Ghana defender John Boye has completed a shocking move from French Ligue 1 side Metz to Saudi Arabian giants Al Fahya FC, the two clubs have confirmed.
The 34-year-old had a wonderful campaign with Metz last season as the club finished tenth on the log out of twenty teams that participated.
Although, Ligue 1 has attracted a lot of attentions and good ratings over the past few weeks following the arrival of former Barcelona captain Lionel Messi and Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos, Boye has opted to leave behind all the hype.
The former Stade Rennes defender signed a one-year deal with Al Fayha with an option to extend the deal after the season and reports suggest he will make at least twice the money he was receiving in France.
He has now joined Andre Ayew, Afriyie Acquah and Samuel Owusu as the top Ghanaian players in the Gulf region.
“The Board of Directors of Al-Fayhaa Club, headed by Mr. Abdullah bin Ahmed Abanmi, completed the procedures for the transfer of the former international player, Ghanaian defense heart John Boye, with a professional contract for one season,” a club official statement read.
“Ghanaian John Boye represented many clubs during his professional career, most notably the French club Rennes, the Turkish club Sivasspor and the Ghanaian Heart of Lions club, and his last stop was with the French Metz Club,” the statement added.
Boye, who was not called for Ghana’s double header against Ethiopia and South Africa in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers, boasts of 68 international caps and six goals.
Ghana Premier League side, WAFA SC have confirmed the sale of midfielder Augustine Boakye to Wolfsberger AC.
Boakye, 20, completed a four-year move to the Austrian Bundesliga outfit early this week after arriving in the country on Tuesday .
The Kumasi-born midfield gem contributed 17 goals in 29 games for the Sogakope club scoring 9 and assisting 8 as WAFA finish third on the league log last season.
Wolfsberger AC, commonly referred to as Wolfsberg or simply WAC, is an Austrian association football club from Wolfsberg, Carinthia, who currently play in the Austrian Bundesliga.
The club is currently 6th in a 6-week old Bundesliga.
Cristiano Ronaldo says he is “back where I belong” at Manchester United and has dedicated his return to the club to former boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
United have paid an initial 15m euros (£12.85m) to sign the 36-year-old from Juventus, a decade after he left the club to join Real Madrid.
He has signed a two-year contract, with the option to extend for another year.

Ferguson was United manager during Ronaldo’s first spell at Old Trafford, when he scored 118 goals in 292 appearances before leaving for Real Madrid in 2009.
He is believed to have spoken to Ferguson prior to his return to United, which could also cost the club a possible 8m euros (£6.85m) in add-ons.
Current Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “You run out of words to describe Cristiano. He is not only a marvellous player, but also a great human being.
“To have the desire and the ability to play at the top level for such a long period requires a very special person.
“I have no doubt that he will continue to impress us all and his experience will be so vital for the younger players in the squad.
“Ronaldo’s return demonstrates the unique appeal of this club and I am absolutely delighted he is coming home to where it all started.”
Ronaldo had been linked with Manchester City but opted to return to United, where he spent six years and won three Premier League titles, one Champions League, two League Cups and one FA Cup – as well as the Fifa Club World Cup and Community Shield.
Ronaldo could be available to Solskjaer for the home game against Newcastle United on 11 September, which is the club’s first match following the international break.
Ronaldo wore the number seven shirt in his first stint at United but that is currently held by Edinson Cavani and, even if the Uruguay striker was willing to hand over the shirt number, Premier League rules prevent a mid-season swap except in the most extreme circumstances.

How did this move come about?
On 17 August, Ronaldo, who had been linked with Real Madrid, Paris St-Germain and Manchester City during the summer, criticised media reports linking him with a move from Juventus.
Real boss Carlo Ancelotti said he had “never considered signing” the forward, while Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri said the player had “never expressed a desire to leave” and was “staying” with the Serie A side.
Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes spoke to several major European clubs about potentially signing him, including Manchester City and Paris St-Germain.
On Friday, Allegri revealed Ronaldo had told Juventus that he “no longer has any intention” to play for the club, while United boss Solskjaer said his former Old Trafford team-mate “knows that we’re here”.
City boss Pep Guardiola stated players like Ronaldo “decide where they are going to play” before the Premier League champions, having considering the matter carefully, decided not to pursue a deal for him.
In a dramatic transfer saga, United later announced they had reached an agreement to sign Ronaldo subject to personal terms, a visa and a medical.
In a statement confirming his exit, Juventus described how “two icons of the European and football world came together” in 2018, but that after 101 goals in 133 games and five trophies, the “chapter has come to an end”.
“The Juventus fans welcomed CR7 like a king, eager to see him on the pitch and cheer with him,” the club added. “It was a great story.”
The Italian club said they would receive the money for Ronaldo over five years – until he is 41.

The striker will play in the Spanish second division
Ghanaian striker Mohammed Dauda has been loaned to FC Cartagena in the Spanish La Liga 2 until the end of the season.
Dauda arrived at Neerpede in January 2017 directly from his parent club Asante Kotoko SC.
The club’s official statement reads “FC Cartagena SAD informs of the agreement reached today with RSC Anderlecht for the loan of footballer Mohammed Dauda (Ghana, 02/20/21) until the end of the 2021/22 season.”
Dauda is a Ghanaian footballer who stands out for his speed, verticality and accuracy in front of goal. He is a winger who plays on the left wing (despite being right-handed) and who can also do the job at the top.
The 23-year-old is expected to arrive in Spain to continue his footbed career as this season, he will be playing in La Liga 2.

Medeama have to announced that youngster Nana Kofi Babil has signed a two-year contract extension at the club.
However, the 19-year-old will feature for Slovenian side Slovenian PrvaLiga outfit NK Aluminij on a two-year loan deal.
The club has reached an agreement with the club for the transfer of the player to the European outfit.
Babil will stay with NK Aluminij on loan for the next two seasons as he continues to navigate his way through the European career.
The highly-rated youngster extended his stint with Medeama for two more years before making the move to Slovenia.
“First impressions are really great when I came to Kidričevo, I did not know Slovenia. All my teammates and coaches received me really well. I am really happy to have come to such an environment as the Aluminij Football Club,” Babil told the club’s official website.
“For now, the results are not the best, but the team is good and I am sure that the results will turn in a positive direction. For myself, I want to draw attention to myself with good performances, to help the team on the way up.”
Babil was impressive in the Ghanaian top-flight in the 2019/2020 campaign where he scored 4 goals in 12 matches.
A 32-man Black Stars squad arrived in Cape Coast Tuesday afternoon for the 2022 Fifa World Cup opening qualifier against Ethiopia.
The team held light training in Accra on Monday but will move their preparation into full gear later in the day at Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
Coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor has had to make a few more additions to the squad following the inability of Tariqe Fosu-Henry, Benson Anang, Kelvin Yeboah, Thomas Teye Partey and Mohammed Kudus to turn up.
After initially naming a 30-man provisional squad, Akonnor, last weekend, added four more players – Daniel-Kofi Kyereh, Braydon Manu, Joseph Aidoo and Yaw Yeboah.
The Black Stars gaffer on Tuesday added three more players – Jeffrey Schlupp as well as local duo Fatawu Mohammed and Samuel Ashie-Quaye,
In all, thirty-two (32) players have reported to camp and will train at the match venue at 17:00 GMT today.
Ghana are scheduled to host Group G opponents Ethiopia on Friday, September 3 before playing South Africa on Monday, September 6 in Johannesburg.

Hearts of Oak captain Fatwu Mohammed and Great Olympics defender Samuel Ashie-Quaye have been handed late invite to the Black Stars team for the World Cup qualifiers.
The pair were given call ups by Ghana coach C.K Akonnor as some players fail to report due to travel restrictions.
Meanwhile, winger Tariqe Fosu has been excused from the team for the matches against Ethiopia and South Africa.
“Samuel Ashie Quaye (Great Olympics), Fatau Mohammed (Hearts of Oak) called up by Coach Charles Akonnor. Brentford City winger Tarique Fosu is excused from the upcoming assignments to sort out his future with the club,” wrote the Football Association on their official Twitter handle.
Both players have been impressive for their clubs in the Ghana Premier League, with Fatawu Mohammed helping Hearts win the league and FA Cup double.
Samuel Ashie-Quaye was part of the Black Satellites team that won the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
Ghana are one of the countries on the continent that have been affected by the English FA’s decision to restrict players from travelling to the danger zone.
This means the Ghanaian contingent in the English Premier League will not travel to South Africa.
Asante Kotoko SC has been named among top 30 African club has been named among the 30 clubs on the African continent to have recorded the most outgoing transfers in the last decade.
Having seen 22 of their players moved outside Ghana in the last 10 years, Kotoko has been ranked 28th in the top 30 squad released by FIFA.
The list was made based on FIFA’s 10-year transfer report and shows a number of promising clubs to have moved their players outside their domestic zone.
Some other Ghanaian clubs including Inter Allies, who are ranked first on the continent, Dreams FC, Right to Dream, Liberty Professionals, Dreams FC, Berekum Chelsea, Medeama SC, and Charity Stars all made the 30 clubs to have recorded the highest number of outgoing transfers.

The players who reported include captain of the side, Andre Ayew who led the team which also had Mubarak Wakaso, Richard Attah, Jordan Ayew, Samuel Owusu, Baba Rahman and Jonathan Mensah present.
The others were youngster Abdul Fatawu Ishaaku, Daniel Barnieh, Emmanuel Gyasi, Ismail Ganiyu, and Richard Ofori.
The first training session was held at the Mac Dan Park in La, Accra saw head coach CK Akonnor supervising their activities.
The number of players in camp is expected to go up on Tuesday as some players were expected to fly in on Monday night.
Ghana will take Ethiopia in Ghana before they travel to play with South Africa in Johannesburg.
