Asante Kotoko are in advanced talks to re-sign former striker Kwame Opoku Nimo.
The 22-year-old joined Reds from Division One League club, Nkoranza Warriors in 2020 and quickly hit the ground running in his debut season before completing a move to USM Algers two seasons ago.
His career has been plaque with series of injuries since his move to Algeria and has been sent out on loan to many clubs to revive his career.
The Black Stars striker asked to leave USMA this summer, because he wanted a change of scenery to revive his career. However, a move to Saudi Arabian club Najran SC on a one-season loan last month with option to buy was unsuccessful as the club terminated the deal after just some few weeks.
The management of Asante Kotoko has however been engaging the 22-year-old striker for a possible return to the Porcupines with the player already interested in a move back home.

Hearts of Oak Head Coach, Samuel Boadu, says his charges are ready for Sunday’s epic clash against city rivals, Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The coach gave the assurance in the wake of the team’s opening season defeat to Aduana Stars on Sunday and Olympics’ recent run over the Phobians in the past two seasons.
In a post-match interview on Sunday, Boadu asked Phobian followers to put the early defeat behind and focus on matches ahead.
“There’s no need to dwell on the match we lost. We didn’t play badly at all. We had a very good game and created a number of scoring opportunities which we should have converted.”
“It was not a fair reflection of proceedings because we had the lion’s share of possession and threatened many more times. We paid dearly with a mistake we committed at the back. That’s football for you; you can play but when you fail to convert your chances, you can be punished,” Boadu said after the game.
Skipper of the home team, Bright Adjei scored the only goal of the match from a melee in the Hearts goal area.
It was a positive start for the Dormaa lads and their new Head Coach, Paa Kwasi Fabin.
But Boadu believes it was too early to think that could affect their championship aspiration since there are a lot of games ahead and the focus must be how to garner the points in the upcoming matches.
“We played very well. There were a lot of chances that could have changed our story-line if my strikers have found the net.”

The GHALCA Top Six won by Great Olympics after Asante Kotoko rejected the idea of playing in the competition and Hearts of Oak also failing to perform.
According to Nana Oduro Nyarko, the Porcupine’s decision not to partake in the competition affected their revenue, adding that the decision did not though affect the competitiveness of it.
He said: “If Kotoko had played in the competition, we would have gotten more money than we are getting now but as to whether it would have made the competition more competitive, i cant say for sure.
“In terms of money, Kotoko’s absence affected our revenue, but quality of play was not affected in any way.
“With the exception of Hearts of Oak game which gave us something in the region of 10,000Gh, all the others did not even yield 1000Gh.
“Ghalca games have been rightly captured in our books and it is binding on all clubs. We are yet to sit on the Kotoko pull out but its incumbent on all clubs to seek the welfare of their mother body.

Former Asante Kotoko striker Eric Bekoe has hailed enterprising winger Isaac Oppong for his exploits with the team.
The youngster scored a late winner for the Porcupine Warriors to mark his return to full fitness after struggling in the 2021/22 season due to injury setbacks.
Isaac Oppong found space in the box and slotted home at the death to give Kotoko an important first leg win in CAF Champions League preliminary round.
In an interview with Sunyani-based Union FM, the former Ghana Premier League goal king expressed Isaac Oppong is a revelation and is of the view he can become a top player if he is managed well.

Former Ghana international Prince Tagoe has reacted to Hearts of Oak defeat to Aduana Stars in the Ghana Premier League opener.
The Phobians suffered a 1-0 defeat at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Sunday as the domestic top-flight commenced in a grand style.
Bright Adjei’s goal in the 49th minute ensured the fire boys pick all point at stake in matchday 1 of the league season.
After the game, Tagoe, a former player of Hearts of Oak said the defeat will serve as a wake-up call to the team in subsequent games.
“I’m happy Hearts of Oak lost to Aduana. I believe it will wake them up in subsequent games” he told Angel TV.
Hearts of Oak will take on Great Olympics in matchday 2 of the Ghana Premier League.
Ajax’s new star Mohammed Kudus produced a stunning finish against Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Liverpool hosted Ajax at Anfield, their first outing since the Queen’s death last Thursday.
Prior to kick off, a minute’s silence was held as a mark of respect to the Queen, though a vast majority observed the silence impeccably, a handful of boos and jeers were heard, as reporter by journalist at the ground.
Jurgen Klopp’s men got off to the perfect start after Mohamed Salah gave the Reds a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute, the Egypt international showed great composure to finish the move off after being put through by Diogo Jota.
