Former Great Olympics striker paa Joe Kumah has shockingly claimed that Ghanaian striker Junior Manuel Agogo was sacked by Apollon Limassol because he was fully in drugs.
Paa Joe Kumah revealed this serious allegation in a recent interview two years after the striker passed on. Junior Agogo died in 2019 at a London hospital at the age of 40.
In 2011, Agogo was sacked by the Cyprus club, but reports at the time claimed that the team took that decision due to his abysmal performance and serious knee injury.
Meanwhile, Kumah, a former Black Star striker has disputed those reasons.
Kumah told SVTV “I was in the same city with Junior Agogo. A management member must have seen him using drugs always,the drugs were too much .I was there, so they had pay the rest of the money since his contract had not expired,that’s why Agogo left Apollon .
Junior Agogo joined Apollon in 2009 after an exit from Egyptian side Zamalek because of unpaid wages.
He was handed a a bumper deal by the Cyprus side.
Junior Agogo, who played for Ghana during the 2008 African cup of nations hosted by Ghana, suffered a stroke and recovered before dying.
He scored 12 goals in 27 games for the senior national team Black Stars of Ghana between 2006 and 2009.
The Ghana Football Association is delighted to announce that it has made full payment of merit awards to winners of the various competitions in the 2020/21 football season.
These merit awards include Prize money for Winner of the Ghana Premier League and the 1st and 2nd Runner up, Winner of the MTN FA Cup, the Women’s Premier League, and Women’s FA Cup.
Others include Prize money for Winners of each of the Three Zones in the Division One League and the three clubs that finished second in Zone One, Two and Three.

Ajax Amsterdam offensive midfielder Kudus Mohammed rattled the net with a sensational finish before Yaw Yeboah, Benjamin Tetteh and Joel Fameyeh all registered their names on the score-sheet.
Head coach Milovan Rajevac handed starting berths to Swindon Town’s Jojo Wollacott while Dreams FC’s Philimon Baffour also earned a start with Reading defender Andy Yiadom absent due to injury.
Joseph Aidoo partnered Daniel Amartey in central defence in the first-half while Baba Rahman also earned a start.

Board Chairman of Asante Kotoko SC, Dr Kwame Kyei has reportedly acquired a 100 percent stake of a division side in the Ashanti Region.
The business mogul is now a club owner as he has purchased Bekwai Youth Football Academy (BYFA) after serving Kotoko for a long while to gain experience in football administration.
Asantehene, Otomfour Osei Tutu II appointed the Unity Group of Companies owner four years ago to head Kotoko as the Chief Executive Officer for a period of three years.
After exhausting his term, his Royal Majesty appointed a new board to run the faires of the club with Kwame Kyei as the Executive Board Chairman, a position he has held since last year.
Following growing interest in football over the years, the renowned entrepreneur has bought all stakes of BYFA to run the club as sole owner, according to a report filed by Pure FM.
According to the Kumasi-based radio station, Kwame Kyei paid an amount of GHC 200,000 for the shares and has thus set up board members of the club immediately, which include his sons, Divine and Nana Boadu.
BYFA are in Zone two of the National Division One. The club secured promotion into the country’s second-tier league in 2017 and are yet to qualify for the Ghanaian top-flight since.

Asante Kotoko defender Ismail Abdul Ganiu has signed a contract extension that will see him remain at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium through to 2025, the club has officially confirmed on Wednesday.
Ganiu initially joined Kotoko from Karela United in the summer of 2018, and quickly nailed down the number one spot in defence in then coach Kjetil Zachariason’s starting XI while establishing himself as one of the most consistent players in the Premier League.
Ganiu has played a key role in the club’s recent period and has now been rewarded for his contribution with a new long-term deal.
“Centre-back Ismail Abdul Ganiyu has signed a new two-year contract with us, keeping him at the club until 2023,” Kotoko posted on Twitter!l.
Ganiu will be named as Asante Kotoko new captain since former captain Felix Annan and assistant captain Emmanuel Gyamfi have both left the club this transfer period.
Ganiu is currently with the Kotoko squad in Accra for the pre-season tour. He is expected to lead the players when they travel to United Arab Emirates to continue their pre-season tour next week.
KGL foundation has agreed to sponsor Juvenile football in Ghana with an amount of One Million USD for the next 5 years.
This was announced on Wednesday morning after the Ghana Football Association and KGL unveiled a groundbreaking sponsorship deal at a media event.
Expressing his delight at the sponsorship agreement, GFA President Kurt ES Okraku intimated that KGL has shown enormous support for football in the country, from their support for the Black Stars and now to Juvenile football.
“Am super-excited that today we are announcing an amazing relationship between the GFA and KGL. KGL foundation gives hope to the hopeless and improves the capacity of young people.
“Today’s announcement offers amazing opportunities to our younger brothers who aspire to be big footballers in our country.
The President of the GFA revealed that the 5-year sponsorship agreement will see KGL injecting about USD 150,000 yearly into Juvenile football.
He added that Juvenile Clubs from across the country are also expected to receive 100 sets of jerseys and 100 sets for bibs yearly for the next 5 years.
The GFA President also reiterated the investment the Association has made over the years towards reviving juvenile football across the country.
“Colts football had not been played in Ghana for years but thankfully we brought it back and across all the 10 regions juvenile is being played.
“The GFA invested about 100, 000 dollars into the development of football at the regional level in the purchase of football which are being used by juvenile clubs.”
“We also introduced the catch them young referees which is aimed at encouraging young persons with enormous passion for refereeing. So this year all our juvenile matches are officiated by kids.”
“Beyond that we have reduced the burden on our colts clubs by scrapping the payment of referee fees”.
The GFA President also stated that the Association has introduced a policy for all Premier League clubs to own U17 sides as a big step for juvenile clubs.
GPL and Dol sides are to register 10 youth players in their 40-man squads for the season .
He stressed that these are major interventions that the FA has rolled out to improve Juvenile football in the country.
The CEO of KGL Foundation Mr. Alex Dadey also stated that this is in furtherance with their recent financial support to the Black Stars.
“We are happy to partner the GFA again after sponsoring the Black Stars. After that we spoke about helping to project the image of Ghana football”.
“This is inline with our corporate social responsibility as a company”, he added.

Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco will arrive in Ghana for the Caf Champions League second round first leg clash against Hearts of Oak without highly-rated youngster Salaheddine Benyachou, the club has officially confirmed.
The 21-year-old, who joined WAC from Olympique Club de Safi in a deal worth around US$350,000, went under the knife this week following an appendix operation and he is expected to sit out of action for at least three weeks before he can completely be healed.
As a result, WAC will travel to Ghana after the international break without him as Hearts of Oak are billed to host them on October 22 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
This is a huge advantage to Hearts since Salaheddine is a very good player who has consistently tormented the defence of opponents. Hearts coach Samuel Boadu will now have to switch his attention to other players and deploy tactics that will prevent them from having a field day.
Salaheddine will also miss the return fixture slated to take place at the Mohamed V Stadium in Casablanca on October 29.
