The Intercontinental Club Masters gaffer has called for the introduction of Goal-line technology in the Ghana Premier League following his side’s goal was disallowed in the fixture against the Dade boys in the Gamantse derby in the Ghana Premier League.

Hearts of Oak trainer Samuel Boadu has called for the introduction of Goal-line technology after Isaac Mensah’s goal was denied in Hearts’s 1-1 draw game with Great Olympics in the week 28 of the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign.

Hearts’s midfielder Isaac Mensah fired a thunderbolt half way into Olympics half which hit underneath Olympics’s crossbar, and subsequently landed behind the goal line however, center referee was helpless as he didn’t know whether or not the total circumference of ball crosses the line whilst his assistant referee on the day didn’t help him relative to the incidence.

This, Boadu claimed the decision could have been different, if there was a Goal-line technology in the league.

“It’s a good game, Olympics did well. We got a lot of chances but we couldn’t score but the linesman disallowed Isaac Mensah’s goal and I think it was crossed the line so is a clear goal but I don’t want to talk about officiating, Boadu posited.

 If that goal was awarded the situation could have been different. I think the introduction of the goal-line technology can help”, he concluded.

Hearts currently tops the league table with 50 points, same as their arch rivals Asante Kotoko, but Hearts are advantageous with goals than the Porcupine Warriors.

Asante Kotoko head coach, Mariano Baretto has praised his side’s attitude in their slim win against AshantiGold on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors secured a 1-0 win over the Miners in a match-day 28 fixture at the Len Clay Stadium.

Midfielder, Fabio Gama’s well connected 22nd minute header, was enough to send Kotoko level on 50 points as Hearts of Oak after week 28 fixture.

Baretto said after game, ” The result was the best for us, it was a very tough match.

“We came to this match with many problems.

“We lost around nine players with injuries, with players who’s contract have ended and others who are down with malaria.

“Even Mudasiru played with malaria today Evans also.

“So we found some problems to make the best eleven.

“But the players who came, they did it well and we know AshantiGold in the second half will try to equalize,” the Portuguese trainer said.

“My players played with their hearts and their head.

“They needed to suffer and they suffered.

“When they need to run, they run.

“So we got the three points, what we are looking for because we are in a run, this is a marathon.

“It’s left with six matches now, any mistake can be a deadly mistake.” Baretto added.

Asante Kotoko will travel to the Dawu Park on Sunday, June 13 for their match day 29 fixture against bottom side, Inter Allies.

Asante Kotoko picked all points against AshantiGold in Obuasi to move on the same points -50- with leaders Hearts Of Oak.

Fabio Gama scored the only goal in the 23rd minute of the titanic duel.

Accra Hearts of Oak held Great Olympics to a 1 all game in the Gamantse derby in the week 28 in the ongoing Ghana premier league campaign.

With much hype and more anticipation of fireworks, game got incepted with each team looking promising to win.

As early on the 10th minute, Obeng Junior connected Salifu Ibrahim cross into the 18 yard box however, Goalkeeper Ben Asare was at the right position to save the ball from kissing the net.

The Landlords took the ball on their foes a minute after Obeng Junior’s header and won a free kick subsequently however, Goalkeeper Richard Arthur saved Gladson Awako’s free kick with ease.

Hearts had the advantage to score after Skipper Fatawu Mohammed ran passed his foe on the flanks and gave a pass to Obeng Junior unfortunately, Obeng Junior lost possession on the 13th minute.

On the 22nd minute, Hearts tried penetrating into Olympic’s defense, but Olympics blocked the ball. This saw running Emmanuel Nettey to go for the ball, and fired a thunderbolt which hit the bar and the total circumference of the ball crossed the line of the post unfortunately, center referee didn’t award such goal.

On the 35th minute, Obeng Junior connected Salifu’s cross with a header but Goalkeeper Asare did a good one to save the ball from kissing the net.

The two teams maintained composure and discipline as the ball went to the break.

On the 45th minute, the Dade boys who started well in the second half won a free kick. Skipper Gladson Awako effected the kick and the ball got deflected to corner. Resultant corner looked dangerous as Emmanuel Nettey who tried defending the ball headed to miss his own goalpost. The second corner which was effected went wasteful.

A little push from Hearts saw them to win a corner kick. Salifu effected the corner, Goalkeeper Asare rushed to punch the ball away from the goalpost and running Nettey rebounded the ball straight into the goalpost to put Hearts forward.

On the 64th minute, Hearts who were more poised than their foes penetrated into Olympics defense  through Salifu, who passed the ball to Obeng Jr, Obeng then gave a pass to Daniel Barnieh, who strike a carpet one however Substitute Goalkeeper Stephen Quaicoe stretched to save the ball with running Ovouka who came to tap in placed the ball side net.

Raddy Ovouka who was at the advantageous position got dispossessed by his marker. The marker subsequently crossed the ball into the 18 yard box and Maxwell Abbey who was at the right position headed home for the landlords on the 71st minute.

Hearts tried to take the lead on the 74th minute as Barnieh connected connected Salifu’s corner kick however, Goalkeeper Quaicoe came to the rescue of Olympics.

On the 83rd minute, Barnieh who was running with the ball was fouled by James Akaminko. Salifu effected the free kick which went straight to hit the woodwork. Mohammed Alhassan rebounded, but ball went to the goal kick.

As the ball was getting to an end, a long searching pass into Hearts center half way saw Abdul Manaf Mudasiru ran passed his opponents and subsequently took on Goalkeeper Richard Arthur unfortunately, his final kick was wasteful on the 91st minute.

As the game clock ticked the 100th minute, Hearts won a corner kick which was effected, but Benjamin Afutu’s header went to the side net.

As the two teams maintained momentum, composure and discipline, the entire proceedings ended at the Accra stadium with a 1-1 scoreline.

The results see Hearts topping the league with 50 points. Though Hearts have the same number of points as Asante Kotoko, Hearts will be on top as the Intercontinental club masters have more goals than the Porcupine Warriors.
