Asante secured a slender 1-0 victory over struggling Inter Allies on matchday 12 of the Ghana Premier League Wednesday evening.

A solitary strike from Guinea import Naby Laye Keita handed the Porcupine Warriors.

He converted a 68th-minute penalty after striker Kwame Opoku was brought down in the box.

Asante Kotoko handed Inter Allies their fifth defeat of the season in this match day 12 fixture.

Naby Keita scored from the penalty spot in the 67th minute to ensure the Porcupine Warriors returned to winning ways.

Asante Kotoko dominated proceedings in the first half but were unable to put the ball at the  back of the net.

Inter Allies Paul Abagna effort in the opening minutes was unable to trouble the Kotoko goalkeeper.

In the 26th minute Emmanuel Gyamfi’s goalbound shot was blocked and Imoro Ibrahim inswinger from the rebound falls on Kwame Opoku, but the striker could not hold on to the ball as a defender clears it to safety.

The first half ended goalless as both sides shared the spoils after 45 minutes.

In the second half Kwame Poku was fouled in the box and the referee awarded a penalty to Kotoko.

Naby Keita was up to the task as he scored from the spot  to put the home side infront.

Inter Allies nearly came up with an equalizer in the 83rd minute of the game as Nafiu Sulemana shot at goal at the edge of the penalty box was blocked by Kotoko defender Wahab Adams.

Emmanuel Gyamfi’s sprint into the goal area of Inter Allies nearly resulted into a second goal for the home side but his pass to Emmanuel Sarkodie was intercepted by the defenders .

The win puts Kotoko back in pole position to compete for the league title.

Struggling Berekum Chelsea maintained their unbeaten home run with a 2-0 victory over Bechem United Wednesday afternoon.

The two sides locked horns in a matchday 12 encounter of the Ghana Premier League at the Golden City Park.

Chelsea entered the game as wounded lions after picking up just a point in their last three games and delivered an impressive performance at home to secure a win in the Bono regional derby.

Despite their impressive start, the first half ended with no goal from either side.

The Bibiries opened the scoring in the 48th minute courtesy a strike from Collins Ameyaw.

With 14 minutes to end the game, the hosts doubled their lead through Kofi Owusu.

Berekum Chelsea has now won three home games this season and drawn the other three.

Berekum Chelsea has now climbed to 14th position on the log, 2 points above the relegation zone while Bechem remain third.

Dreams FC remain unbeaten in 2021 after defeating WAFA 3-0 at the Dawu Theater of Dreams on Wednesday afternoon.

Second half goals from Sulemana Fahadu and Issah Ibrahim ensured the host picked all three points on match day 12 of the Ghana Premier League.

Dreams FC started brightly and could have taken the lead after just two minutes when striker Joseph Esso was sent through, but WAFA were equal to the task.

Ten minutes later, Esso had a goal turned down for an offside by the assistant referee.

The ‘Still Believe’ lads had shouts of a penalty turned down after Sulemana Fahadu was brought down by WAFA goalie Owusu Boliver.

WAFA came close with five minutes remaining in the first half but Dreams FC goalkeeper Simon Agbasi produced a brilliant save to deny the visitors.

The game remained barren after 45 minutes, but it was the hosts who returned from the break very determined to take the lead.

Just nine minutes into the second half, Sulemana Fahadu unleashed a belter to hand Dreams the lead.

Dreams should have been two up moments later but Agyenim Boateng was slow to a pass from goal scorer Fahadu.

After a relentless spell of pressure from the Dawu based outfit, Issah Ibrahim then doubled the lead with a simple tap in.

Coach Vladislav Viric then handed youngster Abdul Nasir Saeed his debut, coming on to replace Fahadu Sulemana.

And with the game almost over, Ibrahim added his second to make it 3-0 for Dreams.

The win extends Dreams FC unbeaten run to six games under the Serbian trainer, the longest unbeaten streak by a team in this season’s Ghana Premier League.

Ebusua Dwarfs recorded their only second home win in the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday when they beat AshantiGold SC 2-1 at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Dwarfs had gone three straight home matches with no win managing just a point from a possible nine.

The Miners have extended their winless run to four matches with the defeat to the Idekay Idepanday lads.

Dwarfs trainer Ernest Thompson Quartey ringed three changes in his starting lineup that faced held Aduana Stars to a 2-2 stalemate last weekend in Dormaa.

Seidu Abubakar replaced suspended Sumaila Moro in the starting lineup.

Albert Hammond and Godwin Adikah made away for the inclusions of Prince Kpodo and Obed Ackom Bentum in the starting places.

AshantiGold gaffer Milovan Cirkovic also made two changes to his squad that drew 0-0 with Asante Kotoko in the Ashanti Derby last Sunday.

Hans Kwofie and Mark Agyekum took the places of Amos Addai and Isaac Opoku Agyemang in the starting lineup respectively.

The visitors had the first threat of the encounter on the half hour mark but Yaw Annor failed to connect the glorious scoring opportunity.

The hosts broke the deadlock on the stroke of halftime as skipper Dennis Nkrumah Korsah connected a pass from George Asamoah to put them ahead.

The Miners got themselves back in the game after Kwofie beat the offside trap to put the ball behind the goalkeeper in the 75th minute.

The equaliser didn’t last beyond two minutes as midfielder Asamoah headed in a free-kick by Simon Martey on the edge of the box to give the Crabs the lead in the 77th minute.

Dwarfs will make a trip to the capital to take Inter Allies FC on match day 13 whilst AshantiGold entertain Liberty Professionals at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi next Sunday.
