Check out Hearts Of Oak’s 30-man squad list for Koforidua pre-season

Hearts of Oak has embarked on their journey from Accra to Koforidua in the Eastern Region, taking with them a squad of 30 players to continue their preseason preparations.

Under the guidance of their new manager, Martin Koopman, the Phobians have been diligently getting ready for the upcoming 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.

Their preseason activities at Pobiman, including training and friendly matches, culminated in a recent encounter with Okwahu United on Saturday.

During this period, the club engaged in a total of six friendly matches at their training facility, the Pobiman Sports Complex. Impressively, the Ghanaian football giants managed to net 28 goals across these six test matches.

Martin Koopman’s squad for the upcoming preseason camp in Koforidua includes notable players such as goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi, Michelle Sarpong, Rafael Amponsah, Isaac Frimpong, and others.

Partey’s injury doesn’t look good – Arsenal coach Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that midfielder Thomas Partey’s injury is one to worry about as he is set to be sidelined for some weeks.

The midfielder’s injury was reported by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Saturday as Chris Hughton announced his 25-man squad for Ghana’s final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Central African Republic.

The 30-year-old’s condition was re-affirmed by the Spanish boss before their crucial encounter with Manchester United at the Emirates on Sunday in the Premier League.

“It doesn’t look good. We need a few more tests but he felt something in training and I think he will be out for a couple of weeks,” Arteta said.

“He had the capacity to play in various positions and today was a game for him to play in a different position but he is not available.”

Despite Partey’s absence, the Gunners managed to beat the Red Devils 3-1 thanks to a controversial Video Assistant Referee (VAR) intervention denying Manchester United a goal which followed two quick strikes from Arsenal in the dying minutes of the exhilarating encounter.

The Black Stars, on the other hand, will have to rely on the return of Baba Iddrisu, Ilisha Owusu, and the availability of Salis Abdul Samed among others in Partey’s absence as they aim for a successful outcome that can take them to the next AFCON, which will be hosted in Ivory Coast next year.

Medeama beat Dreams FC to win 2023 Champion of Champions

Medeama SC scored two first half goals to down Dreams FC 2-1 to win the Champion of Champions trophy at the Cape Coast stadium.

Dreams FC controlled the opening 20 minutes of the game but the League champions took over and scored two goals then on.

Forward Jonathan Sowah justified his invitation to the Black Stars as he scored two quick fire goals to power Medeama to victory.

Sowah put the Premier League champions ahead inside 19 minutes with a fine finish.

The former Danbort FC striker doubled the lead for Medeama SC after scoring an absolute beauty from the edge of the box.

Substitute Agyenim Boateng Mensah converted a penalty kick in the 79th minute to reduce the deficit but the goal wasn’t enough to throw the game into extra time as Medeama SC held on to win the game.

The Champion of Champions is a curtain raiser for the 2023-24 Ghana Premier League season, which kicks off on the weekend of September 15-18,2023.

The 20-year-old, who started his career with Tamale Utrecht Football Academy, arrives with the experience of having played in the Ghana Premier League last season with Real Tamale United

The hard-tackling full-back showcased his talent and potential for the Pride of the North, making 14 appearances in all competitions and was named Man of the Match on two occasions.

Having featured already for Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum team in the club’s pre-season friendlies, Issahak becomes our second addition at right-back, following the arrival of Samuel Asamoah.

Bofoakwa Tano emerged as the champions of the 2023 Division One League Super Cup by defeating the defending champions, Skyy FC, in the final on Friday.

Nottingham Forest FC has successfully secured the signing of Callum Hudson-Odoi, who was previously sidelined at Chelsea.

The winger has officially inked a three-year contract with the Red and Whites, marking his departure from Chelsea, where he had been deemed surplus to requirements.

This new deal commits Hudson-Odoi to The City Ground until at least the summer of 2026.

Hudson-Odoi’s career at Chelsea began with notable achievements as a young player, including two FA Youth Cups and an U18 Premier League title. He was also a key member of the England U17 squad that clinched the FIFA World Cup in 2017, under the management of Steve Cooper.

Making his senior debut for Chelsea in January 2018, Hudson-Odoi went on to make 72 appearances in the Premier League and 23 appearances in the UEFA Champions League. He also had a loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen last season, where he made 21 appearances.

As a three-time England international, Hudson-Odoi earned his debut for the Three Lions during a 5-0 victory over the Czech Republic in March 2019.

During his time at Nottingham Forest, Hudson-Odoi will don the number 14 shirt.

Former Asante Kotoko center-back Maxwell Agyemang has completed a transfer to Karela United during the ongoing transfer window.

Maxwell Agyemang initially joined Asante Kotoko at the start of the 2021/22 season, arriving from Division One side Wamanfo Mighty Royals. He was the second signing for the team under the management of Prosper Ogum, a move that eventually contributed to their success at the end of the season.
