Nsoatreman FC began their first CAF Confederation Cup campaign with an impressive 3-0 win over TP Elect Sport of Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Led by their new coach, Yaw Preko, the Ghanaian team asserted control, especially towards the end of the first half.

The breakthrough came in the 31st minute when Abdul Rahman calmly scored the opening goal for Nsoatreman.

Just two minutes later, former Ghana U20 winger Kwabena Adu Meider increased their lead with a well-taken shot.

Rahman netted his second goal in the 36th minute, finishing off a low cross from Shaibu Iddrisu.

Elect Sport’s troubles deepened in the 54th minute when their goalkeeper, Mahamat Bechir, was sent off for handling the ball outside the penalty area.

Although Nsoatreman had a numerical advantage, they were unable to add to their tally, with Stephen Diyou striking the post in the 70th minute.

Goalkeeper Daniel Afazdwu made three vital saves to secure a clean sheet in Nsoatreman’s debut CAF Confederation Cup match.

The return leg is scheduled August 24, 2024, in N’Djamena, where Nsoatreman will aim to advance to the next round.

Antoine Semenyo scores in Bournemouth’s EPL opener against Nottingham Forest

Ghanaian striker Antoine Semenyo opened his goal-scoring tally for the new season by securing a late equalizer for AFC Bournemouth in their match against Nottingham Forest.

The Black Stars forward, who was in the starting lineup for the Cherries, found the back of the net with just four minutes left on the clock, nullifying the early lead set by the home team.

Nottingham Forest initially took the lead in the 23rd minute through Chris Wood, and although Bournemouth thought they had equalized when Dango Ouattara scored just after the half-hour mark, the goal was disallowed following a VAR review.

Despite this setback, Bournemouth kept up the pressure and were rewarded for their efforts in the closing stages when Semenyo scored from close range to secure a well-earned draw.

Semenyo is expected to step up and fill the gap left by Dominic Solanke, who transferred to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, even though Evanilson has also joined the squad from FC Porto.

Last season, Semenyo scored eight goals in the English Premier League.

Man Utd ‘not ready’ for Fulham – Ten Hag

0

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is concerned his team are “not ready” for Friday’s Premier League opener against Fulham.

New signings Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui will be in the squad but only arrived on Thursday.

They have had a limited chance to train with their new team-mates, leaving Ten Hag with a selection dilemma for the match at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, defender Luke Shaw has been sidelined with a calf injury, new £52m defender Leny Yoro was ruled out for three months at the beginning of August, and forward Rasmus Hojlund has a hamstring problem.

United committed to spending close to £60m by bringing defenders De Ligt and Mazraoui to the club from Bayern Munich.

“The team is not ready but the league starts,” said Ten Hag.

“There are more managers who definitely have this problem but we have to make a start.

“We can’t hide from it. We can’t run away from it. We have to deal with it.”

United’s other summer signing, Netherlands striker Joshua Zirkee, was an unused substitute during the Community Shield defeat by Manchester City and could make his debut against Fulham.
