Former Asante Kotoko National Circles Council Chairman, Kwaku Amponsah affectionately known as K5 has admonished the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Nana Yaw Amponsah to avoid the appointment of any former management member of the club into his new management team.

Nana Yaw Amponsah was unveiled as the new CEO of the Porcupine Warriors on August 7, 2020. He is, however, yet to name the management team he will be working with the next three years.

Reports in the local media are that former General Manager of the side, Nana Gyambibi Coker has been handed the role of Operations Manager.

A report many followers of the club rejected, insisting they do not want to see any old face in the yet-to-be-announced management team of the club.

And, Chairman K5 has echoed the supporters’ grievances in an interview with Kumasi-based Hello FM.

“If we want to ensure the current administration work peacefully he should not appoint any old management member to be part of the new management team.

He admonished all the stakeholders of Ghanaian giants to put an end to the unnecessary politics in the team which has halted their progress.

“The politics within the team is too much. We should put an end to the factions in the team. I support the idea of appointing only new people to occupy the positions in management.

“Otumfuo’s statement during the inauguration of the board of directors indicated that we should start from ground zero. So, it means the previous management failed. Why should they be appointed again after failing us?

He continued, “For me, I support the appointment of new people and I know Nana Yaw Amponsah has some people in mind having met the board to sell his ideas to them.

He urged all the stakeholders of the club to rally behind the CEO to succeed.

“We should all come together as one family and support him to succeed.”

Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku has called on all stakeholders of the game to rally behind the current administration to help develop football in the West African country.

Addressing delegates at the 26th Ghana Football Association Ordinary Congress at the Ghanaian Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, the GFA boss urged the football fraternity to build a united front and reject individuals who tarnish the brand of the association.

He advised football people to desist from destroying the image of the FA’s product with negative submissions.

“I must say that it is football that brings all of us together as a country,” he said at Congress.

“Let’s come together and build our football. This is the sport that has made me who I am today. This is the sport that brings the country together.

“Despite the hard work done by the GFA, a few of us do not think about this family; there are a few of us, who perhaps only think about their personal interest; there are still a few of us who do not think about the total good of our football,” an emotional Okraku noted.

“There are a few of us who continuously go out of this family and go out to the public space to malign your product, my product, your business. We must reject these people,” he admonished.

“If I go to corporate Ghana on daily basis preaching Ghana football and yet some of us, just a few of us, continuously damage the image of the product we intend to love, that we spend our money on, we need to reject these people; we must say no to such people.

“Again, football is the only sport that brings all of us together. Football cuts across all religions, all political divides.

“There’s only one football family; there cannot be two, we must always have one.

“We will disagree on issues, we will disagree on how I should work, but let’s think Ghana football first,” he added.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Issac Kwame Asiamah said Government will cut sod for the construction of a Multi Purpose Sports Complex at the deteriorating Kaladan Park in Tamale.

The Minister revealed that government is in the process of securing funds to put up sports facilities at some traditional venues such as Nkawkaw park, Waterloo in Mampong and the Kaladan park.

The complex is part of the government’s efforts to improve the development of sports in the country and it will also be the basis for plans to bid for the hosting rights of some of the continent’s leading sporting events.

Recently, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo cut sod for the construction of a water project at Kaladan and so many will wonder how government intends to put up the Multi Purpose Sports Complex.

Construction works on the Nhyinahin Multi-purpose Youth and Sports Resource Centre and other Sports projects across Ghana are nearing completions. Mr. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Minister for Youth and Sports confirmed when addressing the football Community at the 26th Ordinary Congress at Prampram.

The Ghana Football Association have converged at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence at Prampram for its 26th ordinary session of Congress today, September 1, 2020.

Delegates will deliberate on the agenda and usher in the upcoming football season.

However, large amendments to the statutes will not be done due to Fifa’s directives to discontinue it.

The United Nations has awarded renowned sports journalist, Kwabena Gyamfi, affectionately known as Sir Joe Laka the Global Presidential Award of the Decade for his service to humanity for the year 2020 as the Face of Sports in Africa.

The 7th Global Leadership Service To Humanity Awards was held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra on Friday, 28th August 2020.

It was held to honour some distinguished personalities in various categories with the Order of the Star Awards

The successful recipients of the prestigious awards were from politics, traditional leaders, business, financial institutions, religion, education, energy, mining, health, media, SPORTS, entertainment and other sectors.

Sir Laka was awarded in the Sports category as the Face of Sports in Africa. He has won quite a few awards in his lifetime including winning the RTP best Sports show hosts on three consecutive times.

The Global Legacy summit is organised in honour of the late UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan. It recognises media achievements on nation-building, excellence, global score for inter-country governance and sustainable leadership.

The Iran Ambassador in Ghana chaired the function which saw the Army Band in attendance. The Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Efe Amanor, D Black and Michael Owusu Addo aka Sarkodie were among the award winners.
