Former Hearts of Oak midfielder, Charles Allotey has insisted that the club’s current players do not have any love for the rainbow jersey.

Last week, the Phobians released five first-team players over their refusal to extend their expired contracts.

Benjamin Agyare, Christopher Bonney, Bernard Arthur and Abubakar Troare were among the players who exited. However, the departure of star man Joseph Esso is what has generated huge controversy.

Sharing his opinion on the recent continuous player exodus in the club, Charles Allotey advised the current crop of players in the club to concentrate on their training and set a target of playing in the Champions League.

“Your appearance at the training ground will let Hearts know you’re a fan of the club. Because it comes with a feeling. Those who first played did so with their hearts although there was no money. You should love the team you’re playing for, ” he told Accra-based Onua FM.

He continued, “During our time, we were Hearts Of Oak fans, but I don’t see the current Hearts players as loyal fans of the club. Because we play the team with a good heart. I remember we had many contracts but we were not allowed to go. We took a decision to also win the Champions League in Ghana.

“But I don’t know where the current players want to take the team to. They should have a target of playing in the Champions League and that’ll make them good players.

“They should concentrate on their training very well. In fact, the love is not there, ” he added.

He also expressed shock about the absence of the team’s players in national teams in recent call-ups.

“Am very surprised that there are no Hearts Of Oak player in the national team. The players performances are appalling,” he said.

Board member of Asante Kotoko, Dr. Kofi Amoa-Abban has donated a car each to the club’s new CEO and head coach to aid their work.

The Oil and Gas entrepreneur and philanthropist confirmed the gesture to Opemsuo FM Thursday.

Dr. Amoa-Abban handed over keys to a Toyota Prado to head of management Naya Yaw Amponsah while coach Maxwell Konadu received a Toyota Fortuna.

Nana Yaw Amponsah was, on August 7, 2020, appointed to lead Kotoko’s management with a three-year mandate. Coach Konadu, also, has been in charge of the club’s technical team on a second stint since December 2019.

Dr. Kofi Amoa-Abban is one of three personalities who were added to an initially announced nine-member board for the Porcupine Warriors.

The 37-year-old is best known as the founder and CEO of Rigworld Group, an oil services business with operations across West Africa. Other companies he runs include Rigworld International Services Ltd., Steadfast Rigworld, Rigworld Training, Transatlantic Services Ltd., Rigworld Petroleum, Galaxy Resorts, Burj Constructions, M2 Telematics, Rigworld Security, Axiss Shipping and Aquasplash Water Park.

Erstwhile midfielder of Accra-based powerhouse Hearts of Oak, Esme Mends posits that newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah will fail in his new role.

The former Phar Rangers financier has spent six days in his new role as CEO of Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko. His appointment has divided opinions with a vast majority backing the brainy football administrator to excel in the hot seat while a growing number of the football community have questioned his competence to deliver at Kotoko.
The latest to join the frey of naysayers is Esme Mends, who has branded Nana Yaw as a “pretender” verbally flogged the 2019 GFA presidential aspirant stating categorically Nana Yaw won’t excel in his new role.

“I don’t believe Nana Yaw Amponsah is cut for the job”, Esme Mends stated in an exclusive interview with ghanasportspage.com.

“He cannot do the job due to how I know him and I know him deeply and based on that, in fact we’ve come a long way. I have moved with him for long, I will not say anything untrue but as to what he did and what he didn’t do I can’t say on air but I know and I’m really really disappointed in whoever made the decision to appoint him as the new CEO for Kotoko because the Kotoko job is not a job for people like Nana Yaw Amponsah”, he criticised.

Mends, who has transmogrified into a player scout after hanging his boots was disappointed in the board of directors for appointing Nana Yaw Amponsah as the club’s CEO.

“For me I know he’ll fail, I don’t wish him bad though but I know he’ll fail, and it pains me that Kotoko didn’t make the right decision at this moment of time. He is a pretender, Nana Yaw Amponsah is a pretender, he alleged.

President of the Republic of Ghana. H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has granted approval for the Black Starlets and the Black Satellites to resume camping following an appeal by the leadership of the Ghana Football Association through the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The approval was captured in a letter communicated to the GFA, dated August 11, 2020 and signed by Nana Bediatuo Asante, Secretary to the President.

“Approval has been granted for the teams for the U-17 Tournament and U-20 Tournament to resume camping to enable the team prepare for their respective competitions. This approval is granted subject to the strict adherence to the prescribed protective. Please accept the President’s best wishes” the letter stated.

The two National teams broke camp in March, following suspension on public gathering and all sports activities as part of the country’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Reacting to the news, GFA General Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo (Esq,), thanked the President for approval to the request of the Association.

“We are extremely happy that the Presidency has swiftly approved our plea and we are extremely grateful to His Excellency” said Prosper Harrison Addo

“The GFA would like to also thank the Office of the President and the Secretary of the President, the Chief of Staff, the Sports Minister and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Government COVID-19 Task Force and the National Sports Authority” Mr. Addo added.

The Black Starlets have been preparing for an upcoming WAFU Championship slated for Benin from October 17 to 31, 2020. While the Satellites also gear up for their upcoming WAFU Zone B tournament scheduled for Togo from November 14-29, 2020. The 2021 U-20 AFCON tournament is scheduled for Mauritania.

The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association has approved an amount of $100,000 to purchase six thousand (6,000) footballs for grassroot football development via the FIFA Forward 1.0 programme.

This was announced by President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku on Thursday, August 13, 2020 when he met Executives of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association during a working visit at the Accra Sports Stadium.

These footballs will be distributed to the 10 Regional Football Associations for use at Juvenile League game centers, Women’s Division One Clubs, Second and Third Division Clubs and the Juvenile U-17 inter club champions league.

This is one of the landmark projects earmarked under the FIFA Forward 1.0 programme.

The decision is to make a greater amount of footballs available to the Regional Football Associations (RFAs) for their competitions and for the development and forward marching of football at the Regional and District level.

“What is very clear is that we have grassroots football at heart. If we place premium on grassroots football our League will get better and that will have an effect on our National teams,. President Okraku said

“Let’s bear in mind that in the period where our youth teams were dominant on the International stage, our Black Stars was always strong.

“Indeed, we still believe that this is not enough but this is a big statement from the football Association. This, we know, will help grassroots football especially at your game centres for your Juvenile games, Women’s games. I am excited about this day, because this a big commitment from the GFA.

It would be recalled that the GFA, on Thursday, August 06, 2020 announced that a decision has been taken to construct two Astro Turfs – one Prampram and the other at Bolgatanga. The federation has also announced the decision to invest $280,000 into a strategy to improve competitions via the provision of boreholes at game centres across the country with funding from the FIFA Forward 1.0 programme.

Oyerepa FM Sports has hinted that the Kumasi based club could offload 10 players out of the 38 current players.

CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah according to the source hinted the leaders of the playing body and Coach Maxwell Konadu in a meeting.

Nana Yaw Amponsah also told them there will be additions to the current squad and the club will be working with 24 to 28 players.

In a related development, Asante Kotoko players are still owed for 2 months which Nana Yaw Amponsah promised the players leadership he will take it up.

Kotoko Players also complained the club still owes them GHc 2000 each after beating Hearts of Oak 2-1 in the NC Competition which they were promised but yet to be fulfilled.

Players are still owed signing on fees by virtue of the pro rata,this Nana Yaw Amponsah promised he will see to that.

Former Ashantigold midfielder, James Akaminko has put Asante Kotoko on Red alert after revealing he will ‘grab the opportunity’ to join the Ghanaian giants.

Akaminko, who is the junior brother of Ghana defender Jerry Akaminko, has been a target for Asante Kotoko over the years but have failed to land the dominating midfielder due to the price tag of the player which Asante Kotoko were not willing to pay.

And the former Tema Youth star has revealed he will grab the opportunity to join the Kumasi-based side once the Porcupines approach him for his services.

“I’m no more a player of Ashantigold. My contract expired at Ashantigold right after the league was cancelled,” he told Kumasi FM.

“The management asked if I’m available and would like to continue with them but they have failed to reach my manager after I gave them the nod to talk to him”

“I’ve not spoken to coach Maxwell Konadu yet. He spoke to me when I was contracted to Ashgold for a possible transfer to Kotoko, he told me he spoke to the management and it was positive but I’ve not heard from him since”

“I’m yet to hear from him, but I’m willing to play for Kotoko, it will be an honour for a ‘whole’ Kotoko to approach me. I will thank God if I receive a call from Kotoko asking for my services”

“Opting between playing for Kotoko or travelling abroad, I will opt to play here than travelling abroad”

The 24-year-old has previously played for Medeama SC and Tema Youth before joining Ashantigold SC in the 2017/2018 season.
