Bibiani Gold Stars have secured a vital point on the road after holding Berekum Chelsea to a goalless draw in the Ghana Premier League matchday 10 contest.

The team from Bibiani this weekend travelled to Berekum to take on the matchday opponent in a game staged at the Golden City Park.

In a game that was evenly matched, both teams put up a good performance in the early parts of the first half.

Unfortunately, neither side could get on the score sheet and had to settle for a draw at the end of the first 45 minutes.

While the two teams would up their game in the second half, the attackers were not sharp enough.

The lack of goals in the 90 minutes meant that the scoreline remained barren at the end of the tough contest.

The result leaves Berekum Chelsea in the 9^th position of the Ghana Premier League with Bibiani Gold Stars climbing to third.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that a minute silence will be observed by clubs before all matches on matchday 10 of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.

According to a statement on the website of the Ghana FA, it said this will be in accordance with a request from FIFA to all member associations to pay tribute to late football great, Pelé.

In addition to the Ghana Premier League, a minute silence will also be observed by clubs in the Division One League and the Women’s Premier League.

“FIFA has called on member associations and football competition organisers to hold a minute of silence ahead of every football match this upcoming weekend and the week thereafter.

“This is in solidarity with the family and friends, the Brazilian Football Association, Brazil and all football fans who are mourning the death of Edson Arantes do Nascimento, PELE,” the GFA statement said on Friday.

It added, “In a letter sent to the Ghana Football Association on December 30, 2022, FIFA also stated that the flags at the World body’s headquarters will be flown at half-mast

“In accordance with the request, the GFA has requested that a minute’s silence is observed ahead of all betPawa Premier League, Access Bank Division One League and Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League matches.”

According to Kumasi FM, Hearts of Oak has sold Daniel Afriyie Barnieh to FC Zurich in Switzerland.

After the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) 2022, which runs from Friday, January 13 to Saturday, February 4, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh will join the Swiss giants.

The report added that Hearts of Oak would get $150,000 as compensation money rather than a transfer fee for the player whose contract at the club was extended until after the CHAN competition.

On 15 January 2020 Barnieh was signed on a three-year deal ahead of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League. He made his debut on 19 January 2020 in a 2-1 away win against Liberty Professionals.

The attacker helped the Phobians win the Ghana Premier League championship two years ago and the MTN FA Cup twice in a row.

In the last two years, the 21-year-old has played for the Black Satellites, Black Meteors, Black Galaxies, and the senior national team, the Black Stars.

He guided the U-20 squad to victory in Mauritania at the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Afriyie Barnieh is in Egypt with the Black Galaxies preparing for the CHAN 2022 which will be held in Algeria.

After 20 minutes when neither side had scored, the tempo of the game reduced a bit but still witnesses a lot of action.

In the 36^th minute of the encounter, the deadlock was broken when Emmanuel Owusu Boakye found the back of the Legon Cities FC net to give Karela United the lead.

Trailing at the break, coach Maxwell Konadu had to change his approach to the game as his players resumed the second half to mount pressure on the visiting team.

After several efforts, the hosts finally had their breakthrough in the 73^rd minute when Rahman Abdul equalized with a fine strike to restore parity to the game.

With no other goal in the remainder of the match, the game between Legon Cities and Karela United ended 1-1 at the end of the 90 minutes.
