Head coach of Hearts of Oak Kosta Papic has called up twenty (20) players for the Ghana Premier League double header against Aduana Stars and King Faisal Babies, leaving out misfiring striker Abednego Tetteh and second-choice goalkeeper Richmond Ayi.

Hearts of Oak hogged the headlines over the weekend with their vintage performance in the 3-0 win against Dreams FC on matchday 5.

It was the Phobians first win of the season after playing two draws and one loss.

The Rainbow club are looking to continue the form demonstrated at home when they play as guests to Aduana Stars in an outstanding fixture at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in midweek.

Hearts of Oak will make a short trip to the Techiman Ohene Ameyaw Park after the Aduana game to engage King Faisal Babies in Week 6 of the campaign on Sunday.

Coach Papic has called up twenty players for the two games but there was no sign of Abednego Tetteh and Richmond Ayi in the squad.

Tetteh, who has been under severe pressure for the past two weeks, was omitted from the squad that made a light work of Dreams FC on Sunday.

Ayi meanwhile made the Matchday squad in that game, deputizing for Richard Attah.

It is however unknown why the agile goalkeeper has been left out of the squad.

Hearts Of Oak marksman, Kwadwo Obeng Jnr. says he will score at least a goal against struggling Aduana Stars when they lock horns at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Wednesday afternoon.

The game was initially scheduled for match-day 1 of the ongoing 2020-21 Ghana Premier League but was postponed due to Coronavirus disease issues. However, it is now slated for Wednesday, December 16, 2020.

Obeng Jnr currently is among five players who are leading the top scorer’s chart with 3 goals each.

He opened his goal-scoring account in the second week with a brace when the Phobians played a 2-2 stalemate with Ashantigold SC at the Accra Sports Stadium.

He netted his side’s first goal on match-day 5 when Hearts thumped Dreams FC 3-0 on Sunday.

Kwadwo Obeng Jnr has promised to score in Dormaa in an interview with Fox FM.

“My goals are still waiting for me at Dormaa Ahenkro, and I will score them.

He is hoping to emerge as the top scorer for the season although his greatest wish is to see his club win the league trophy which has eluded them for 11 years.

“My target for this season is to help Hearts of Oak win this year’s league, but winning the top scorer’s award will be a plus for me.”

Hearts are currently occupying the 8th position on the 18-club league with 5 points from 4 games.

Some teams and players have impressed so far in Week 5 of the Ghana Premier League.

On Friday night, Asante Kotoko pipped Legon Cities 1 – 0 courtesy Osman Ibrahim’s 10th-minute strike to record their season’s first win at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Hafiz Konkoni and Moro Salifu’s goals secured an emphatic 2 – 1 victory over Inter Allies on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium with Paul Abanga getting the consolation for Inter Allies.

The Accra derby saw Liberty Professionals beating Great Olympics 1 – 0 at home. Simon Appiah got the only goal for the scientific soccer lads.

Karela United easily swept aside King Faisal, courtesy a 2 – 0 win at home. Diawisie Taylor and Kwame Boateng got the goals for Karela United.

In the Bono derby, Eleven Wonders thwarted the chances of Aduana Stars to walk home with a point. Yahaya Mohammed got the goal for the Ogya boys and Samuel Boakye scored for Eleven Wonders.

AshantiGold thumped Elmina Sharks 4 – 2 at home. Whereas Benjamin Boateng registered brace for Elmina Sharks, Appiah McCarthy, Dacosta Boadu and David Abagna pencilled their names on the score sheet for the miners.

West African Football Academy, WAFA, kept all points at home as they easily dispatched Berekum Chelsea. Augustine Boakye and Daniel Lomotey were goal heroes for the youthful side.

In the last match of the day, Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium recorded their first league win of the season after thrashing Dreams FC 3-0. Kwadwo Obeng Jnr and Michelle Sarpong (2x) were the scorers for the Phobians.

Accra Hearts of Oak were simply unstoppable on Sunday when they took on Dreams FC in a match day five fixture as they outclassed their opponents to win 3-0 at the Accra sports stadium.

Michelle Sarpong netted a brace, after a Kwadwo Obeng Junior opener to give Hearts of Oak their first win of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League campaign.

Hearts coach Kosta Papic took charge of his first match since his appointment and the Serbian made four changes to the starting lineup.

Michelle Sarpong got the game’s first chance against the run but his powerful low shot swept across the face of goal. Hearts of Oak’s first goal scorer Obeng Junior, rattled the cross-bar from inside the box with a delivery on his left foot.

His hard work eventually paid off in the 38th minute when he beautifully shot into the bottom corner to finish off a counter attack from the left side of the Hearts of Oak attack.

Patrick Razak stole the ball from Issah Yakubu, approached the box and released Obeng on the right to prod home.

Dreams FC should have taken the lead early on but Issah Ibrahim, who was left unmarked inside the box, headed wide after a lovely corner-kick whipped in from the left flank.

Hearts of Oak were forced to make a substitution in the 30^th minute after Manaf Umar replaced Ansah Botchway who picked up an injury.

In the 35th minute Dantani Amadu hit the side net from a Dreams FC free kick.

Back from recess, Michell Sarpong doubled Hearts of oak’s lead in the 48^th minute to leave Dreams FC in an unstable situation.

The Dawu based side started the game two of their best players Joseph Esso and Emmanuel Ocran in their line-up.

The two players were later brought on the second half but that had no bearing on the team as Hearts of Oak stole the show with some brilliant displays from Obeng Junior, Patrick Razak and Michelle Sarpong.

The Dreams FC defenders were caught sleepwalking and paid dearly for that shock defending.

The game was put to bed in the 89^th minute when Michelle Sarpong headed home from close range to score his brace, third for Accra Hearts of Oak on the night.

Dreams FC have not won a game since their match day two, 2-1 win against Medeama SC at the theatre of Dreams.
