The Brazilian arrived at the club’s training centre on Tuesday to familiarise with the new teammates he will playing with this season

Brazilian midfielder Fabio da Silva Gama was spotted at Asante Kotoko training ground on Tuesday to meet and greet the first team and technical staff of the club.

The 28-year-old arrived in Ghana on Monday after an initial delay as reports suggested that he missed his flight in Ethiopia due to rigorous Coronavirus disease tests in Ethiopia while making a transit in the Eastern African country.

Gama, who was in the company with his young son, was introduced to head coach Maxwell Konadu and assistant assistant coaches and all the medical team members in a fashionable style.

With Kotoko seriously eyeing the top-flight and aiming for at least qualification to the group stage of Caf Champions League, Gama is expected to bring on board his vast experience to help coach Maxwell Konadu to attain the desired results.

Gama previously played for Varnamo and Botafogo in his native country and he is expected to help the club to win the top-flight and reach the group stage of the Caf Champions League.

He will likely miss Kotoko’s away trip to Golden City Park next weekend to face Berekum Chelsea on matchday of Ghana Premier League.

Ghana were shocked 1-0 in Omdurman by Sudan in 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match on Tuesday afternoon.

It is the Black Stars first defeat of the qualifiers after three straight victories.

Nine points from three games meant Charles Akonnor’s side would have become the third country to qualify had they drew or won against Sudan.

The defeat doesn’t change the fact they can still qualify. All the Black Stars have to do is avoid defeat in the remaining games against South Africa (away) and Sao Tome and Principe (home).

2021 Afcon Q: Abdul Rahman’s last-minute goal for Sudan delays Ghana’s qualification

0

Sudan danger-man Mohammed Abdul Rahman’s last minute goal snatched AFCON qualification from Ghana to hand Sudan a lifeline in the qualifiers.

The MC Algiers forward rose high to connect to a cross in injury time to secure victory for the home side.

The Black Stars began the game brightly, controlling the first 15 minutes but lost steam as the Sudanese took over creating some chances.

Fatau Dauda, who is deputizing for suspended Richard Ofori pulled the save of the half to deny Sudan from taking a first half lead.

Ghana’s closest opportunity at goal came when Mubarak Wakaso weaved in a pass but Tariqe Fosu was inches late as goalkeeper Abdallah Ashrin cleared for Sudan.

The Black Stars returned from the break with similar approach they started as Jordan Ayew drew a fantastic save from the Sudanese goalie with a long drive.  Ghana had two quick corners which were wasted.

The tides turned again with the Sudanese pushing for an opener, creating chances but the Ghanaian defense were equal to the task, with Djiku and Boye resolute in the heart of defense.

Fatau Dauda produced another timely save to stop danger-man Abdul Rahman from wining a win on one with Djiku.

Abdul Rahman finally broke the deadlock after rising above the Ghanaian defense to connect a cross from the right and grab all three points for the North Africans.
