The Ghana Football Association (GFA), has appointed a three-man Ad-hoc Committee to work with two Consultants to put together a Strategic Business plan for the federation and also a document on the contribution of football to Ghana’s GDP.

The committee is chaired by Dr. Ransford Abbey with George Amoakoh and Frederick Acheampong to serve as members. The three Council members will work closely with the two consultants to ensure the completion of the projects and advice the Executive Council on an execution plan.

The first consultant, Mr. Ben Gustave Barth has many of experience in management consulting, investment banking and commercial banking. He is expected to work with the Committee to produce a four-year Strategic Business Plan for the federation, while Mr. Paul Rex Danquah, a Management Consultant with background in Research and Public Analysis will document on football’s contribution to Ghana’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The contribution of football to the Economy of Ghana is an area that has not been documented in the past but the setting up of this committee will work with the consultant to give the football industry a fair idea of how much the sector contributes to Ghana’s economy on annual basis.

On the other hand, the other consultant is expected to advice the GFA on a four-year Business Development Plan typically focused on the federation’s short to mid-term objectives with an outlook on the long-term goals of the Association and the strategies for achieving them.

The Committee and the two consultants have three months to submit their first draft to the Executive Council.

The Ghana Football Association(GFA) has rescheduled its 26th Ordinary Congress to Tuesday, September 1, 2020.

The meeting was initially fixed for August 27, 2020, but after an Executive Council meeting on Monday, the hierarchy of the football governing body changed the date.

Again, the Congregation which was set to be held Online but the Ghana FA revised its decision and will now be face-to-face.

The Congress which will now be slated for September 1, 2020, will be staged at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

A UK-based Businessman David Akwasi Aninakwah has formally taken over Kotoko Babies Sporting Club, a renowned Colts Football Club-based in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

Mr. Aninakwah finalised all paper works in 2018 and has finally commenced restructuring of the club in the area of player recruitment, the appointment of a competent technical director, head coach, formation of management members, and also setting up a strong communications department made up of expert communicators and seasoned sports journalists.

The football fanatic arrived in Ghana early this year before the outbreak of the  Coronavirus Pandemic and is taking the opportunity to rebrand the club with the hope of making it the home of top young stars who would be transferred to top clubs both in Ghana and outside the country in the coming years.

The new Kotoko Babies President is an entrepreneur and currently runs an international security firm for the elite in society generally in Sports, entertainment, showbiz and others in the United Kingdom.- Advertisement –

Kotoko Babies SC which was established in 1971, have produced some top stars such as Leeds United cult hero Anthony Yeboah, Anthony Osei Kojo, Owusu Banahene, David Sarkodie, Accra Hearts of legend Daniel Coleman and Afrane Yeboah.

Board Member of powerhouse – Asante Kotoko – Dr Kofi Amoa-Abban has disclosed that the Porcupine Warriors are set to put up a TV channel soon.

Amoa-Abban, who is a member of the Porcupine Warriors’ 12-member Board of Directors tweeted that, the club’s TV channel will be airing soon.

However, he did not give much information about the project.

According to footy.ghpush.com/ the Kotoko TV will be a channel on its own and will not be in partnership with any Television Network.

The Kotoko TV will be expected to telecast the training sessions, camping, interviews with players, officials, and other documentaries.

Kotoko currently has Kotoko Express App which has been airing videos of the club.

Hearts Of Oak National Chapters Committee Spokesperson, Kobby Jones has taken a swipe at the club’s Management Team, describing them as ‘incompetent’ following the exit of star striker, Joseph Esso.

The supporter’s scribe who was incensed believes that the management team led by Mr Frederick Moore lacks understanding of the game hence their inability to resign the player.

It will be recalled that Esso along with four other players was released by the Phobians after both parties failed to extend their three-year contract which got expired. Hearts decided against the player’s wish of extending for only one year.

Reports emerged that the supporters succeeded in convincing the player to re-sign for the club in a two-year deal. But the player and the club failed to reach an agreement.

In a recent interview, the Hearts of Oak Managing Director, Frederick Moore accused Esso of peddling lies to the media with regard to how the negotiations hit a snag.

“I don’t want to talk about individual players but people are writing things that are not true. I hope and pray they didn’t get the facts from Joseph Esso, if so then it means they lied”, he told Happy FM.

However, speaking to Fox FM Kobby Jones called for the ‘head’ of the management team because they are incompetent.

“Personally Joseph Esso can not be blamed for his exit from the club, neither can we blame the board chairman on this issue, rather we must blame the management.

“It was never the wish of the player to go for his release letter at our secretariat since there was an upcoming meeting between the player and management, he had a call from the MD to that effect.

“Hearts of Oak must get a sporting director to take care of player transfers for us and allow Frederick Moore to concentrate on the business aspect,” he concluded.

Esso scored 3 goals in 14 games in the now truncated 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season.

The Ghana Football Association has revised its decision to hold its 26th Congress virtually after the president of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo lifted the temporal ban on holding Conferences, Awards and Workshops.

Few weeks ago, the football governing body notified members of the association of its intention to hold the congress online upon a directive of the Registrar of Companies.

‘Kindly be informed that pursuant to Bulletin No 1 of 2020 of the Registrar general’s Department, the congress shall be held through video conferencing as directed by the Registrar of companies [under section 378[2] of the companies Act 2019 [Act 992] due to the ban on Public gathering [current limit is 100 persons whiles congress membership alone is 122, executive Council is 12, staff and media, ” the FA statement to the members read.

The Executive Council of the GFA held a meeting yesterday, and according to Oyerepa FM sources, the GFA has reviewed its decision and will now hold a face-to-face Congress at Prampram.

The Congress is scheduled to come off August 27, 2020
