Players of the Black Stars, the Technical Team, Management and other members of the Ghanaian delegation who are currently in Qatar for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 finals have signed a Code of Conduct ahead of the global showpiece.

The group is expected to be upright ethically, be respectful, honest, display a very high level of Integrity and uphold the good name of the Black Stars, GFA and Ghana.

The Code of Conduct outlines the norms, rules, duties and responsibilities or proper practices of an individual in the team as well as the teams’ collective behaviour.

The GFA expects the players and all other members of the national team to abide by these principles during their stay in the national team especially while in Doha, Qatar for the FIFA World Cup which kicks off on Sunday, November, 20, 2022.

The Code of Conduct was signed by the delegation on arrival at the team’s training camp in Abu Dhabi.

The Black Stars will play Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay in Group H.

Black Stars captain Andre Ayew on Thursday, made history as Ghana’s outright most capped player.

The Al Sadd player who led Ghana to a 2-0 win over Switzerland lasted the entire duration and made significant strides in the game was presented with a commemorative jersey by President of the Ghana Football Association Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku at the end of the game.

Andre Ayew made his debut in August 2007 against Senegal in an International friendly and went on to win the World U-20 Championship in Egypt where Ghana beat Brazil in the final to win Africa’s first gold medal in the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The former Swansea City forward has scored 23 goals in 110 appearances for Ghana – making him the seventh all-time top scorer of the Black Stars. He was a member of Ghana’s Silver medal team at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola and the Quarter final squad at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Andre Ayew has played in Six Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and two FIFA World Cup finals (2010, 2014).

He will lead Ghana at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 finals which kicks off in Doha this Sunday.

The Black Stars will play Portugal in their opening match on Thursday, November 24 before taking on South Korea and Uruguay in the other Group H matches.

The Black Stars on Thursday morning beat Switzerland 2-0 in the United Arab Emirates in an international friendly.

The Black Stars had a slow start in the encounter against the Swiss but picked up speed in the second half to cause their opponents several problems.

Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu rose highest to nod home after the ball bounced around in the box. Bristol City attacker Antoine Semenyo quickly pounced on a ball and scored after an excellent run from substitute Kamaldeen Sulemana.

Hearts of Oak’s Daniel Afriyie Barnieh makes first start

The attacker for Ghana Premier League side Hearts of Oak got his first start under Otto Addo after making a brief appearance against Nicaragua. Barnieh was energetic throughout his time on the pitch. He took on players and helped the team out defensively when Switzerland attacked. The attacking midfielder should have gotten a penalty after a Swiss defender tripped him.

Lawrence Ati Zigi shaky in post

The St Gallen goalkeeper was shaky in this encounter, he was not confident when coming out to punch or make a save. He made three punches, two throws, one high claim, and five recoveries.

Tariq Lamptey keeps on getting better

The Brighton defender will likely start against Portugal after this performance. He was quick, direct, and not afraid to make a tackle. Lamptey had 94% pass accuracy, 31 touches, 100% tackles won, 100% ground duels won and two recoveries. He linked up well with the attack and had one shot on target.

Ghana’s passing is slow and not direct

The team’s passing in the first half was very slow, not direct, and predictable. Players kept on holding on to the ball and not picking a teammate to pass to quickly. The Swiss nearly punish the team after intercepting passes in midfield and in defense.

Otto Addo’s second half changes very key

The Black Stars coach is slowly gaining a reputation for making key changes in the second half to shake up the team. Against Brazil and Nicaragua, his second half changes got the team some intensity after a dull first half. In today’s game his chances in the second half got Ghana a positive result which will boost the morale of the players ahead of the 2022 World Cup which starts on November 20th.

Hearts of Oak star Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has said that he felt no pressure making his first full debut for the Black Stars in their win over Switzerland in Abu Dhabi on Thursday morning.

The forward was named in the 26-man squad of the Black Stars ahead of Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Barnieh made an appearance at the last minute for the Black Stars in friendlies against Nicaragua.

However, he appeared in the first XI for the team on Thursday in a friendly match against Switzerland.

The 21-year-old started on the right side alongside the Ayew brothers to provide support to his co-striker Inaki Williams.

In the first half of the game, Barnieh made an impressive run, terrorising the Swiss defence and also providing an attacking spark for the Black Stars.

Ghanaians have been taken aback by the performance of the Hearts of Oak striker.

Speaking in an interview with Joy Sports after the game, elated Barnieh reveals that he paid maximum attention to whatever the coaches told him hence his superlative performance.

“I feel good for making my full debut. It was a good game, there was no pressure and I adhered to what the coaches said and everything went well for me. The fans back home should keep on supporting and never stop praying for me”

The game ended 2-0 in favour of the Black Stars.

The Black Stars of Ghana outplayed and scored two goals on Thursday morning in the friendly match against Switzerland.

The Ghana national team as part of preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup engaged the Swiss in a pre-world cup friendly match today in Abu Dhabi.

In a game played at the Zayed Sports City Stadium, there were lots of action in the first half as Ghana dominated play.

Unfortunately, the team failed to convert the chances that were created and had to settle for a draw at the break.

In the second half, Switzerland had a brighter start and caused a lot of trouble for the defense of Ghana.

However, thanks to a strong display from the Black Stars, the team held on for as long as they needed to.

Following a number of changes at the hour mark, Ghana regained control of the game and continued to dominate.

In the 69th minute, Mohammed Salisu scored his first Ghana goal to give the Black Stars a deserved lead.

Five minutes later, Bristol City attacker Antoine Semenyo pounced on a loose ball in the six-yard box of the Swiss and fired a shot from close range that found the back of the net.

Eventually, the Black Stars cruised to a 2-0 win to wrap up their training camp in Abu Dhabi in style.

The Black Stars will now prepare to fly out to Qatar to prepare for the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Sunday, November 20.

The African side will not be in action until Thursday, November 24, 2022.
