Elmina Sharks will take on WAFA on match day 20 of the Ghana Premier League at Cape Coast stadium on Saturday. Sharks lost heavily to Liberty Professionals (4-0) – their first defeat in three games in the Nii Odartey Lamptey era.

Sharks have won 5 – drawn 6 and lost 8 times in the League with the 1-0 win against Ebusua Dwarfs on match day 18 being their recent victory. They sit in 13^th place with 23 points – 6 points above the relegation Zone and should be in a good place to fight for the three points against WAFA.

Coach Prosper Nartey will lead the Academy boys to a familiar terrain, having coached and lived in Cape Coast for close to three decades. His last visit to Cape Coast ended favourably with a 1-1 draw against Ebusua Dwarfs and hopes to build on that in against Sharks.

WAFA are in 10^th place with 26 points – three more than Elmina Sharks and 9 points above the relegation zone after 19 matches in the season. They have not been good travellers in the on-going campaign – winning only one (against Eleven Wonders), drawing two and losing 7 on the road.

Accra Great Olympics and Asante Kotoko played a goalless stalemate in the top of the table clash on Friday afternoon.

The two sides battled in a match-day 20 of the 2020 21 Ghana Premier League.

The top of the table cash lived up to the billing in the first half as it provided end to end active one but the same cannot be said of the second half as the tenacity of the game dropped.

The Porcupine Warriors made their intentions clear at the early stages of the game.

Patrick Asmah was fouled close to the Olympic’s box as he launched his head to a cross from Emmanuel Sarkodie but Imoro’s resulting kick went off target.

Kotoko came close again but Andy Kumi’s cross was restricted beyond the byline.

Afterwards, Great Olympics came into the picture controlling the midfield spearheaded by James Akaminko.

Olympics ha a foul midway into the Kotoko half, but Gladson Awako sent a whisker off the crossbar.

Kwame Joshua of Olympics initiated another attack, tearing off dangerously at the right-wing of Kotoko but couldn’t connect a shot into the box as his ef rt was blocked to safety.

The referee brought the first half to an end as a couple of half-chan s came from both sides with the goalkeepers not having much to deal with.

After recess, James Akaminko was presented with an opportunity to give Olympics e lead with the first chance of the half, but his shot, from the edge of the box, went wide.

Godfred Asiamah announced his presence after replacing Emmanuel Sarkodie as he skewed a cross towards Andy Kumi inside the box, but the ll was intercepted by an Olympics defender, who cleared their lines with a half volley.

Michael Otou nearly gave the home side the opener with his audacious strike which forced goalkeeper Razak Abalora to make a magnificent save on 78th minute. 

Five minutes later, Brazilian striker Michael Vinícius had a opportunity to register his second goal for the Porcupine Warriors but his header went wide. 

The two teams squandered the few chances and set-pieces awarded to them by the referee as the entire duration of the game ended in a scoreless stalemate.

Both sides could not create any decent chance again as the referee blew his whistle to bring proceedings to an end.
