Asante Kotoko have filed a protest against the match officials that handled the Super Clash against Hearts of Oak.

The first Super Clash of the 2022/23 league season was staged on Sunday, September 25, 2022.

After the game, fans of Asante Kotoko expressed sentiment over some decisions they believe should have gone in the favour of the team.

In the latest post on the social media page of Asante Kotoko, the club has given the indication that it shares the same notion.

The club says a protest has officially been filed with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

“The club after a careful study of yesterday’s game footage has filed a Complaint with the GFA against the decisions of the officiating officials,” a club statement from Asante Kotoko has said.

Sunday’s Super Clash was handled by referee Selorm Yao Bless as the centre referee.

Ghanaian Parliamentarian Frank Annoh-Dompreh has urged Asante Kotoko to file a protest against Referee Yao Bless after Sunday’s game against arch-rivals Hearts of Oak.

The Super Clash ended in a 1-1 draw at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on match day three of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors scored first through Yusif Mubarik before a controversial goal from Caleb Amankwah late in the game helped Hearts of Oak to avoid a defeat.

Hon. Frank Annor-Dompreh, a Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri and also an ardent supporter of Asante Kotoko showed his displeasure at the performance of the referee.

Referee Yao Bless denied Asante Kotoko two penalties in the game, according to the Asante Kotoko supporters.

The Ghanaian politician who was rallying behind in his team in the game has urged the club to file a compliant against the referee for sanctions.

“Kotoko must put in an official complaint to the FA. With all the videos. We must not let this go!” It is time our FA. punish such robbery by Referees. It was most ugly!”

Asante Kotoko head coach, Seydou Zerbo has criticized the performance of striker, Steven Mukwala following their 1-1 draw against Hearts of Oak.

The Porcupine Warriors were held by their bitterest rivals to a 1-1 drawn game at the Baba Yara Stadium in the week three fixtures of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League.

Caleb Amankwah scored late with a brave header to cancel out Mubarik Yussif’s early lead to share the points among the two clubs.

Speaking after the game, the Burkinabe gaffer has admitted his side played to perfection but is disappointed they couldn’t snatch all three points.

He added that he hasn’t been impressed with his Ugandan forward Steven Mukwala’s performance so far and is expecting more from him in their subsequent matches.

“We were all disappointed with our performance last week. We went to right our wrongs and played well but not happy for not getting all three points,” he said.

“With Mukwala, I wouldn’t say I’m ok. He is our leading scorer and his duty is to score. I will not say I’m ok but we will go back to figure out what went wrong and work towards it.

“We are building a new team with new signings, so I’m edging the supporters to be calm and I hope with time, they will adapt to the Kotoko philosophy and playing in front of the huge crowd, and will get back on track,” he added.

Retired Ghanaian referee Owusu Mensah Kalla, has defended Yao Selorm Bless who officiated the BetPawa Premier League Game between Kotoko and Hearts last Sunday.

Yao Selorm Bless has been accused by many football fans of denying Kotoko three penalties in the 1-1 game.

Retired Ref Owusu Mensah speaking on Kessben TV’s Midfield Action with Joe Laka indicated that something happened prior to the game which psychologically affected the young referee.

Kalla stressed that it was not the Yao Serlom Bless he knew conceding that at least Kotoko should have been awarded a penalty in the game.

“It was not Yao Selorm Bless we know that we saw in the game. He had a bad day. Due to what happened before the game, He could not even eat. Psychologically and emotionally, it affected him.

I saw him before the game and after the game, I spoke with him. He was not Okay. Kalla said.

Many football fans including sports analysts say at least Kotoko should have been awarded three penalties in the game.

Board member of Accra Hearts of Oak Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe has served notice to members of the club that no individual is better than the club including the Board Chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak. He sees a shakeup in the technical area of the club.

“No one is bigger than Accra Hearts of Oak including the board chairman of the club.” He told Asempa FM.

Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe further assessed the performance of the team in relation to yesterday’s game against Asante Kotoko in Ghana’s Super Clash.

“As a board we have done everything for the club. I am very happy in his presentation he said the problem is from the technical bench. We have some of the best players we have in this country. We have about six of them. There is no way I will select goalkeeper Richard Atta over goalkeeper Richmond Ayi.”

Accra Hearts of Oak picked up a vital away point at the Baba Yara Stadium yesterday. The club’s overall performance appears unsatisfactory to many Accra Hearts of Oak fans.

Board member of Hearts of Oak, Dr. Nyaho-Nyaho Tamakloe has attributed the club’s poor run to the technical team, led by Samuel Boadu.

The Phobians are yet to record a win in the ongoing 2022/23 Ghana Premier League.

In their opener, Samuel Boadu and his charges suffered a 1-0 defeat to Aduana Stars at the Nana Agyemang Badu in Dormaa.

In their second game, Hearts of Oak hosted their city rivals, Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium, and after 90 minutes of action, the game ended 1-1.

The FA Cup champions were hoping to secure their first win of the season when they were hosted by the sworn rivals, Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium in the matchday 3 games.

However, Hearts of Oak returned to the capital with just a point.

After three games played, Hearts of Oak sit 13th on the league log with just two points.

According to Dr. Tamakloe, the club’s poor run must be attributed to the technical team despite the board’s ability to recruit the best players in the country.

“If support could recollect, I spoke about the problem Hearts of Oak is facing and as a board, we have done our best for the club,” he told Asempa FM.

“As a club, I can confidently say there is no club in the country whose players and coaches better that Hearts of Oak.

“I am very happy that supporters are realizing that the problem is the technical team and when I made mention of that, I was attacked.

“We have recruited the best players in the country for the technical team and six of these players are with the Black Galaxies but look at the results they are churning out.

“We will leave it for the supporters to judge and see if these quality players are supposed to be churning out such results.

“Years back, when Hearts of Oak play a game, you don’t ask of the scoreline but you rather ask the scoreline but that is not what we are seeing today.

“I hinted on where the problem is and here we are today,” he added.

Samuel Boadu will be hoping to steer the side to a win when they host Bibiani Gold Stars in the matchday four games at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.
