Kotoko to build an ultra-modern training facility within 3 months – Nana Yaw Amponsah

Chief Executive officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah has revealed that the Board of Directors has approved for the outfit, to build an ultra-modern training facility within 3 months.

Nana Yaw Amponsah made mention of this during the unveiling of the new management team on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at the Sports Hotel in Kumasi.

According to him, the development is part of the club’s short and medium plan.

“Going Forward you are going to see 3D images of our new training facility and you will understand the direction of the club.

“To acquire the right players we need such facilities in place and it’s important we do so. This forms part of our Shot and medium plan.

Asante Kotoko 90% through to sign a partnership with English Premier League side – CEO

Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer, Nana Yaw Amponsah has disclosed that the club is on the verge of securing a partnership deal with an English Premier League side.

The young and vibrant football administrator revealed this during the unveiling of the team’s new management team on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at the Sports Hotel in Kumasi.

He indicated that talks about the deal are about 90 per cent done, and it will be announced soon.

According to Nana Yaw Amponsah, the club in question have one of the best academies in England, and all aspects of the club will tap into the club to get better.

Kotoko used to have such a relationship with another EPL side Sunderland during the era of Dr. KK Sarpong as Executive Chairman.

Prior to the unveiling of Nana Yaw Amponsah as the Porcupine Warriors CEO, he was linked with a move to Queens Park Rangers.

However, other reports indicate that the deal could be with Southampton.

Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer, Nana Yaw Amponsah has disclosed that some of the people in the new Management Team agreed to a pay-cut of at least 30 per cent to accept the offer to join the team.

The CEO revealed this during the unveiling of the newly-formed management team on Tuesday, September 22, 20,20 at the Sports Hotel in Kumasi.

The members of the new team include Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi who used to work at the Ghana Football Association as deputy General Secretary, Moses Antwi Benefo who worked with Ghana National Petroleum Company(GNPC) and David Obeng Nyarko, a former CEO Tano Bofoakwa. He also held some positions on the GFA division one board.

Others are award-winning TV personality Akosua Dentaa Amoateng and Akua Pokuaa Kwarteng. Eric Amoako-Twum is a spokesperson for the ruling New Patriotic Party, Nilo Effori – a Uk-based Sports Lawyer from Brazil and Thomas Sewordzi.

Nana Yaw Amponsah was elated by the team he has put together and indicated that people have been asking him how he managed to get them to join Kotoko.

He revealed that some of the people on his team took a pay cut of 30%, 50%, and 80% to join this team.

Nana Yaw Amponsah was unveiled as the CEO of the Reds to steer affairs of the club in the next three years.

Asante Kotoko to donate GHS 5,000 to Offinso accident victims

Asante Kotoko management has taken a decision to donate GHS 5, 000 to help with the payment of the medical bills of the Offinso accident victims.

This was announced by the Chief Executive Officer of the Porcupine Warriors, Nana Yaw Amponsah during the unveiling of the 8-member Management Team on Tuesday, at the Sports Hotel in Kumasi.

This follows an accident on Saturday, involving about 36 young Ghanaian footballers of colts club, Africa Vision Soccer Academy claiming the lives of eight footballers as the minibus they were travelling on submerged into the Ofinso river.

Unfortunately, six of the young footballers died on the spot with two dying later at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi on Sunday.

They have also promised to attend all funerals of the deceased and help out. They have called on other clubs to do the same to help revive colts football in the country.

The GFA on Sunday, September 20, 2020, sent a delegation led by Executive Council member Frederick Acheampong and Ashanti Regional Football Association Chairman, Osei Tutu Agyemang to Offinso to commiserate with families of the victims and to visit the injured players.

Ghana FA Executive Council donates monthly allowance to accident victims

The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has taken a decision to donate their monthly allowance for the month of September 2020 to the Offinso accident victims.

All the members of the Council collectively decided on Monday, September 21, 2020 to support the victims.

This follows an accident on Saturday, involving about 34 young footballers of Africa Vision Soccer Academy claiming the lives of seven footballers as the minibus they were travelling on plunged into the Ofinso river.

Sadly, six of the young footballers died on the spot while one who was in a critical condition died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi on Sunday.

Ten of the victims were treated at the St. Patrick’s Hospital and have been discharged.

Daniel Kofi Kyere’s two quick late goals secure St. Pauli point at Bochum

Ghanaian forward, Daniel Kofi Kyere scored a brace for his new club St. Pauli on Monday at VFL Bochum.

Robert Zulj broke the deadlock of the match on the 29th minutes of the match to put the host 1-0 up.

14 minutes from full time, Simon Zoller doubled the host’s advantage by grabbing the second goal on the 76th minute to make it 2-0 to the host who at the time were not far from opening day victory.

Two minutes later, Lukas Daschner provided a deft touch to set up the Ghanaian in the 18-yard box to power home the equalizer this time with his left foot into the bottom left corner to restore parity for the away team.

The match ended 2-2 as both sides settled for a point each after a pulsating encounter.

The 24-year-old Ghanaian has two goals in a match for St. Pauli in the Bundesliga 2 after first round of fixtures.

Red-hot attacker John Antwi scores again in Pyramids win

Ghanaian forward, John Antwi scored again in the Egyptian Premier League on Monday night for Pyramids FC against Harras El Hodood.

The former XI Wise attacker netted the first goal in the game after 37 minutes to put the host 1-0 up in a frustrating encounter before the break.

The first half ended 1-0 to the dominant home team who were unfortunate to have not led by two or three goals after a blistering performance in the opening half.

With five minutes to full time, the Ghanaian attacker was redrawn from the game as Eric Traoré took his place.

Pyramids FC are pursuing a second-place finish which would secure them a CAF Champions League slot and would be hoping for a slip up from Zamalek in the last two games.

Date for Asante Kotoko players to report ahead of Caf CL revealed

Asante Kotoko players have been told to report in Kumasi on Wednesday September 23, 2020 to commence preparations ahead of the 2020-21 Caf Champions League preliminary round.

The President of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his 17th Address to the Nation on the update of novel COVID-19 pandemic on Sunday announced for the return of football on 30th October, 2020 after seven months of suspension.


And Asante Kotoko has informed their players to report immediately to start full-scale training session for both CAF Champions League and the Ghana Premier League.

According to our sources, the players will go through mandatory COVID-19 test before they will commence training at the Adako Jachie Training complex.

The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association on June 30, 2020 settled on Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold to represent Ghana in next season’s Caf Champions League and Caf Confederation Cup respectively.

The preliminary round of matches of CAF inter-club competitions will kick-off from 27th November, 2020.

However, first registration period will start from 21st October to 10th November, 2020.

The deal was announced Monday on both the club’s official handle and that of Instat.

Kotoko to hold first Management Press Conference

Chief Executive Officer, Nana Yaw Amponsah will hold his first press conference on Tuesday at 11 am.

Nana Yaw Amponsah will be introducing his Management team, which he named last Friday, to the media.

The event is slated for the Sports Hotel in Kumasi. Admission is, however, strictly by invitation.

The astute football administrator was appointed by the Board to steer the club on a three-year mandate.
