The Ghana Premier League witnessed another fantastic weekend of action at the various venues. It was Derby Weekend in the Ghanaian top-flight.

Great Olympics silenced rivals Hearts Of Oak 2-0 in Accra on Saturday.

Kwame Peprah struck hat-trick as King Fsissl recovered from a 3-0 to beat Berekum Chelsea 4-3.

At the Sogakope Park, WAFA dismantled Liberty Professionals 5-0.

But the Ashanti Derby ended in a stalemate at Obuasi.

The regional derby game between AshantiGold and Kotoko ended in a stalemate after both sides failed to score a goal.

Kotoko started brightly in the opening exchanges. Kwame Poku’s goalbound effort was brilliantly saved by Bailou Mohammed.

Ashantigold also created opportunities but failed to beat Razak Abalora in the first half.

The second half was the same with both sides creating opportunities and none finding the net.

Ashantigold are 5th and Kotoko are 7th on the log.

Accra Hearts of Oak SC have been slapped with another administrative blow from the Ghana Football Association after their 0-2 home defeat at the hands of Accra Great Olympics FC.

The Phobians suffered their first defeat against their regional rivals in nearly 17 years and have now seen their woes compounded by the Ghana Football Association.

An official communiqué from the Ghana FA banned supporters from watching Accra Hearts of Oak SC home fixtures for breaching COVID 19 protocols issued jointly by the GMA and COVID 19 control team.

Management of Accra Hearts of Oak SC has been summoned before the disciplinary committee of Ghana FA for further discussion on the congested fans allowed into the Mantse derby.

Ghana football Association pleaded with government to allow limited fans into the stadium in the midst of the dreaded COVID 19 pandemic.

The various stadia have been 25 percent entry after several calls from the Ghana Football Association.

Great Olympics put up a vintage performance to beat city rivals Hearts Of Oak 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday evening.

The two capital-based clubs locked horns in a match-day 11 encounter.

Glasdson Awako opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a direct stunning free-kick. They quickly scored the second goal in the 17th minute through Maxwell Abbey to secure the needed victory.

In-form Gladson Awako netted from a direct free-kick on Saturday evening to propel Great Olympics to defeat Hearts of Oak in the first ‘Mantse Derby’ of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season.

The two capital-based clubs faced off at the Accra Sports Stadium in a match-day 11 battle of the ongoing Ghanaian top-flight league campaign.

The Dade Boys had not beaten the Phobians in the last seventeen and they were poised to beat Kosta Papic’s charges after an impressive start to the season.

Hearts of Oak had a bright start with a delightful play from the midfield of the team attracting applause from the fans who were in the stands.

But they failed to make good use of their dominance, as they got themselves punished in the 13^th minute when they conceded a free-kick in a dangerous position. Nuru Sulley was adjudged to have tucked the shirt of Maxwell Abbey.

Great Olympics talisman Gladson Awako stepped up for the kick and expertly converted into the top corner of the post, beating goalkeeper Ayi at his near post.

Yaw Preko’s Boys quickly scored again in the17th minute through Maxwell Quaye to double their lead, with the assist coming from the younger brother of Maxwell, Samuel Ashie-Quaye.

Hearts of Oak came close to reducing the deficit in the 43rd minute but Nuru Sulley’s header went just wide. The first half ended 0-2.

The Phobians pressed hard to return into the game but could not score despite the several attempts.

The result sees Great Olympics moving up to third on the Ghana Premier League table as Hearts of Oak drop to sixth.

Kwame Peprah’s hat-trick ensured King Faisal came from behind to beat Berekum Chelsea 4-3 in this matchday 11 fixture at the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman.

King Faisal went down 3-0 in the first half but rally from behind to pick all three points against Berekum Chelsea.

Paul Attah Adjei opened the scoring for Berekum Chelsea in the ninth minute with the first shot on target in the game after the King Faisal defense went to sleep.

Berekum Chelsea increased the lead in the 13th minute after Stephen Amankonaa beat the King Faisal defender and hit a drive to beat the goalkeeper.

Paul Attah Adjei scored his second goal of the game with a beautiful strike as Berekum Chelsea went 3-0 up.

Albert Mensah’s free kick was carried away by the Berekum Chelsea goalkeeper as King Faisal tried to pull one back from the set piece in the 27^th minute

Referee Ben Quayson awarded a penalty to King Faisal in the 38^th minute after a cross from the corner kick hit the hand of Berekum Chelsea player Ushaw in the box

Kwame Peprah scored from the spot to  pull reduce the deficit for King Faisal from the penalty in the 39^th minute

The homeside control the game afterwards in search of more goals but the first half ended with Berekum Chelsea going into the break with a 3-1 lead.

King Faisal dominated play in the second half as they chased for the equalizer.

Frimpong Boateng hit a lovely strike from 40 yards to get the second goal for King Faisal in 56^th minute as they pushed for the equalizer.

Kwame Nino Peprah got the equalizer for King Faisal in the 78^th minute with a beautiful strike to record his second goal of the game.

Peprah got his hat-trick late in the game to secure the winner for  the Insha Allah boys.

It was his seventh goal of the season in the ongoing campaign.

The victory is also King Faisal’s second home win of the season.

Hafiz Konkoni was on target as Bechem United came from behind to secure a 3-1 win against Eleven Wonders at the Nana Gyeabour Park in a match-day 11 fixture of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

The guests opened the scoring in the 17th minute after Samuel Boakye connected a pass from midfielder Ollenu Ashittey to score his first goal on the day.

The Hunters levelled 15 minutes from full-time through a penalty kick which was nicely converted by Emmanuel Owusu Boakye.

Hafiz Wontah Konkoni struck the second for Bechem in the 83th minute before Listowell Amankona netted to put the game beyond Wonders on the stroke of full time.
