Jordan Ayew nets brace as Crystal Palace beat Charlton Athletic in pre-season friendly

0

Ghana striker Jordan Ayew was on the score sheet twice for Crystal Palace in their preseason win over Charlton Athletic.

Three second half goals powered Crystal Palace to a victory over the English Championship side in their preseason clash on Saturday afternoon.

After lack of goals in the first half, the 28-year-old opened the score for the Eagles lads with a superb finish on the 63rd minute.

Ayew, hungry for his second, mopped up a low Townsend through-ball and cannoned home from 12 yards or more – condensing his side’s then-tally into a remarkable four minutes.

His teammate Wilfried Zaha sealed their win with his goal on the 88th minute of the game.

Ayew enjoyed 83 minutes of the match. He had an incredible campaign with Crystal Palace last season, scoring nine goals in 39 matches.

Felix Annan opens up on Kotoko exit talks amid Maxwell Konadu rift rumours

0

Felix Annan has opened up about his future with Asante Kotoko amid speculation that the goalkeeper will leave the Baba Yara Stadium due to falling out of favour with boss Maxwell Konadu.

Annan was dropped to the bench for seven of Kotoko’s last thirteen games before the season was suspended and later cancelled amid the coronavirus outbreak, with Maxwell Konadu opting to play back-up goalkeeper Kwame Baah instead.

However, the former WAFA star insists that he has not thought of leaving the club if not guaranteed the no. 1 spot when football resumes as speculated and also outlined his determination to regain his place as the Reds’ no.1.- Advertisement –

“There’s no truth in it”, he responded to rumour stating he has told the Board and the technical team that he would leave the club if not guaranteed the no.1 spot.

He continued, “My target is to work and reclaim my position when football resumes but there’s no truth in those rumours. I’ve not met or had any meeting with any official at the club concerning those speculations”

The 25-year-old further talked about his relationship with head coach Maxwell Konadu, insisting that he has no rift with the boss but unsure of Maxwell Konadu’s side.

“Personally I have no issues with him [Maxwell Konadu] but if he rather has issues with me then I have no idea. I would have been bold to tell him if I have problems with him and he as well has not told me he has problems with me,” he said during an interview with German-based Topical Radio with former multimedia journalist, Frank Agyeam, Pipapipaman.

“As far I know, I have no problem with him but if he has with me, I really can’t tell because he has not disclosed that to me so whatever it is, he has the best answers to that because those people saying that do their analysis based on how they see it so he [Konadu] is the best person to give an explanation to them. He is the coach so if anything he should be bold to give that explanation when ask.”

Felix Annan joined Asante Kotoko first team in 2011 after a loan spell with Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord, now WAFA and was handed the captain’s armband last year after the departure of Amos Frimpong.

However, the Public Relations Officer of the club, Evans Oppong has revealed that managers of trio Caleb Amankwah, Eric Opoku and Joseph Addo are making contract extension talks difficult.

Caleb Amankwaah

He indicated that agents of players should desist from inciting players not to extend their stay with their clubs after using the platform to build themselves.

“It is high time we all begin to discuss this unfortunate trend where managers of players incite them not to renew contact when their contracts are running down. It has happened to Hearts, Ashgold and now Aduana. These players leveraged the platforms of the clubs to make a name but are now holding the clubs to ransom, ” he told Akoma FM in Kumasi.

“Aduana wants to renew the contracts of Caleb Amankwah, Elvis Opoku and Joseph Addo but their managers are making things difficult.”

Public Relations Officer of Aduana Stars, Evans Oppong has revealed that the imminent move of Yahaya Mohammed to AshantiGold has not gone through because the team owner – Osagyefo Oseadeeyo  Nana Agyemang Badu II, is yet to approve the deal.

According to him, the Management of the Dormaa-based side has considered the Miners’ proposal and are awaiting the final go-ahead from the Dormaahene.

AshantiGold wants to augment their squad with the acquisition of the former Asante Kotoko forward as they will represent Ghana in the 2020-21 CAF Confederation Cup.

Speaking to Akoma FM in Kumasi, Oppong said he is certain the move will be completed soon.

“Yahya told us that he will only make the move to Ashgold if Dormaahene approves the move because he sees Nana as his Godfather.

“Management has considered the proposal of Ashgold for Yahya Mohammed, it is left for Nana Dormaahene to sanctioned the deal but he is yet to do that because he is saddled with lots of responsibilities but we are certain that he will give his word on the move very soon.”

Ghanaian trio of Abu Francis, Kamal-Deen Sulemana and Clinton Antwi all had their names on the score sheet for FC Nordsjaelland in their 5-4 victory against HB Koge in pre-season.

The trio Abu Francis, Kamal-Deen Sulemana and Clinton Antwi helped to secure a hard-fought win over HB Koge in their first preseason game ahead of the upcoming Danish top-flight season.
