But he has now held fruitful discussions with Yanga and is set to sign a deal with them.
Crystal Palace F.C. are delighted to confirm Jeffrey Schlupp, James McArthur, Martin Kelly and Stephen Henderson have each signed contract extensions with the club.
Schlupp has made 97 appearances for Palace since joining the club in January 2017, and said of his extended deal: “Last season was a difficult one at times due to injuries.
“However, I’m delighted to have finished it off with a goal against Spurs, feeling 100% and extending my time with the club. I’m already looking forward to hitting the ground running in a few weeks’ time when the season restarts.”
McArthur, who is entering his seventh season with the south Londoners, commented: “When I arrived here in 2014, I didn’t consider the fact that, six years later, I would be making my 200th appearance for the club as I did against Bournemouth last season. I’m proud of what the club has achieved during my time and I’m delighted to be carrying on here.”
Kelly, who has clocked up 145 appearances for the Eagles since his move from Liverpool, said:
“Having lived here for six years, my family are settled in south London and I’m extremely happy at Palace; it’s a close-knit club. I’m proud to have played my part in us establishing eight consecutive seasons in the Premier League, and I’m looking forward to seeing what this squad can achieve this coming season.”
Experienced goalkeeper Henderson has also extended his stay in south London. The shot-stopper, who signed from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2019, said: “I’ve really enjoyed working with Dean [Kiely], plus Wayne [Hennessey] and Vicente [Guaita], too; it’s a great group to be part of. I’m delighted to continue my time with Palace, and I’m ready to contribute should I be called upon.”

According to the former Sports journalist of Otec FM, he was on the spot rejected by the manager of the radio station in his bid to be employed as Sports Analyst at the Radio Station.
Edilson Speaking on Wontumi FM’s Sports program monitored by GHANANEWSCENETR.COM disclosed he was actually rejected by the manager of the radio station because his face did not look like some who can “fire”.
“I went to the radio station and I was rejected by the general manager of the station because my face looked so quiet. He told me my face looked so quiet but here am I working and doing the job” He divulged.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA), is pleased to announce that its application for the UEFA Assist programme for CAF member Associations has been duly approved by European Football governing body, UEFA. The GFA made the application via the Confederation of African Football (CAF), partnership with UEFA for support in the area of technical and grassroots development.
The GFA, through the UEFA Assists programme, requested for a Mini Van to assist the federation in its new grassroots coaching agenda. The Mini Van will enable our Technical men and women to travel around the country to scout for talents and deliver soccer coaching clinics to coaches at the grassroots level.
It would also enable the GFA to build strong youth teams, offer opportunities for kids and alleviate the transportation challenges that hampers the Association’s juvenile coaching programmes in the Regions.
“One of the key things that we have said is the fact that it’s important to get our fundamentals right, so in view of that, we have been looking at how to improve Coaching across board especially as we embark on a journey to establish a fully functional Technical Directorate ” President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku said on Friday, August 21, 2020 during the official outdooring of the Van at the GFA Secretariat in Accra.
“One of the most important needs was to ensure that we provide quality transportation for members of our Technical Directorate as they travel through the length and breadth of the country to scout for players, to run coaching clinics at the grassroots level and to ensure that generally, we improve the capacity of our Coaches across board.
“Having recognized that need, we looked for partners who would help us solve our needs and one of such was the UEFA Assists.
We went through CAF and did the application, and through the hard work of the Secretariat, we now have this amazing Van donated by UEFA through the UEFA Assists programme, to ensure that we get our coaching at the grassroots level to its outmost best, so, I am extremely excited.
“I am very grateful to CAF and UEFA for this amazing assistance. I think that this will go a long way to help our rejuvenated technical directorate to be on the go again.
“And in saying this, let me say kudos to our former Technical Director Francis Oti Akenteng.
“He was key in we, identifying this possibility, he was key in ensuring that Ghana did not lose out on this facility, so I say thanks to him so much.

Spezia Calcio Serie A promotion hero Emmanuel Gyasi is hoping to earn a Black Stars call-up after an impressive season in the Serie B.
Gyasi’s solitary strike in the first leg of the Serie B playoffs was enough to snatch promotion into the top-flight of Italian football.
Speaking from his base in Italy with Asempa FM, Gyasi expressed his dream of getting the opportunity to feature for the four-time Africa champions.

Earlier this week, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed the resumption of qualifiers to the next AFCON and FIFA World Cup tournament.

Hearts of Oak forward Abednego Tetteh has urged the Ghana FA to intensify their operations to ensure the quick return of football activities as seen n other African countries.
Football activities have been suspended since mid-March following the COVID-19 pandemic breakout .
Abednego Tetteh, who joined the Phobians on a three-year deal in January this year is yet to feature for the club in a competitive game. This is due to the truncation of the 2019-20 season.
According to him, the Ghana FA should speed up to see the return of the game as other Aftica countries with higher recorded COVID-19 cases have restarted their leagues.
”South Africa’s cases are more than Ghana. If I watch them and Tanzania playing football I became so sad. The FA should push hard for the resumption of football,” Tetteh told Hello FM in Kumasi.
He added that the long absence of football has affected me because it was unexpected
”We have missed the game. We thought the break was going to be short. I’m surprised we have sat home for about eight months without playing football, this is unforgettable.”
The Ghana Football Association is still in talks with government to ensure the resumption of football in October.
New Edubiase United President, Abdul Salam Yakubu has called on Ghanaian clubs to exercise patience despite the delay in the return of football in the country.
The President of Ghana banned all sporting activities in mid-March following the COVID-19 breakout.
During the 14th Speech of Nana Akufo-Addo, restrictions on non-contact sports were lifted. Two female national teams – Black Princesses and Maidens – were also given presidential clearance to start preparation for qualifiers to Caf and Fifa tournaments.
Unfortunately, nothing was said about contact sports during the president’s last speech Sunday.
Abdul Salam indicated that the president cannot be blamed for the delay because the restrictions were put in place to protect Ghanaians and the football fraternity at large.
“It’s the COVID-19 that halted everything and not the president’s fault. It’s a global issue. The government took such decisions to protect Ghanaians and the football fraternity. Churches and Mosques were all affected by the restrictions, ” he told Hello FM
“Last week, the football fraternity was happy because we thought the president was going to lift the restrictions on football, but nothing was said about it.
“It’s a big blow to our players especially. It’s a global issue so we cannot blame the president. I think we should calm down. I have heard the president saying the game will be resuming now and that’s positive.
“I know in his next speech he may live the ban on football.
He added, “For now, I think we should be allowed to start training, that will not be bad. So that we start the season in October or November.”
Ghana Premier League side AshantiGold SC has given release letters to five players ahead of the new campaign after failing to impress.
According to Oyerepa FM, the Miners have released Akwasi Nti, Stephen Owusu, Emmanuel Osei Baffour, Benedict Wobenu and Musa Mohammed
Wobenu joined the Obuasi-based club prior to the commencement of the truncated 2019-20 Ghana Premier League. His contract has been terminated after failing to live up to expectation.
Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Akwasi Nti has also been shown the exit door.
Emmanuel Osei Baffiour who returned to the club from Karela United as well as Stephen Owusu have been released and must look elsewhere.
The four-time Ghana Premier League winners will represent Ghana in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup following the cancellation of the 2019-20 season due to the COVID-19.
They have started augmenting the squad ahead of the 2020/21 season with the acquisition of Hans Kwoffie. Experienced forward Yahaya Mohammed is also close to joining the Miners on loan.

According to the former Bechem United forward, Esso’s absence will pave the way for other young players in the team to showcase their talents because they will be getting much playing time.
He also stated that the Rainbow Club will not be affected by the exit of the former Ebusua Dwarfs’ forward striker since the coach has enough time to replace him before football resume in Ghana.
Esso failed to extend his contract with the Ghanaian Giants after his initial three-year dwarfed. The former Ebusua Dwarfs forward was only ready to renew by just a year which the club disagreed.
Tetteh is optimistic that the club will be successful in the absence of Esso although his quality cannot be questioned.
“No one can dispute Esso’s talent. I have a not played with him in games before, I have only watched him and I must say he is a good player. His presence could help win the league or lose as well, ” he told Hello FM.
He continued, “We will discover someone in his absence. It’s an opportunity for someone too. No one knew Daniel Aftiyie before the truncated league began. There are others who don’t get a chance to play because of Esso.
“If he had left while the league was ongoing, then there would be loopholes but since we’re not playing at the moment, the coach has the opportunity to replace him before the league starts.”

“I think we should all forget about the issue. Will we call him to come and play if he dies? We should take it like we have lost something that we’ll not get again and focus on the league when football returns.
