At the Ghana Football Association Technical Center in Prampram, Black Galaxies secured a 4-2 victory over lower tier side Kotoku Shining Stars in a test game on Wednesday.

The team has been in camp at the base for several weeks, and this friendly match provided valuable insights for Coach Didi Dramani regarding the team’s strengths.

During the game, Jonathan Sowah scored two goals, while Abednego Tetteh and Richmond Lamptey each contributed with one goal.

Kotoku Shining Stars managed to score two goals, courtesy of Emmanuel Asante and Solomon Narh.

Coach Didi Dramani continues to assess the players in camp, and he will finalize the squad when the time is right.

H.E Akufo-Addo supports Medeama’s CAF Champions League campaign with GH¢1m

On August 2, 2023, President Nana Akufo-Addo pledged GH¢1 million to support Medeama SC in their 2023/2024 CAF Champions League campaign during the league trophy presentation at the Jubilee House.

The President made the announcement in the presence of a delegation led by George Mireku Duker, Deputy Minister for Mines and Natural Resources, and Member of Parliament for Takwa.

The delegation included chiefs from the Apinto Traditional Council, Dr. Tony Aubynn, the club’s Board Chairman, Head Coach Evans Augustine Adotey, other management and technical team members, as well as the players.

Medeama SC will compete against Nigeria’s Remo Stars in the Champions League preliminary round on August 20 at the Cape Coast Stadium, with the return leg scheduled for August 27.

President Akufo-Addo congratulated Medeama for their outstanding performance in winning the Ghana Premier League and their first-ever league trophy, ending the Western Region’s 47-year wait for a league title since Sekondi Hasaacas’ victory in 1977.

The President expressed his support for the club and wished them success in their continental engagements for the year. He also mentioned that he would try his best to be present at the match in Cape Coast and provide assistance in their CAF campaign.

“Congratulations to you, the captain, and the members of the team for this historic achievement. It’s been 47 years since a team from the Western Region won the cup. This is great. You’ve done a great job. Congratulations”

“I will try to provide a million Ghana Cedis to help you in the CAF campaign. The deputy minister insists that if I’m in Ghana on the 20th, I should come to Cape Coast. I’ll see. We’ll do our best to assist in your continental engagements this year, to ensure you have a successful tilt,” said President Akufo-Addo.

Ghana’s Mohammed Salisu completes move to AS Monaco

Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu has completed his much-anticipated move to AS Monaco after a reported €15 million deal was agreed between both clubs earlier this week.

The 24-year-old centre-back underwent a medical and officially signed a five-year contract.

“AS Monaco are delighted to announce the arrival of central defender Mohammed Salisu from Southampton Football Club. The 24-year-old Ghana international has signed a 5-season deal and is now tied to the Principality club until June 2028,” Monaco announced.

The Ghana defender had been the subject of interest from Fulham, but the proposed £15 million switch collapsed, opening the door for AS Monaco to reignite their pursuit and secure his services for the upcoming season.

“We would like to wish Mohammed well for the future and thank him for his contribution,” Southampton said in a statement.

Salisu had one year left on his contract with Southampton and was not included in the squad for their recent pre-season friendlies. His last appearance for the south coast side was back in March, and towards the end of last season, he was left out due to concerns about his commitment.

He joined Southampton for £10.9 million and has now departed after a successful three-year spell. During his time at the club, Salisu made a total of 80 appearances in all competitions.

Monaco’s pursuit of Salisu intensified after Southampton’s relegation to the Championship, making the move a logical step for the player’s career progression.
