Jonah Attuquaye’s late strike ensured Legon Cities secured a vital 2-1 win against  Liberty Professionals to move up from the relegation zone.

The Royals came from behind to beat Liberty Professionals in their matchday 24 battle played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Royals dominated possession in the opening minutes of the encounter in search of a goal but were unable to kiss the back of the net.

Liberty Professionals came close to score in the 15th minute but a good save from Honu denied the visitors.

Victorian Adebayor came up with a good chance to put Legon Cities after a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper but missed the opportunity in the 26th minute.

The first half ended with the two sides sharing the spoils.

Kweku Karikari scored the first goal of the game in the 80th minute to give Liberty Professionals the lead.

The lead was cut shoa rt a few minutes later as Baba Mahama got the equalizer for Legon Cities.

The game was heading to a stalemate after five minutes of additional time.

Eleven Wonders and Inter Allies played out a 1-1 draw in this matchday 23 fixture at the Nana Ameyaw Park in Techiman.

Inter Allies were hoping to secure another win after beating Elmina Sharks 2-0 at home over the weekend.

Inter Allies scored the opening goal of the game in the 14th-minute kind courtesy of Mohammed Zakari who scored through a free-kick.

Rashid Seidu denied Eleven Wonders from getting the equalizer in the 17th minute with a brilliant save.

The Eleven is to one side went into the break leading the tie by a goal.

After recess, the Eleven Wonders got the equalizer in the 48th minute through Clement Boahene at the Nana Ameyaw Park.

Inter Allies goalkeeper Rashid Seidu was booked for a foul by the referee in the 65th minute.

Both sides came close to scoring but missed the opportunity to put the ball at the back of the net.

Inter Allies needed to win to increase their points as they fight to escape relegation.

Allies after this result have accrued 19 points and place bottom on the table.

Eleven Wonders have dropped to the 14th position with 26 points after the draw.

Elmina Sharks fought hard to secure a second half equaliser to draw with Karela United on match-day 24 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League at the Nduom Park on Wednesday afternoon.

Karela United stunned the home side as they took an early lead through Reginald Antwi.

But a second fightback saw the Elmina based club pulled parity through forward, Benjamin Boateng.

Elmina Sharks came into the game as wounded lions after a disappointing loss at bottom side Inter Allies.

Coach Nii Odartey Lamptey’s charges commenced the duel strongly but failed to find the back of the net.

The visitors opened the scoring after Reginald Antwi rose high to meet a cross in the 30th minute.

Sharks seized control immediately, dominating possession, however could not score as they lacked precision upfront.

Karela United kept their composure hoping to secure a rare away win after recess.

A determined Sharks kept on pressing and with 22 minutes left, Benjamin Boateng leveled for the home team with a sublime finish.

Both sidelevelledned cautious, preventing a mistake as the clock ticked down.

Berekum Chelsea on Wednesday afternoon thrashed visiting AshantiGold SC 3-1 at the Golden City Park in a 2020/21 Ghana Premier League match-day 24 battle.

Goals from Stephen Amankonah, Abdul Basit and Paul Attah Agyei ensured that the Bibiries secured all three points, with Yaw Annor snatching the consolidation for the visitors.

After a balanced game in the first quarter of the game, the home side took control and dominated proceedings.

Abdul Basit finally broke the deadlock in the 35th minute. Berekum Chelsea held on to end the first half 1-0.

After recess, Chelsea doubled their lead on the 58th minute, courtesy of substitute Paul Attah Adjei.

On the 66th minute, midfielder Yaw Annor reduced the deficit for the Miners.

Just when the Miners were hoping to fight back into the game, Stephen Amankonah converted a spot-kick to hand the home side a 3-0 win.

The Miners made efforts to come back in the game but all proved futile.

Berekum Chelsea sit 11th on the league table with 30 points after the victory against AshantiGold

They will make a trip to the capital to take on Inter Allies on matchday 25.

Dreams FC with the early incursion here in Dawu after Ali Huzaif nicely flicked a pass to Emmanuel Ocran who drived from a distance but his attempt flew over the opposition goal. Way way off target.

The host looked like they had taken the lead after Ali Huzaif headed home from Philemon Baffour’s cross from the right but assistant referee waved his flag up for offside.

King Faisal on the other hand, looked really dull in the opening minutes as they are yet to find their pieces to settle really well in the game.

The ‘Insha Allah’ lads with the last chance of the first department as Wadudu Yakubu had a huge space ahead of him to go for goal but his long range strike was miles out from reaching the post. It finished goalless in the first half.

Back from the break, the ‘Still Believe’ lads with another explosive start here as Agyenim Boateng wins them a free kick just on the edge of the box. It ended as a wasted effort resulting into a restart.

Just what they have been fighting for throughout, Dreams FC finally ended the barren nature of the game after defender Asafo Abednago tapped in from a close range to hand his side the lead in the game.

Both teams from then, made series of substitutions with the coaches varying their tactics to influence the game in their favour.

Substitute Sadat Mustapha doubled his side’s lead after finishing off decently with a nice tap in having received a brilliant mirror pass from Simba Sylvestre. 

Just few minutes after, the ‘Still Believe’ lads appear like running riots over their opponents as playmaker Emmanuel Ocran also found his name on the scoresheet registering Dreams third of the day.

Referee Phillip Attah Forson finally blew his whistle to bring proceedings to an end at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu. The host with a huge win here!

Medeama SC missed out on the opportunity to move to the summit of the Ghana premier league table following a 1-2 defeat to WAFA SC at the Akoon Park on Wednesday afternoon.

Prince Opoku Agyemang gave Medeama the lead as early as the second minute, capitalizing on poor defending from the Academy Boys before kissing the back of the net.

The Tarkwa-based side maintained total dominance of the midfield and created more and more scoring chances but lacked precision in front of goal.

A few minutes after recess, WAFA drew level taking full advantage of Medeama’s poor loose ball in the middle of the park.

Issah Basit picked out Enock Asubinteng and he took a touch before drilling his shot across goal to pick out the far bottom corner to make it 1-1 in the 53rd-minute before a goal in the final minutes sealed the 2-1 win for the Academy boys.

The defeat now leaves Medeama third on the log with 40 points, one behind leaders Asante Kotoko who have a game in hand.

Bechem United FC suffered a narrow defeat to Accra Hearts of Oak SC at home on Wednesday afternoon in the Ghana Premier League week 24 clash.

The Hunters started the game on a blistering pace and created few openings but failed to make good use of their early dominance.

Hearts grew in confidence and started matching the home team on all front and begun to also impose themselves on the home team with some good combination of football in the middle third of the field.

The first half ended goalless.

The three coaches led their respective sides to secure impressive results in the month of April 2021.

The winner of the 2020/21 GPL NASCO Player of the Month for December award will be announced on Friday, May 14, 2021.

Winner will receive a NASCO Television set and a personalized trophy.
