Kwadwo Asamoah reveals why he dropped the jersey No.10 at the Black Stars

The former Juventus star has made clear why he stopped wearing the No. 10 jersey at Ghana national team camp.

The 33-year-old used to wear the No.20 but he was handed the No.10 jersey based on the recommendation of former captain Stephen Appiah.

However, the former Juventus midfielder reverted to the No.20 after briefly wearing the No.10. The decision sparked rumours and speculations about a spiritual attack forcing him to abandon the No.10.

After retiring from international football, Asamoah has explained the situation.

“You know I have been hearing this story for a very long time. I don’t know the kind of person who brought out this story because I never had any conversation with anyone that I’ve been having dreams of someone chasing about the jersey. I don’t know where that story came out from.

“I’m making it clear I never had any dreams like that. I just told them that I don’t want the jersey anymore. I want to change it back to my No. 20. So it wasn’t like someone was chasing me,” he said in an interview aired by Kumasi-based Pure FM.

He made 74 appearances and scored 4 times for the Black Stars.

“I don’t follow Ghana football” -Former GFA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi

Former Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has indicated that he has not been following Ghanaian football lately.


In the interview, Nyantakyi was asked to advise the current administration, but he admitted that he had a minimum knowledge of what was going on in Ghana football.


“I don’t know much about Ghana football. I have not been following it like I did when I was there, “he told Kings TV GH.

Kwesi Nyantakyi also disclosed why Ghana had a poor 2014 World Cup.


“The 2006 and 2010 World Cups were successful, but the 2014 one was unsuccessful. There were so many problems, “he continued.


“The problem had to do with the money that was supposed to be given to the players.


“The Bank of Ghana had credited the Ministry of Youth and Sports account, but for them to release it to the players, it became a problem. The point is, based on our previous experiences, the players were paid before leaving for the tournament.


“The moment we named the 23 players, the Ministry was supposed to pay the players and it would have been through credit transfer, but that was a huge problem. There was no need to fly money to Brazil.

Kwesi Nyantakyi was president of the Ghana Football Association from 2005 to 2018.


He led Ghana to three FIFA World Cups and two Africa Cup of Nations finals.

 Ghana finished second at AFCON 2010 and AFCON 2015.

CAF CC: Eric Esso out as David Ocloo names Hearts of Oak’s 22-man travelling squad for ASR Bamako clash

Hearts of Oak interim coach, David Ocloo announced a 22-man traveling squad list for this weekend’s CAF Champions League preliminary game against ASR Bamako.

The Phobians play away in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup against the Malian side on Saturday.

Hearts of Oak set to fly out to Bamako on Thursday to continue with preparations ahead of the game.

Hearts of Oak sign Congolese midfielder Otanga Mvouo

Hearts of Oak have strengthened the depth of their squad with the signing of a Congolese defensive midfielder Glid Jeordon Otanga Mvouo.

The midfielder who has been training with the club for some days now impressed the technical team and was also played an integral role in Hearts’ 1-0 win over Mighty Jets on Tuesday.

Prior to joining the Phobians, the 22-year-old had played Akonangui FC of Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon’s Coton Sport FC de Garoua.

Mvouo will be the fourth foreign international to join the Phobians after the capture of Yassan Ouatching, Junior Kaaba and Linda Mtange Don.

Glid Jeordon Otanga Mvouo will be available for competitive games when his registration is finalized.

Following the suspension of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League due to a court injunction, Asante Kotoko engaged Asokwa Deportivo in a friendly game on Wednesday morning.

The Porcupine Warriors hit five past the Division One League side at the Adako Jachie Sports Complex.

Coach Seydou Zerbo commenced the game with Frederick Asare in posts. The back line included Agyapong, Asmah, Sherif, and Maxwell Agyemang.

In midfield, Boadu alongside Morrison, Shadrack with Oppong, Amankona, and Mukwala leading the attack.

Amankona, Mukwala, and Morrison gave Kotoko a 3-0 lead after an impressive start to the game.

After recess, Kotoko introduced a different set of players.

Danlad, Appiah, Tedeku, Appau, Agyemang, and Sarkodie started the second half.

The others were Dickson, Rocky, Nico Mensah, Osei-Poku, and Boateng.

The Reds continued from where they left off in the first half as Nicholas Mensah and Samuel Boateng scored two additional goals.

Kotoko will continue with their preparation as they wait for the resumption of the league.

Asante Kotoko confirm international friendly with Belize national team

Asante Kotoko SC have confirmed an international friendly game against Central American country, Belize.

The Porcupines will engage the Belize national team, nicknamed ‘Jaguars’ in two exhibition games which will be held at the FFB Stadium in Belize.

The agreement was signed between Patrick Osei Agyemang (Songo) who represented Kotoko and Earl Jones who’s the General Secretary of the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) in September.

The friendlies were made possible by the Mayor of Belmopan City, Her Worship Sheran Palacio.

The two games are scheduled to be held on November 18th and 20th tentatively during the Major of Belmopan’s investors conference.

CONFIRMED: Great Olympics to host Asante Kotoko in 2022 Ga Mantse Cup

Great Olympics will cross swords with Asante Kotoko on 27th November 2022, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The two sides will play in the 2022 Ga Mantse Cup which is scheduled to kick off at 3 pm.

The game was initially planned to come off on Sunday, August 7,2022 at the Accra Sports Stadium between Hearts of Oak and Olympics but the Phobians pulled out of the game at the last minute.

However, the Dade club has instead invited the Porcupines to the nation’s capital for the big game.

The tournament which was initiated by King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II of the Ga Mantse seeks to unite the Ga people through football which forms part of the annual Homowo festival celebration.
