Ghana Premier League defending champions, Hearts of Oak are said to be in an advanced talks with Cameroonian side Fauve Azure for the services of striker Junior Kaaba, according to sportsglitz.com

Kaaba, 27, has hit the front pages in Cameroon’s first round of fixtures in the Elite One Championship which commenced in March.

The burly striker has so far netted 7 goals and provided five assists and is currently the second highest scorer in Cameroonian top division this season after 12 games.

Due to his blistering start to the season, Cameroonian coach Rigobert Song has rewarded him with a call up to the Local Indomitable Lions who will begin camping from May 23 to 27.

Hearts will face competition from Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman as the North African side have shown keen interest in the striker.

Executive Board Chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak, Togbe Afede XIV, has described the club’s decision to commission a Commercial Centre as a step to modernisation towards becoming one of the best clubs on the African continent.

The club’s highest shareholder explained at the commissioning of the edifice that Hearts were ready to explore partnerships with other clubs in order to learn about modern  football trends.

Speaking at the club’s Commercial Centre commissioning on Wednesday, Togbe Afede XIV said “It is very important to take certain decisions to modernise the club if we want to compete as one of the best clubs on the African continent.

“We celebrated 110 years of our existence last year and this year we have another big one coming up in November so it is very important to put in place measures to put the club back to where it belong.”

As part of the event, the Hearts owner was joined by former Board Member of the club Gbese Mantse, Nii Ayi-Bonte, to cut sod for the construction of an ultra modern office complex.

The new complex is expected to be ready in the coming months.

Ghana Premier League club, Bechem United has denied reports linking Hunters defender Samuel Osei Kuffuor with a transfer away from the Ahafo based club.

Kumasi based Opemsuo Radio, on Tuesday, claimed that the 20-year-old has agreed to join Asante Kotoko on a 3-year deal at the end of the season.

In response, Bechem United has released a statement stating no club has officially written to them to negotiate for the centre-back.

The statement further indicated that Osei Kuffuor signed a 3-year deal with Bechem United in 2021 and has only completed 7 months of that contract.

Samuel Osei Kuffuor has made 25 appearances for Bechem United, scoring one goal in this season’s GPL.

Some Ghanaian Referees have given the Ghana Football Association up to Thursday to release the phones of the 4 referees that have been seized by the Interigity team of the Ghana Football Association.

Four referees in the Ghana premier league and the Division one league have had their phones seized after betting slips were found on their phones by the GFA/FIFA integrity team.

The referees however opined that they are not in any way involved in match-fixing despite having betting slips on their phones Kessben Sports is told.

According to them, as stakeholders of the game, prior to games they also hear of the predicted scoreline.

They stressed they have no hand in fixing games and indicated that match-fixing emanates from the club officials who many times have made attempts to compromise with them when they are appointed to officiate games.

Ghana Football Association Executive committee member, Linford Boadu Asamoah had a heated verbal exchange with the president of the Ghana Football Association in their last meeting held in Accra, according to Kessben FM Sports.

According to the experienced football administrator, the president of the Association does not consult the executive members of the football Association when he’s taking some decisions.

The 52-year-old executive committee member was very infuriated over the actions of the GFA president, describing his attitude as disrespectful.

Kurt Okraku in a bid to explain things to the president of the Kotoku Royal Football Club also went rage on a high pitch which created an awful scene in the meeting.

It took the intervention of the other executive committee members to calm the situation to restore peace during the meeting.

King Faisal defender Pius Baffour Awuah has opened up on the club’s recently woes in the Ghana Premier League this season.

The Insha Allah boys who had a flying start to the campaign are currently struggling.

They have gone ten games without a win in the ongoing season – eight defeats and two draws.

The Kumasi-based side are currently 16th on the league table with 31 points with 10 points separating them from bottom placed Elmina Sharks FC and four points ahead of 17th placed WAFA.

Speaking to Agyenkwa FM in Kumasi, Pius Baffour believes poor decisions by referees who handle their games and injuries to some key players in their squad has accounted to the struggles in the second round of the campaign.

“We started very well this season comparing to last season, we we’re at a very good position on the league table in the first round but it’s unfortunate things are not working well in the second round, I believe we shall strongly bounce back effectively”

“Referees decisions and injuries at camp is the major cause of our woes, in fact, referees has caused us more than any other factor”

“In most of our games, you could clearly see the referees has the results in their pocket and always makes sure King Faisal suffer defeat no matter how best we will play on the the day, just look at our last game against Techiman Eleven Wonders”

“Yes goals scoring became a problem for the team because we lost our two best forwards, Mawuli Wayo was injured and was sidelined for some weeks”

“Mawuli is the main man in our set up, he contributes about 80% to our goals scoring and our team leading scorer also left for national duties”

“King Faisal won’t be relegated, we shall fight till our last breath to make sure we stay in the league and we can do that if referees officiate our games fairly”

King Faisal will face Eleven Wonders in week 29 of the Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Stadium next weekend.
