Former Black Stars goalkeeper Abubakari Damba has compiled and presented a list of the best performing players in each position for Gameweek nineteen (19) of the 2022/23 betPawa Premier League, according to an announcement made by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Abubakari Damba’s team follows a 4-4-2 formation, with James Nicholas Francis, who led Accra Lions to a 2-1 win against Karela United at the Crosby Awuah Memorial (CAM) park, being selected as the standout player.

Frank Boateng, who put in a commanding performance for Kotoku Royals in their 3-0 win against rivals Dreams FC in Dawu, was chosen as the goalkeeper for the team of the week.

The back four consists of Issa Ibrabim of Accra Lions, Sherif Mohammed of Asante Kotoko, Joseph Adu Dwomoh of King Faisal, and Samuel Ashie Quaye, who scored Great Olympics’ goal in the 1-0 win against Hearts of Oak.

In midfield, Razak Kasim, the man of the match in the Great Olympics and Hearts of Oak clash, was selected alongside Godfred Kyei of Bibiani GoldStars. Asante Kotoko’s Enoch Morrison and Collins Ameyaw of Berekum Chelsea occupy the flanks.

Accra Lions’ in-form Abass Samari makes his third consecutive appearance in the team and is paired upfront with Francis Andy Kumi of Kotoku Royals.

According to Hearts of Oak communications officer Opare Addo, defender Samuel Inkoom is now eligible for selection, having served a suspension due to the accumulation of yellow cards during the ongoing Ghana Premier League.

Addo hinted that Inkoom will likely be included in the lineup for the upcoming Super Clash match between Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, which will also serve as the President’s Cup.

The highly anticipated game is scheduled for Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium and will be graced by the presence of Guinea-Bissau’s President Umaro Embalo, as well as Ghana’s own President, Nana Akufo-Addo.

“Some of the players who couldn’t play against Great Olympics today I spoke to a member of the medical team and he was going through some exercise with the players,” Opare Addo told Peace FM.

“Some have also seen the doctor as well so we are very much sure that by close of tomorrow we will be able to tell from the medical point of view the players they will be available as well. Samuel Inkoom who missed the game against Great Olympics because of yellow cards accumulation as finished serving so he will be back for the game,”

Asante Kotoko trainer, Seydou Zerbo has named a 20-man squad for his side’s crucial game against Hearts Of Oak on Sunday.

The two glamorous clubs will lock horns in a matchday 20 fixture of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League in Accra.

Kotoko will be hoping to deepen the woes of the Phobians after they lost to Olympics in mid-week.
Justice Blay, Mubarik Yusif, Rashid Nortey and Isaac Oppong are out of the trip through injuries.

The Ghana Football Association has announced that the betPawa Premier League Matchday 21 fixture between champions Asante Kotoko and King Faisal is postponed.

This is due to the unavailability of the Baba Yara Sports stadium for the advertised date for the match because of the Black Stars AFCON 2023 qualifier against Angola.

The decision is to give managers of the pitch ample time to further improve the quality of pitch for Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola.

Ghana have two crucial matches in Kumasi – where the Black Stars are set for a showdown against Angola on Thursday, March 23 before the Black Meteors battle Algeria in the 2nd leg of the last round qualifier for the TotalEnergies U-23 Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.

However, the Kotoko vs King Faisal game which was originally scheduled for Sunday, March 12, will now take place on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at the Baba Yara Sports stadium.

Lawrence Adjah Tetteh, a former midfielder of Hearts of Oak, has called on the club’s supporters to get behind coach Slavko Matic in order to help turn things around for the Phobians.

The coach has come under severe scrutiny after consecutive losses to Aduana Stars and King Faisal in the Ghana Premier League.

As they prepare to face off against Kotoko, Adjah Tetteh, a member of the Hearts of Oak squad that won the 2004 CAF Confederations Cup, has appealed to the fans to support Matic.

“I’m into the coaching job, so I will plead with the fans to support Matic to turn things around for the club” he told Koforidua-based Bryt Fm.

Meanwhile, Adjah Tetteh has expressed optimism about Hearts of Oak beating Kotoko to clinch the President Cup on Sunday.

“Hearts of Oak should not be afraid going into this Kotoko game, it’s a cup game and Hearts are noted for winning trophies, I will plead with the fans to go to stadium in their numbers to cheer the team up and I believe they will emerge as winners”

The Phobians will play host to the Porcupine Warriors in matchday 19 of the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium, a game that will also serve as President Cup due to the tight schedules.

Bibiani Gold Stars striker, Abednego Tetteh, who previously played for Accra Hearts of Oak, has expressed his willingness to rejoin his former club.

Tetteh has been in excellent form for his current team, having scored eight goals so far this season, placing him second on the Premier League top scorers table.

Tetteh had a disappointing 15-month stint with Hearts of Oak, which led to his departure after the 2021/22 season. However, he believes that he can make a positive impact if given the opportunity to return to the Phobian club.

In response to the question of whether he would consider returning to Accra Hearts of Oak, Abednego Tetteh stated,

“Why not? Togbe Afede, the board chairman, is a great man whom I respect a lot. I can’t ignore his call. I have always been ready to play for Accra Hearts of Oak if they need me back. I have loved the club since I was a child,” Tetteh said in an interview with Adeiso-based Tru FM.
