Medeama saw their recent predicament aggravated as they suffered a fourth defeat on the bounce in the Ghana Premier League on Saturday afternoon at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa.

The Yellow and Mauves succumbed a 1-0 narrow defeat to Asante Kotoko SC who recorded the first win on the road outside Kumasi.

Nicholas Mensah’s second half goal was the only difference of the matchday six match as the champions move to the top of the league standings.

Medeama trainer David Duncan made three adjustments to the team that lost 1-0 to Great Olympics in the last game in Accra last week with Kwasi Donsu relegating to the bench.

Ivorian goalkeeper Boris Junior Mandjui returned for competitive action for the first time after nine months out with an injury.

Kotoko coach Seydou Zerbo made a few changes to the starting lineup that came from behind to beat FC Samartex in Kumasi last time.

Samuel Boateng was handed his very first start of the season having taken the place of Isaac Oppong with Dickson Afoakwa also replacing Ernest Poku.

The first half was balanced with both teams got an equal share of the ball possession with some lively displays as it ended goalless at halftime.

Kotoko had a decent opportunity around the 25th minute but they were unlucky to get the ball behind the net.

With a transformed performance at the start of the second half, Kotoko broke the deadlock of the game through Mensah who scored his 3rd goal of the season on a hour mark.

Mensah received a pass from defender Augustine Agyapong on the right flank and dribbled through two defenders before finishing off with a brilliant strike.

The Porcupine Warriors were reduced to ten men after Ivorian import Eric Serge Zeze was sent off after receiving a second caution in the 88th minute.

Asante Kotoko head coach Seydou Zerbo has named his starting line up for their 2022/23 Ghana Premier League match-week 6 game against Medeama SC on Saturday afternoon.

Kickoff is 3pm local time.

The Porcupine Warriors will be hoping to secure a back to back victory over the Yellow and Mauves after beating them 2-0 last season at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa.

Zerbo has handed starting berth to Samuel Boateng and Dickson Afoakwa while Georges Mfegue Omgba, Stephen Amankona, Richmond Lamptey and Enoch are on the bench for the epic encounter.

Champions Asante Kotoko will travel to Tarkwa to face Medeama SC on Matchday six of the betPawa Premier League on Saturday. The Red Devils came from a goal down to beat Samartex FC 2-1 at the Baba Yara stadium to get their season back on track after the defeat to Bechem United.

Asante Kotoko have won one and lost the other in their last two away games this season – as they defeat city rivals 3-0 and lost 2-0 to Bechem United. The Porcupine Warriors beat Medeama SC 2-0 in their last visit to the Akoon Park – a result that handed the League title in the 2021/22 season. Coach Seidu Zerbo will aim at capitalizing on the trembling form of Medeama SC at home – having won once and lost the other match against Aduana FC.

Augustine Agyapong who scored the winning goal against Samartex FC will be heavily relied upon in this fixture following his brilliant start to the season. New signing Steven Mukwala was off to a bright start in the win against King Faisal as he scored one and made one assist in the Kumasi.

The Uganda International has contributed three goals to the club in all competitions (1 goal, two assists) and would hope to continue his fine form with the likes of Serge Eric Zeze, Augustine Agyapong, Richmond Lamptey and Nicholas Mensah complimenting him.

For Medeama SC – the quickly need to sharpen the rough edges after having a heavy slump in form despite their excellent start to the season. The mauves and yellows who lost 1-0 to Great Olympics in Accra have yet to win a match since Matchday two when they came from behind to beat Real Tamale United at the Akoon Park.

The match, which is scheduled for 3pm kick off on Saturday, November 12, will be live on StarTimes Adepa channel 247.

On Sunday, Real Tamale United will face unbeaten Aduana FC at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium. RTU won their last game against Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park and would aim to build on it as they fight to maintain their spot in the League rumbles on. Aduana FC are unbeaten this season with four wins and one draw – they occupy the top spot with 13 points. The Ogya lads have won their first two away games whiles Real Tamale United are yet to win at home this season.

Elsewhere – Bechem United will host in-form Accra Lions at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Sunday. Bechem United who yet to concede at home with three goals scored will face a rejuvenated Accra Lions side who have won their last three matches. Ibrahim Tanko’s side Accra have not conceded a goal in their last three games with Bechem United yet to also concede at home thus far.

New boys Nsoatreman FC will battle Dream FC at the Nana Kronmansah Park at Nsoatre. The newly promoted side have won their first two games at home and are yet to concede whiles Dreams FC have struggled to score in their last three games – the Still Believe lads have conceded three goals in the process.

At Sameraboi – Samartex will take on Gold Stars at their new Nsenkyire grounds. The newly promoted side have drawn four games and lost one in their first five matches in the League.

Former Champions Hearts of Oak will be chasing their third consecutive win in the season against Karela United at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

In their last meeting at the Accra Sports Stadium, the game ended in a draw while Karela United are unbeaten against Hearts of Oak in their last four games, winning one and drawing the remaining three matches.

Hearts of Oak unbeaten at the Accra Sports Stadium this season – as they hold an unbeaten record at home whiles Karela United have tasted defeats in all their away games this season. Hearts new coach Slavko Matic have won three matches since he took over from Samuel Boadu.

Owner and bankroller of Tema Youth FC, Osei Kweku Palmer has furiously expressed his frustration over Otto Addo’s approach to axe Joseph Paintsil from his final 26-man squad ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

The KRC Genk forward was named in Ghana’s 55-man provisional squad as announced by the Ghana Football Association [GFA] last week.

However, multiple reports have emerged suggesting that Otto Addo, who is the head coach for the national team has informed Paintsil that is not part of his final 26-man squad for the Mundial scheduled to be hosted in Qatar.

Osei Palmer, who is a former GFA Executive Committee member speaking to Kumasi Pure FM questioned the approach of Addo.

According to him, the decision of the coach to tell Paintsil that some players are better than him is unacceptable.

“I can confirm to you that Otto Addo has informed Joseph Paintsil that he is not part of his final squad for the World Cup because other players are ahead of him and better than him,” he revealed.

“The approach of Otto Addo to directly say that to Paintsil is unacceptable. There are several ways to go about doing these things.

“The FA are aware that I stand to benefit from Paintsil so they are doing anything not to be part of the final 26-man squad.

“During the Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] in Cameroon, Paintsil was virtually our best player in the game against Morocco but what happened in the game against Gabon and Comoros? He was benched because they claim he does not shoot.

“For me, I wish Otto Addo and the team well but when they fail, they should not expect us to keep mute,” he added.

The Black Stars will then open camp in Abu Dhabi and will take on Switzerland in a friendly game on November 17 before heading to Doha on November 19.

Ghana, who have been housed in Group H will open their campaign against Portugal on November 24 at Stadium 974 in Doha.

Four days later, the Black Stars return to action with a clash with South Korea at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan.

Ghana will wrap up their group stage adventure with their much-anticipated encounter with Uruguay at Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah.

The Black Stars having missed out in the last edition hosted in Russia in 2018 will be hoping to improve their performance in Qatar after exiting the group phase during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Legon Cities returned to winning ways after beating Great Olympics in matchday 6 of the Ghana Premier League.

The Royals hosted the Dade boys at the El-Wak Sports Stadium on Friday afternoon and managed a 2-0 win over the visitors.

Legon Cities opened the scoring in the 42nd minute mark through Michel Otou who scored from the spot.

After the break, Mohammed Suleman scored in the 60th minute to doubled Legon Cities lead in the much-anticipated clash.

The defeat means Great Olympics unbeaten run in the ongoing domestic top-flight has come to an end.

Before the game, the Accra-based club had recorded three wins and two draws.

Despite the defeat, Great Olympics are still in the top four, they sit 3rd position with 11 points.

Meanwhile, Legon Cities have climbed to the 5th position on the league log with 10 points.

The clash between Tamale City FC and Berekum Chelsea on Friday afternoon ended in a pulsating stalemate.

The team from Tamale today hosted the Berekum-based club in a matchday 6 encounter of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.

Following a very good start to the contest, Kalo Outtara equalized in the 15th minute to give Berekum Chelsea the lead.

While it appeared the visitors would run away with the win, Tamale City FC fought back to restore parity through Raphael Essien before the first-half break.

After recess, a strong display from the home team saw the side scoring again through Isaac Mensah to take the lead for the first time in the game.

Unfortunately, Tamale City FC also could not hold on to the finish line. Eventually, the contest ended in a 2-2 draw as both teams earned a point each for their efforts.
