Bechem United recorded a 2-1 win against Hearts of Oak to end their 6-game unbeaten run in the league under Slavko Matic.

The Hunters silenced the Cape Coast Stadium by taking a 2-0 lead after just 13 minutes into the game, Cephas Kofi Mantey scored the first in the 5th minute before Hafiz Konkoni doubled the lead with a fine finish after a good work by Emmanuel Avornyo.

Hearts of Oak from then pushed bodies forward in search of a way back into the game but Bechem United defended gallantly to maintain the 2-0 scoreline in large parts of the game.

In the final minutes of the game, the Phobians pulled a goal back through Robert Addo Sowah but there was little time for them to build on that as the game ended 2-1.

The two teams finished the game with 10-man, Enoch Asubonteng was sent off for Hearts of Oak while Joseph Kinful was sent off for Bechem United.

In other results, Aduana FC and Asante Kotoko played out a pulsating scoreless draw at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dorma.

At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, King Faisal scored two late goals to beat Nsoatreman 2-0. Joseph Gordon and Godfred Asiamah scored for the team after Samuel Kusi had miss a spot-kick.

Vincent Atingah scored from the spot-kick in each half to propel Medeama to a 2-0 win against Accra Lions in Tarkwa.

It rained goals in Tamale as Real Tamale United (RTU) defeated Kotoku Royals 3-2. RTU raced into a 2-goal lead after 60 minutes, Baba Kushibo and Issah Kuka the scorers. Kotoku Royals drew parity through Richard Dzikoe and Godwin Segla before Yusif Mohammed Nuru Deen scored the winner for RTU in the 89th minute.

At the Nsenkyire Sports Arena, Samartex and Dreams FC played out a scoreless draw.

On Saturday, Tamale City defeated Great Olympics 2-1 at the Aliu Mahama Stadium to record their second win of the season.

Raphael Essien opened the scoring for Tamale City in the 51st minute. 9 minutes later, Gideon Ofori Offei struck to make it 1-1. In the 71st minute, Sampson Eduku scored the winner for Tamale City.

At the Golden City Park in Berekum, Chelsea were left frustrated as they were held to a scoreless draw by Bibiani Gold Stars.

On Friday in the opening game of the gameweek, Legon Cities and Karela United played a 1-1 draw.

Emmanuel Owusu Boakye gave Karela the lead in the 37th minute, before Abdul Rahman leveled the score for Legon Cities in the 74th minute.

Aduana winger Emmanuel Gyamfi facing punishment for stamping on Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare

Aduana Stars winger, Emmanuel Gyamfi is set to face punishment for his bizarre stamp on Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare during their clash last Sunday.

In what was a matchday 10 fixture of the ongoing betPawa Premier League season, the winger of the lost his temper in the second half.

As a result, he stamped on Frederick Asare twice, although the Kotoko goalie was not in possession of the ball.

Frederick Asare came out of his area to catch the ball and out of nowhere the winger stamped on his legs but none of the match officials saw what happened but the StarTimes camera captured the incident which has generated a lot of traction on social media.

With the video of the incident going viral, Emmanuel Gyamfi is likely to be summoned by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee for questioning and a hefty ban awaits him.

Two seasons ago while he was at Kotoko, Gyamfi was punished for a similar off-the-ball incident at Dawu against Inter Allies when he stamped on Andy Okpe.

Ghanaian youngster Salim Adams finally leaves for FC Cincinnati adventure

Ghana midfielder Salim Adams has finally travelled to the United States to begin his career with FC Cincinnati 2, some eight (8) months after the deal was announced.

The 20-year-old was playing for local giants Hearts of Oak when a loan agreement was reached for the youngster to continue his development at the reserve side of fellow Common Value Club Alliance partners FC Cincinnati.

“FC Cincinnati 2 announced today that they have acquired midfielder, Salim Adams, on a loan through 2022, with an option to purchase, from Ghanaian club Accra Hearts of Oak, pending league and federation approval, in addition to ITC and work authorization,” portions of a release by the American side on May 4, 2022 read.

But Salim’s dreams of playing in the maiden edition of the MLS Next Pro League did not materialise.

He could not travel from Ghana due to paperwork issues.

Salim Adams finally flew out of Accra in the company of his manager Abdul Salam Yakubu on the night of Monday, January 2, 2023, all set for a loan spell with FC Cincinnati 2.

Match report: Addo Sowah’s stoppage time goal not enough as Bechem United silence Hearts Of Oak at home

Hearts of Oak suffered their first ever defeat in all competitions under Serbian goalkeeper Slavko Matic after succumbing to Bechem United in the Ghana Premier League on Monday afternoon in Cape Coast.

The Phobians were handed a stunning 2-1 loss by Bechem at the Cape Coast stadium, ending their six-match unbeaten streak in the Premiership.

Matic made only one change to the team that came from behind to beat Uncle T United in the FA Cup last weekend, with Gideon Asante Yeboah paving the way for Benjamin Yorke.

On the other hand, Bechem made few alterations to the squad that lost on penalties to Asante Kotoko SC last week in the FA Cup, as teenager Isaiah Nyarko was handed his first start at senior level.

Bechem got an early breakthrough as they went ahead just six minutes after kick-off following a beautiful build-up after catching Hearts on the break.

Cephas Kofi Mantey got his fifth goal of the campaign as his shot from close range beat goalkeeper Richmond Ayi after receiving a through ball from midfielder Nyarko.

The Hunters doubled their lead seven minutes later through Hafiz Wontah Konkoni, who found the back of the net for the first time this season.

Wontah Konkoni was set up by forward Emmanuel Avornyo after a brilliant individual effort.

The Phobians pulled one back in the dying embers of the matchday 10 encounter with Sowah Addo, who scored in stoppage time.

The Hunters finished the match with ten men after Joseph Kinful was sent off for getting a second booking.

Slavko Matic names Hearts Of Oak starting line-up for Bechem United clash

Hearts Of Oak head coach Slavko Matic has named his starting lineup for Bechem United clash this afternoon in Cape Coast.

Last season’s FA Cup finalists will lock horns in a matchday 10 encounter of the Ghana Premier League at 3pm.

Hearts will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten run since the arrival of Matic.

A win for the Phobians will lift them from the 4th spot to the second position on the league log and will be a point adrift of leaders Aduana Stars who are on 20 points.

“I didn’t miss Bright Adjei” – Paa Kwesi Fabin after barren draw with Kotoko

Aduana Stars head coach Paa Kwesi Fabin says the club did not miss the services of their prolific attacker Bright Adjei in their scoreless encounter against Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League.


The Ogya boys maintained their position at the top of the League table after matchday 10 following their draw against Kotoko at the Dormaa Park on Sunday afternoon. 

Fabin’s charges headed into the gameweek at the top of the table without their star and leading topscorer, Adjei, who is on five goals.

Bright Adjei

Adjei was with the Black Galaxies team preparing for the 2022 CHAN tournament but was axed from the team and was expected to play for Aduana yesterday.

However, he was not included in the team’s matchday squad. According to our sources, Adjei’s contract with Aduana Stars will expire on the 12th of this month.

Despite dominating the match, especially in the second half, Aduana failed to score a single goal as they fluffed the numerous chances they created. 

Reacting after the barren draw, the former Black Starlets coach insisted that all his players are up to the task and that he did not miss the services of any player.

“I’m happy with the performance of my team but not the scoreline,” he said in a post-match interview.

“No, I don’t want you to bring in Bright Adjei because it’s a team play.” If you say that, it means the others we used are not equal to the task. Everybody is equal to the task; I didn’t miss anybody.

“One of our players got injured early in the game, and that affected us.”

Aduana still leads the league log with 20 points after 10 games, and they will trek to Bibiani as guests to Gold Stars on Sunday.

Hearts Of Oak trainer, Slavko Matic has named his squad for his side’s epic encounter against Bechem United in the Ghana Premier League.

The two sides lock horns in a matchday 10 fixture at the Cape Coast at exactly 3pm on Monday afternoon.

Hearts will be looking forward to maintaining their unbeaten streak since the appointment of Matic.

Thy will be without Gladson Awako, Suraj Seidu, Konadu Yiadom, Denis Korsah, and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh due to their involvement in the Black Galaxies preparations ahead of the CHAN tournament in Algeria.

Match Report: Aduana Stars and Asante Kotoko share the spoils in thrilling encounter

The mouth-watering encounter between Aduana Stars and Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League has ended goalless at the end of 90 minutes.

The two top four clubs locked horns at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park on Sunday afternoon with the target of securing a win to go top of the Ghana Premier League standings.

In the tough contest that ensued between the two clubs, neither side could get on the scoresheet at the end of the first half.

While both clubs will create several chances after recess, the result remained unchanged at the end of the second 45 minutes.

As a result, Aduana Stars who are leaders of the Ghana Premier League table had to settle for a draw with defending Champions Asante Kotoko.

Courtesy of the draw, both teams have picked a point each on new year’s day.

Aduana Stars remain top of the Ghana Premier League table with Asante Kotoko staying in second.

That could however change on Monday if Hearts of Oak beat Bechem United.

Match Report: King Faisal score two quick goals to beat Nsoatreman in Kumasi

King Faisal took advantage of their home ground to beat Nsoatreman FC in their matchday 10 encounter of the Ghana Premier League.

Despite creating numerous goal scoring opportunities, both teams were unable to find the back of the net in the first half of the clash.

After the break, the Isha Allah boys shot into the lead in the 79th minute mark through Joseph Gordon.

Jimmy Cobblah side proved to be the stronger side as they doubled their lead in the 82 minute to make it 2-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The Kumasi-based club returned to winning ways after beating the Ghana Premier League newcomers on home turf.

Prior to the game, the had suffered a 2-defeat to Dreams FC at the Theatre of Dreams, Dawu.

Meanwhile, Nsoatreman FC were unable to bounce back to winning ways. The defeat against King Faisal means they have suffered a back to back defeat.

Despite the win, King Faisal still find themselves in the relegation drop. They sit 16th position with 12 points after 10 matches into the campaign.

Nsoatreman FC are 12th on the league log with 13 points.
