Asante Kotoko will face Tanzanian powerhouse Simba SC in a friendly on Sunday, August 28, 2022 in a friendly ahead of the 2022/23 season.

The International friendly will be played in Sudan where Asante Kotoko are having the second phase of their preseason.

The Porcupine Warriors arrived in Sudan on Monday morning and they are billed to play Sudanese champions Al Hilal in a friendly on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at the Hilal Stadium.

They were scheduled to travel to Turkey for the second phase of their preseason but cancelled the trip for Sudan due to delays’s in visa acquisition.

Newly appointed coach Seydou Zerbp will have the opportunity to assess his players against a crack side.

Simba SC announced the scrimmage on their social media pages and it will be played at the Al Hilal Stadium.

Both teams will represent their respective country in the 2022/23 Caf Champions League scheduled to commence next month.

Ronald Frimpong signs new contract with Real Tamale United

Real Tamale United striker Augustine Ronald Frimpong has signed a new contract with the northern giants ahead of the 2022/23 season. 

The experienced forward has decided to stay for another season, after emerging as the club’s best player last term.

Frimpong has signed a one-year contract extension with the Blues.

The 30-year-old was expected to leave due to interest from clubs in the country, particularly local rivals Tamale City FC and Medeama SC.

He scored nine goals and assisted on nine others for RTU last season.

The club fought hard for survival in their first season back in the Ghana Premier League and will hope to make a strong case again in the coming season.

Asante Kotoko have officially announced the signing versatile defender Sheriff Mohammed from lower-tier side EuroAfrica.

The centre-back, who uses both legs well, is also a former player of Division One League side Liberty.

He has signed a three-year deal with the Porcupine Warriors.

He has been training with the Porcupine Warriors since the commencement of their pre-season activities in Accra ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Asante Kotoko have announced the signing of forward, Nicholas Mensah in the ongoing transfer window.

The youngster joined the Porcupine Warriors on a three year deal from division two side Delsanco FC.

Mensah has been training with the team ahead of the new season.

Mensah is touted as one of most promising strikers in the country currently and a a player to watch anytime he is on the field. His movements, mobility infront of the penalty box, his eye for goal, his pace, power and the ability of winning aerial duels are some of his qualities.

The 19-year- old young striker was crowned the top scorer in the just 2020/21 B.A RFA second division with 14 goals and 7 assists in 18 games and scored 3 goals and made 1 assist in the Mddle league.

The young striker played 21games last season, scoring 17 goals and assisting 8 times for his team Delsanco FC.

Mensah will become Asante Kotoko’s ninth signing in this transfer window after Frederick Asare, Steven Mukwala, Ernest Osei Poku, Moise Pouaty, Eric Serge, Enoch Morrison and Thomas Pele.

Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak have completed the signing of former TP Mazembe midfielder, Prince Nana Kwesi Darmang.

The 24-year-old joins the Phobians on a three-year deal as a free agent.

Darmang last played for DR Congo side Don Bosco before making a return to the Ghana Premier League to join the MTN FA Cup champions.

Ghanaian international, Umar Bashiru appears set to finally agree to a new contract deal with Karela United, according to reports in the media.

It is reported that, the player won’t join Asante Kotoko and that full agreement has been reached with Aiyinase-based club over a new deal that will see the 25-year-old accept an improved salary to continue his career at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park.

Reports: Asante Kotoko captain Abdul Ganiyu asks for contract termination

Asante Kotoko captain, Ismail Abdul Ganiyu has been left out of the Kotoko team that travelled to Sudan for their pre-season game with AL-Hilal.

The defender, according to Kessben Sports, apparently asked for his contract to be terminated by the club despite having another year to spare.

Sources within the club say Ganiyu who extended his contract for Kotoko for 2 years in last September wrote to the club for a move away.

Snippets information gathered indicates Ganiyu’s decision was informed by his quest to see an increment in his wage.

Kotoko were initially scheduled to travel to Turkey for their pre-season campaign but due to challenges in Visa acquisition, the club had to cancel the European training tour.

The Ghanaian champions arrived in Khartoum, Sudan on the early hours of today to continue with their preseason and will face Al Hilal Omdurman to test their strength heading into the new season.
