Black Stars coach CK Akunnor names Lineup, Effects Five Changes Ahead Of Ivory Coast Clash
The Black Stars Gaffe has named his line up, effecting five changes in the Black Stars friendly encounter against the Elephants of La Côte d’Ivoire.
Ghana’s Head coach CK Akunnor is effecting five changes in the Ghana’s friendly game against Ivory Coast this evening in the international friendly.
In view of this, 5 players who started in the previous friendly against Morocco will be warming the bench for their colleague teammates to start this evening.
To begin with, FC St. Gallen shot stopper Lawrence Ati Zigi will be replacing Razak Abalora, who has been keeping the post for the Black Stars in their last few games including Ghana’s 1-0 lose to Morocco few days ago.
Baba Abdul Rahman also comes in for Gideon Mensah, who started in the Ghana’s game against Morocco. Baba will parter Andy Yiadom on the flanks.
Strasbourg defender Alexander Djiku starts ahead of Nicolas Opoku and will partner Daniel Amartey to complete the central defense.
Also, Arsenal Star Thomas Partey comes in for Emmanuel Lomotey. Partey partners Baba Iddrisu this evening, with Ajax midfielder Kudus Mohammed playing the playmaker role for the Black Stars.
Skipper André Ayew and his brother Jordan Ayew will be leading the upfront for the Black Stars this evening.
CK Akunnor believes the changes is necessary as he [Akunnor] prepares a formidable side towards the forthcoming World Cup qualifies.

Ghanaian lower-tier club involved in nasty ‘Aboboyaa’ accident
Ghanaian juvenile side, Manso Soccer Babies were involved in a deadly motor accident on Saturday afternoon after the rickshaw ‘aboboyaa’ they were travelling in for a league match collided with a vehicle, leaving several players seriously injured.
The rickshaw, which is also known locally as ‘Adeideita’, collided with an oncoming vehicle as the team was trekking from Kumasi to play a league match at Atwima Bebu.
Players and officials of the team, packed in the rickshaw have been rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for immediate medical attention following the various degrees of injuries sustained with some serious after the accident occured at Bebu.
Relatives of the young players and worried football fans are trooping to the hospital to ascertain the injuries suffefred by the young players who are aspiring to be world-class players.
This is the latest of the such accidents involivng young Ghanaian footballers being transported in rickety vehicles for league matches in the Ashanti Region.
It would be recalled that, at least six teenage footballers were killed and 30 others injured in a road accident in Ghana’s southern Ashanti region in September last year.
Edmund Nyamekye, commander of the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department, told the media that four of the injured had been rushed to hospital and were in critical condition.
The accident occurred when the footballers aged 12-15 were on their way back from Afrancho, a community in the Ashanti region, the commander said.
Oti Region: Alijo Stars wins Ahamansu electoral area goat cup
After two days of exciting football gala in the Ahamansu Electoral Area of the Akan Constituency in the Oti Region, Alijo stars have been crowned champions in a six team gala at the Ahamansu Sports Complex.
Alijo stars won by 8 goals to 7 on penalties having played goalless at the finals with Ahamansu Funtu Eleven.
Other participating teams were Ahamansu Network FC, Ahamansu Junction Stars, Ahamansu Paris Stars and Ahamansu Secondary.
The winner ( Alijo stars) went home with the goat, a trophy, a ball and a One Hundred and Fifty Cedis (150).
First runners up, Funtu Eleven went home with a football and One Hundred and Fifty Cedis ( 150).
All other teams had One Hundre and Fifty Cedis, (150) as participating rewards.
Assembly Member and organiser of the gala, Hon. Mohammed Haris used the occasion to encourage the youth to embrace communal spirit towards the development of the society.

U-turn: Hearts vs Medeama game back on as Minister of Youth & Sports calls NSA to rescind Accra Sports Stadium decision
The National Sports Authority has made a swift U-turn and rescinded their decision to shut down the Accra Sports Stadium for maintenance and renovation works in the middle of the Ghana Premier League season.
The action caused the matchday 29 clash between Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC to be called off temporarily.
But, according to reliable sources the sector minister Hon. Mustapha Ussif telephoned the hierarchy of the National Sports Authority to rescind their earlier decision and allow the game to come on.
This means the game between table-toppers Hearts of Oak and fourth-placed Medeama SC will come on as scheduled.
Kick off time remains 18:00 GMT.

Razak Abalora dropped as Akonnor names Ati Zigi in Ghana starting line-up against Ivory Coast
Black Stars head coach Charles Akonnor has handed a starting role to St. Gallen Goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi for today’s International friendly against Ivory Coast.
This will be his first start for the Black Stars since they lost to Mali last year in a similar international friendly game.
Ati Zigi, thus takes the position of Asante Kotoko No.1 Razak Abalora who was in posts in the Black Stars 1-0 defeat to Morooco on Tuesday.

Hearts Of Oak vs Medeama SC Ghana Premier League game postponed
The Ghana Premier League matchday 29 clash between Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC at the Accra Sports Stadium has been cancelled
According to GHANASoccernet.com the match has been called-off during to renovation works ongoing at the Accra Sports stadium.
The stadium is undergoing some minor repairs which started on June 10 and will be finished on June 14, 2021.
The Accra Sports Stadium has been under pressure this season serving as home to five clubs.
A new date for the game between Hearts and Medeama will be revealed in the coming days.
Meanwhile all games in Accra have been postponed due to the repair works.

Rashid Nortey named in Medeama SC’s 21-man squad list for Hearts Of Oak clash
MEDEAMA Head coach, Yaw Preko has named a strong 21-man squad list for his side’s titanic clash against Hearts Of Oak on Sunday in a matchday 29 fixture of the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The contingent includes goalkeepers Frank Boateng and Owusu Dacosta.
Rashid Nortey who is in Black Stars camp for their friendly game against Ivory Coast on Saturday has been named in the squad to face the league leaders.

South Korea 3-1 Ghana: Black Meteors suffer third straight defeat
The Black Meteors of Ghana slumped to a third straight defeat in their tour of Asia after going down 3-1 to 10-man South Korea at Jeju World Cup Stadium Saturday morning.
The Asians scored first in the 18th minute through captain Lee Sangmin who rose quickest to head in an inswinger.
In the 38th minute, South Korea’s Kim Jinya got sent off for a poor tackle on Ghana right-back Samuel Nii Ashie Quaye.
1-0 the first half ended.
Defender Lee Seung-mo came off the bench and soon made it 2-0 in the 59th minute, scoring from a rebound after his initial strike off a free-kick went into the post.
South Korea grabbed the third goal in the 66th minute when centre-back Frank Amoabeng allowed striker Cho Guesung – with his back facing the goal – the space to turn and fire past goalkeeper William Essu.
Ghana got a consolation goal in the 76th minute through striker Samuel Obeng who came on in the second half.
The match eventually ended 3-1 – making it a third consecutive loss for coach Paa Kwesi Fabin’s men who were beaten 6-0 and 4-0 by Japan.
The Black Meteors will play South Korea again in their final match at the same venue on Tuesday, June 15. Kickoff is at 11:00 GMT.
