Hearts of Oak have finally recorded a win in the Ghana Premier League in the first four matches after coming from behind to beat Bibiani Gold Stars 2-1 on Saturday, October 29.
Before the league campaign was suspended three weeks ago, the handlers of the Ghanaian giants took the decision to sack treble-winning gaffer Samuel Boadu.
Subsequently, the club appointed Serbian tactician Slavko Matić as the new head coach to prepare the team for the resumption of the Premier League.
Today, Hearts of Oak hosted Bibiani Gold Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium in a matchday four encounter of the ongoing 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.
Just nine minutes into the game, the visitors took the lead through a strike from Prince Kwabena Owusu that beat goalkeeper Richmond Ayi.
Despite the efforts from the Hearts of Oak players to get back into the game, the side failed to find the back of the Gold Stars net and trailed at halftime.
In the second half, the Phobians had a numerical advantage and capitalized on it to score through attacker Isaac Mensah in the 78th minute.
Ten minutes later, experienced midfielder Gladson Awako scored from a free-kick to complete an exciting come-back win against 10-man Bibiani Gold Stars.
Thanks to the win today, Hearts of Oak have now climbed to 9th on the Ghana Premier League table.
The leadership of the Ghana Football Association went for a walk dubbed ‘Walk with the Legends’ on the Aburi hills as part of the build up to create awareness ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The event took place on 29th October, 2022 Saturday morning on the Aburi hills in which some football fans joined former Black Stars players and the leadership of the Ghana Football Association during the walk.
President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, Youth and Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif (Hon.), Vice President Mark Addo and Vice Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee Kwesi Agyemang led the dignitaries for the walk that began from Ayi Mensah to the Aburi Hills.
Others included John Painstil, Derek Boateng, Asamoah Gyan, Augustine Arhinful, Awuku Issaka, Jerry Akaminko, Isaac Vorsah, Richard Kingston, Kwame Ayew, Rev. Osei Kofi, Edward Ansah, Sam Johnson, Leayea Kingson, Yaw Acheampong, Peter Ofori Quaye, Maxwell Konadu, Emmanuel Armah, known in football circles as Senegal, Frimpong Manso, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu and Prince Tagoe.

One of the coaches to speak to Gold Talk Sport is Bibiani Gold Stars manager, Michael Osei.
“We were already prepared, we were training, we didn’t go for break during the suspension [of the league].
“Whether it’s early or it’s not early, we need to go for the game.
“We are coming to Accra to play Hearts of Oak, the team that is one of the best in the league .
“We have to prepare very well, psychologically, physically and mentally because it’s a game that we have to be tactically discipline so that we can frustrate them and get the points and come back to Bibiani.” Michael Osei told Radio Gold Talk Sport.
Gold Stars will be at the Accra Sports Stadium as guests of former champions, Hearts of Oak in week four.
The Vice-Chairman of the Black Stars management committee, Akwasi Agyeman, has disclosed that an agreement has been reached with the players to pay a qualifying bonus in every competition instead of the usual winning bonus.
The normal bonus structure for the national teams some time ago where winning bonuses paid after every game.
The players were entitled to $10,000 for winning every game before it was slashed to $5,000.
According to Mr Agyemang, the current Black Stars management committee has managed to convince the players to accept qualifying bonuses instead of the winning bonuses.

Speaking at the Happy 98.9FM World Cup dialogues on how the African teams can break the quarter-final jinx, the Chief Executive Officer for the Ghana Tourism Authority said, “We have had a series of meetings with the players and agreed on qualifying bonuses. The players agreed because we took a leaf from our predecessors.
“We made the players understand that the money does not come from us the management committee but the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Finance”.
“The players are now aware of what they are entitled to but funding is another issue, which is why President Nana Akufo-Addo organized the fundraiser to get some money from Corporate Ghana for the team”, he added.
Ghana will be facing Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea in Group H of the 2022 World Cup.

GFA CAMERAMAN:
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo believes that Ghana can beat any team they are drawn against.
Ghana will play in Group H against Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay; a tough group.
But the former Black Stars player thinks with the right style of play, the nation can excel.
“First of all we want to play our style of play and I think Ghanaian teams in the past always play good football and this is also what we want and we had previous tournaments where I think showed that Ghana has good footballers and this is also what we want. This comes surely also with victories and I think this is the first thing we want. If we can survive the group stage which I said is going to be very tough, then anything is possible,” he stated on Countdown Qatar.
“I know that we can beat every team in the world. Everybody knows that at the World Cup, it will not come like the whole world expects things to be. I think the first match is very decisive and from there we can know how to go on the second match.”
Otto Addo is expected to submit his final 23-26 man squad on November 14.
