abu Lamini has stated that he is not in the position to tell if the coach of the team, Dr.Prosper Narteh Ogum will lead the for the CAF Champions League.

Asante Kotoko won the Ghana Premier League title for a record 24times following their 1-1 draw with Ashanti Gold at Obuasi Len Clay stadium on Thursday.

The Porcupine Warriors clinched the title with three matches left to play as they sit at the summit of the league table with 60 points.

This is Asante Kotoko’s first Ghana Premier League title in seven years, having last won it in 2014. Winning the league means Kotoko will represent Ghana in the 2022/23 CAF Champions League.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Hot 93.9FM’s ‘Focal Sports’ show, Alhaji Abu Lamini ,while answering a question in line with whether management of the team would maintain the current head Coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum in order to lead the team to participate in the CAF Champions league, said:

“I can’t really tell for now…The decision to retain coach Prosper Narteh as head coach going to Africa will depend on the board”.

The ardent board member of the Current League Champions added that, “The board in our next meeting will decide on that”.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah has urged the government to support the club with $1 million in bid to succeed in Africa next season.

The Porcupine Warriors emerged as winners of the Ghana Premier League with three matches left to play to the end of the season.

By virtue of winning the league title, Kotoko will represent Ghana at next year’s CAF Champions League.

Ghanaian clubs have consistently struggled to make an impact in Africa in recent years, failing to progress to the group stages of CAF’s inter-club competitions as Hearts of Oak were eliminated in the second round of qualifying last season.

“If the government of the day is able to devote 6-8 million dollars for Afcon for the Black Stars to go and represent Ghana, then why can’t the government help a team like Kotoko or Hearts or whoever wins the league with a $1 million support to go and lift high the flag of Ghana,” Nana Yaw Amponsah said.

“What is the prize of winning the league? It’s about 250,000 Ghana cedis which is about $30,000 and that cannot even be used to play one home match. So the prize money is not there, no sponsorship for the league.

He added, “I would like to send a message to the entire nation, his Excellency the President, the government of the day. Ghana used to have four slots on the continent but now we have two due to the fact that we don’t really perform well when we go.”

“When Kotoko goes to Africa this time, we are not just going as Kotoko, we are going to represent Ghana.”

Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum side’s will be crowned champions of their 25th Premier League title on Sunday June 12, 2022 when they host Elmina Sharks on match week 33.

All players registered by Asante Kotoko SC for their 2021/22 Ghana Premier League campaign will pocket sum of $5,000 for winning the League.

The Ghanaian heavyweights has won the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title with three games to spare. They will officially be crown winners on Sunday at their home grounds Baba Yara Sports Stadium when they host Elmina Sharks FC in match day 33 fixture.

Cheif Executive Officer (CEO) of the side, Nana Yaw Amponsah has confirmed each Kotoko player is set to pocket $5,000 and some other lucrative packages for winning the giants trophy.

The Reds having now clinched the league title for record 26 times will represent the country in the CAF Champions League next season.

“There are so many packages for them. Even a single board member has promised them five thousand dollars each ($5000)”

“He is a man of Honour and a man of his word, Mr Kwasi Fori which I know he’ll fulfill”, he told Akoma FM.

“But we have a special bonus structures for the players and we are going to sit with the board to plan a special package for them.” He added.

Head coach of Asante Kotoko Prosper Narteh Ogum has advised some football loving fans to stop envying his post.

Ogum who has led Kotoko to win the 2021/22 league title says the job is a difficult one and you need the favour of God to be able to execute it perfectly.

He advised many to never envy any Kotoko coach because of the pressure of being at the helm of affairs.

“It’s not easy to be a Kotoko head coach, if you’re anywhere envying any head coach of Kotoko you better stop it. The heat is not as easy as you see it. So I thank God for giving me the knowledge to manage such a great club to success.”

Kotoko needed at least a point from Ashantigold to be crowned champions of the 2021/22 League season.

The game rather started on a bad note for them as a mistake by the Kotoko defence saw Yaw Annor open the scoring in the 11th minute.

This was his 20th goal of the season and he’s now joint top scorer with Frank Mbella of Kotoko.

The Porcupine Warriors had to fight back hard and were rewarded for their effort in the 66th minute. A freekick from Imoro Ibrahim saw defender Maxwell Agyemang head in to make it 1-1 and that was the final score.

The draw means Kotoko have 60 points with three games to end the season and have won the league because second placed team Bechem United have 50 points.
