Jeffrey Schlupp’s rep blasts Ghana FA after the player was left out of Ghana squad for 2022 World Cup

0

The Ghana Football Association and Ghanaians have come under pressure from a football agent who is believed to be working for Jeffrey Schlupp after the Crystal Palace star was left off the Black Stars squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

Schlupp was a part of the first 55-man list last week following successful negotiations between his group and the Ghana Football Association that resulted in his agreement to play for the national side once more.

However, the midfielder has been dropped after being told head coach Otto Addo “has not seen him play.”

The 29-year-old has been an integral part of Patrick Vieira’s team in the Premier League this season.

Schlupp was first called up by the technical team due to his strong achievements, but he will not be in Qatar, which has irked his agent, Sircalvin Riches.

He posted some unpleasant words on social media.

Schlupp’s last appearance for the Black Stars came back in September 2021 when he saw 28 minutes of action in the World Cup qualifier win over Ethiopia.

Ghana start their campaign against Portugal on November 24.

They will also face South Korea and Uruguay in Group H.

Ashimeru, Afena-Gyan, Joseph Painstil reportedly dropped from Ghana squad for 2022 World Cup

RSC Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru and KRC Genk forward Joseph Painstil have reportedly been left out of Ghana’s final squad for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup which kicks off on Sunday, November 20, 2022.

The Belgium-based duo were named in Ghana’s 55-man provisional squad which was announced last week Friday by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Per a report from GhanaSoccernet, Majeed Ashimeru and Joseph Painstil have failed to make the final squad despite being in decent form with their respective clubs.

Majeed Ashimeru who last played for the Ghana National team in September 2021 against South Africa in a World Cup qualifier has made 9 league appearances for Anderlecht this season, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists.

Joseph Painstil on the other hand has made 13 league appearances for Genk, scoring 6 goals and providing 5 assists.

Felix Afena-Gyan has struggled at new club US Cremonese this season.

The 19-year-old is yet to find the net in the Serie A and has played just 158 minutes so far.

The positive news for Ghana Premier League fans is the reported inclusion of Hearts of Oak’s Daniel Afriyie Barnieh in the squad.

Otto Addo is expected to officially release his final 26-man squad during the week.

Felix Annan reveals why he refused to join Hearts of Oak after Kotoko exit

Former Asante Kotoko captain, Felix Annan has explained why he turned down a move to Hearts of Oak after leaving the Porcupine Warriors.

Annan, who joined the Porcupine Warriors as a teenager in 2011 departed the club middle of this year over lack of playing time.

In an interview with Kumasi-based Opemsuo Radio, the 27-year-old who now plies his trade in America confirmed rejecting an opportunity to join Hearts of Oak.

Explaining why he didn’t accept a move to Hearts of Oak, Annan was of the opinion he had seen it all locally and for that matter, needed a change elsewhere.

“Almost every club in the Ghana Premier League wanted me to play for them when I announced my exit from Kotoko, including Hearts of Oak,” he confirmed.

“I declined the numerous calls from the local clubs because I wanted a new environment outside Ghana. I felt I had given and proved myself enough and there was nothing to prove anywhere again in Ghana.”

Felix Annan enjoyed a remarkable season with his new club, Maryland Bobcats. He was in post for 20 matches and kept 8 clean sheets for his side.
