Berekum Chelsea have moved to 7th on the Ghana Premier League table following a narrow 1-0 win against Karela United on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues today played host to the matchday 20 opponent eager to move higher up the standings of the division to avoid relegation battle later in the campaign.
In a game where Karela United dominated play for most parts of the first half, the team could not find a way to score.
After recess, Berekum Chelsea needed just four minutes to open the scoring. The hosts equalized through a strike from Emmanuel Sarpong in the 49th minute to take the lead.
Despite the efforts of the visitors in the remaining minutes of the encounter, Berekum Chelsea held on to secure a delightful 1-0 win at full-time.
The result has propelled the Blues to 7th on the Ghana Premier League table with Karela United now 9th on the league log.
Accra Lions on Saturday afternoon scored late to dish out a painful defeat to Dreams FC in the Ghana Premier League.
The capital-based club today hosted the team from Dawu at the Accra Sports Stadium in a matchday 20 encounter of the 2021/22 Ghanaian top-flight league campaign.
Despite the impressive efforts of both teams in the first 45 minutes of the encounter, neither side could score and had to settle for a draw at halftime.
In the second half, there was plenty of action as Dreams FC pushed in their quest to get on the scoresheet.
Having squandered a number of opportunities, the visitors were made to pay in the final minutes of the clash.
Youngster Fawzan Alhassan Dandawa equalized with a fantastic effort in added time to propel Accra Lions FC to secure a vital 1-0 win at the end of the 90 minutes.
The three points secured today give Accra Lions a major boost as the team pushes to avoid relegation at the end of the ongoing season.
Bechem United youngster, Clinton Duodu has made a bold statement claiming he will not fancy a move to the two glamorous clubs, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak in the future.
Duodu has been a sensation this season for the Hunters making 12 appearances as they lie 4th on the league table with 31 points after 19 games.
According to the youngster, his main ambition is to play outside Ghana after leaving Bechem United and will want to play with arguably one of the greatest players of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo.
“For now, I don’t want to play for any other team aside traveling outside the country. I don’t want to quit Bechem for any other clubs (be it Kotoko/Hearts),” Duodu told Akoma FM
“There’s no cash when one plays in the GPL, so if I leave Bechem for either Hearts of Kotoko, though they will pay me well, that won’t be enough to cater for my family because financially, we are not stable.
He added, “My dream team is Manchester United, my wish as a football is to play along with Cristiano Ronaldo before he retires from football.”
Aduana stars marksman, Bright Adjei has targeted the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) goal king gong and help Aduana stars to win the competition.
According to Adjei, Aduana Stars can catch up with league leaders, Asante Kotoko and possibly overtake them to clinch the GPL trophy.
Speaking to the Times Sports, Adjei said despite the importance of teamwork that will require every player to work tirelessly for the club, he has a personal agenda of surpassing the current top scorer, Frank Etouga Mbella of Asante Kotoko if he wants to emerge the goal king winner.
Adjei currently trails Etouga with just a goal difference as the latter leads the pack with 13 goals, followed by Adjei with 12.
Adjei said, he aims to achieve great success in 2021/22 league season by winning the Golden Boot award and also win the GPL title with Aduana Stars.
“My focus for the season is to win the goal king and also help Aduana overtake Asante Kotoko, admitting that “it is not an easy target to set because Kotoko is playing well.’
In his view, it will be too early to think that Kotoko are runaway leaders because there are 15 matches more to go with a total of 45 points to fight for.
“We have a long way to go. Forty-five points at stake is so much and I believe that with hard work, we can cause a big surprise. We can do it if we show some level of consistency.”
The Aduana Stars attacker indicated his readiness to play for the Black When the invitation comes to play for the country.
Former Chairman of the Ghana Football Association, Dr Nyaho Tamakloe has cautioned Ghanaians against forcing players on the technical handlers of the Senior National Football team.
There have been recent calls in public that veteran, Sulley Muntari should be recalled to the Black Stars ahead of the all-important World Cup 2022 qualifying double header with the Nigeria.
Muntari has returned from a 2 year break and is now making headlines with reigning Ghana Premier League Champions Accra Hearts of Oak. He recently netted his first goal for the club and has endeared himself to the Hearts of Oak fans.
Following the positive reviews about his impact with the Phobians, calls for him to get a national team call-up (which will be his first since 2014) have intensified.
However, Dr Nyaho Tamakloe believes, such a call should be left to the Technical team of the Black Stars.
He further expressed confidence that Muntari has the ability to deliver when called upon.
In an interview with Asempa FM, he said “Don’t push him to the Black Stars. If he feels like doing it, he will offer himself.
“And when he gets there, he’s a hardworking boy and he will deliver,” he added.

Mohammed Sherif, affectionately called Samba, is breaking barriers and covering territories. He does so on an exalted level in Ghana’s elite football division. Every game is now a testimony of his innate gifts to play ball. Rave reviews and praise singing have reached a cresendo and the earlier hype in Tamale, his birth place, meets overwhelming justification from all over. But, just who is Sherif?
Sherif grew up in the Tamale Metropolis, with a unique natural identity people easily related with. A precocious football talent laced with a storied likeability made him a popular kid. His neighbourhood lost its size for his early attention and thus, the town intervened only temporarily. The forest reserve nearby is home to a cluster of sandy fields, on which Sherif honed his talent. He was a cut above his peers and that was common knowledge.
With time, a new field, Assembly Man Park, would be carved out along his street, to host a juvenile league. This was masterminded by the Assembly Member of his area, hence the name of the field. Sherif was one of the youngest players but proved to be one of the most impressive. He was noted for his shot power, energy and heading ability – attributes rarely seen at that age. Imagine the youngest and smallest player in a team being tasked with taking goal-kicks. Such was the trust in him.
Every young talent needs a proper platform to receive coaching. None could provide a better one than Tamale Real Republicans, a legendary Colts club coached by the iconic Alhassan Dawuo. ‘Reps’, as it’s commonly known, is home to a seemingly endless list of fine products that have had careers of varying success. Sherif continued his development under coach Dawuo, raising eyebrows with his performance. He became one of the most talked about youngsters in town.
Even at that age, Samba’s uniqueness stemmed from his versatility. His ability to play in differest positions set him apart and made him a mainstay in the starting team. His burgeoning reputation caught the attention of Division One League side, Tamale Steadfast. He would join the “Gangdu Boys” after a training exercise and take his gifts to a higher level. In hindsight, Steadfast can hardly boast of a more loyal and dependable player. He served the club with distinction and the club served him to the elite.
He would play at centre-back, right-back, right-wingback, midfield and attack and impress. Plus, he would score valuable goals, mostly from headers, to win games for his side. By then, he was a household name in Tamale. His special blend of brilliant passing, accurate shooting, pace, tackling and heading endeared him to the fans. How a player is able to operate in different roles so well, and hardly have a bad day, is surely indicative of greatness.
Everyone knew that Sherif was meant for the top. It was just a matter of time. Kotoko came calling and had their man, at the expense of Premier League returnees RTU and then Brekum Chelsea. It goes without saying that the Kotoko-Sherif marriage was consumated in heaven. The boy is living his dream with the Porcupine Warriors. He finds home in the club and the club finds comfort in him, at least on the field of play.
In his debut Premiership season, Samba is turning heads with his displays on weekly basis. He has found a trustee in coach Prosper Ogum, who is building a fine team at the club. He has deployed his boy across the field and he has lived to the billing. His attributes aside, he has a popular winning mentality and puts all his energy in it. His fighting spirit is as enviable as his sheer confidence.
So now, the earlier hype was not empty after all. It was a barrage of positive remarks heaped on a boy who deserved it. He has become the toast of the fans and duely gets man-of-the-match nominations post games. He has got the media talking. He is attracting attention and hopefully the national teams are watching. Mr. Versatile, one of his new names, is rising. Make no mistake, the rise is equipped with ingredients to sustain it. The biggest ingredient is the power of God, followed by talent and a burning desire to make the most of it.
Hearts of Oak made the trip to Dormaa with a 22-man squad ahead of their Ghana Premier League Matchday 20 encounter against Aduana Stars FC at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Sunday afternoon.
The club has already confirmed that the former AC and Inter Milan midfielder, Sulley Muntari has picked up a knock during the side’s 2-1 win over West African Football Academy.
“The decision to exempt Sulley Ali Muntari from the game against Aduana Stars is based on medical advice after he picked up a knock in our previous game and not his personal decision as being speculated.” a club statement on Friday read.
Gladson Awako is back in the squad and Agyenim Boateng also returns after finally recovering from a long term injury.
There is still no place for the Club’s top scorer, Kofi Kordzi as he fails to make the squad for the second successive game.
Meanwhile, Ansah Botchway and Enock Asubonteng are still out due to illness.

Head coach of King Faisal, Nurudeen Amadu has blamed his players’ lack of tactical discipline and laziness for their loss against AshantiGold in the Ghana Premier League.

The Miners beat King Faisal 2-0 at the Len Clay Stadium on Friday in a match-day 20 fixture with a goal in either half through Kamaradini Mamudu and Isaac Opoku Agyemang, respectively.
Responding to the loss after the encounter, Nurudeen said his charges were not tactically good on the day as they kept committing mistakes they had corrected several times.
“I think that they [players] didn’t play to tactical instructions and they were just bad on the day.The things we have corrected, they committed them again today. That’s laziness.
“Sometimes these things do happen, and we have to be up and doing it. Other than that, we are going to lose many of our games. The players should throw away the complacency and laziness,” he said.
King Faisal sits 6th on the Premier League log with 29 points from 20 games. They have won two games in their last five games, losing three. They play Berekum Chelsea in their next game.
AshantiGold SC recorded a resounding victory over King Faisal Babes to end their four matches winless streak as they climbed up on the league standings.
