Bechem United to tour Portugal and France after the season

The President of Bechem United, Mr Kingsley Owusu Achau has outlined plans for his side after the ongoing season.

The hunters who are having a good season, will be capping it off with an European tour according to the Club’s president.

Speaking to Takoradi based Akoma FM, Mr Kingsley said they are bent on creating more opportunities for their talents across Europe and believes two or more players could get a club through this training tours.

“The policy of Bechem UTd is changing lives through football and we are focused on that mandate. We do that, by nurturing the youth and creating opportunities for them.

“Someone like Boakye Yiadom, I took him when he was at SHS 2, fortunately through his hard work, he eventually played for the Black Stars, I boast about him because I nurtured him”, he told Akoma FM.

“The plan is that, at the end of the season, we will go for a training tour in Europe, specifically Portugal and France.”

“The idea is to give opportunity to the current team and we believe 2 or 3 of them can get some clubs in Europe.

At least, that is the dream of every Ghanaian footballer and this is our commitment as well’, he added.

Bechem United are 2nd on the league table with 47points in 28games.

Breaking News: Ashantigold demoted to Division Two

Ashantigold SC will be demoted to the Division Two after being found Guilty of Match Manipulation in their 2020/21 Ghana Premier League Matchday 34 game against Inter Allies FC.

The decision takes effect from the 2022/23 league season.

Officials of the Club and Players who participated in the above-mentioned match have also been sanctioned b the Disciplinary Committee.

Bechem beat Aduana to reach FA Cup final

Bechem United have advanced to the MTN FA Cup final after defeating Aduana Stars 2-0 in a last four meeting at the Golden City Park in Berekum on Sunday.

Emmanuel Avoryo fired in a low shot from the edge of the penalty box to secure the opener in the 16th minute and Augustine Okrah doubled the lead with a cannon shot of a free-kick in the 25th minute that went past Aduana Stars goalkeeper Joseph Addo to hand Bechem United the much needed victory.

The Hunters will now face reigning champions Hearts of Oak in the Grande Finale at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on June 26. The winner of the knockout competition will seal qualification to next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

Bechem United have not won the FA Cup title since 2016 when they defeated Okwahu United 2-1 in a dramatic final.

Liverpool kept alive hopes of an unprecedented quadruple as Konstantinos Tsimikas struck a sudden-death penalty winner to earn victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup final.

In scenes similar to the Carabao Cup final earlier in the campaign when the Reds edged a shootout win, the sides again could not be separated in a goalless 120 minutes of play that saw countless wasted openings.

They split 27 shots on the day – 17 for Liverpool and 10 for Chelsea – and both sides saw efforts hit the woodwork before an extra-time period played in a manner that made penalties feel inevitable.

And when they came, Cesar Azpilicueta’s early miss handed Liverpool the initiative, only for Sadio Mane to see the potentially match-winning penalty saved, prompting Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel to drop to his knees and beat the Wembley turf in celebration.

Mason Mount saw Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson superbly save Chelsea’s second sudden-death effort, allowing Tsimikas to side-foot home and spark scenes of wild celebration in a season Reds’ fans will find hard to forget.

Black Satellites crash out of WAFU Cup of Nations after defeat to Burkina Faso

Ghana crashed out of the WAFU Zone B U-20 Cup of Nations after a 2-1 loss to Burkina Faso in Niger on Saturday.

The defending Champions who lost their opening game 2-0 to Nigeria needed nothing but a win to make it to the next round of the competition but a lackluster showing resulted in their second defeat on the spin.

Two goals were produced in the first half but it was Moussa Ky who gave Burkina Faso the lead in the 33rd minute after getting on the end of a cross to head home.

The Black Satellites equalized through substitute Alex Sarfo as the first half ended 1-1.

Back from recess, Ghana pressed their opponents for the second goal but profligacy in front of goal did them more harm as Abdul Rachid Zagre scored to make it 2-1 for Burkina Faso.

The Young Stallions advance to the semifinals alongside Nigeria with 4 points apiece after winning one and drawing one each.

The Black Satellites who won the 2020 edition of the Africa Youth Championship in Mauritius will not be able to defend the title – when the Nations Cup which will serve as qualifiers for the World Cup is held in Egypt from February 18 -March 12, 2023.

Hearts dismiss Dreams 3-2 to reach FA Cup final

Reigning champion Hearts of Oak progressed to the MTN FA Cup final with a 3-2 win over 10-man Dreams FC in an exciting last four meeting at the Accra Stadium on Saturday.

Dreams FC caused an early upset to Hearts of Oak with a 4th minute opener by Sylvester Simba but the Phobians responded with an equaliser in the 10th minute when forward Benjamin York grabbed the equaliser after Afriyie Barnieh’s initial shot was saved by Dreams goalie Augustine Koomson.

Back from recess, Afriyie Barnieh put Hearts of Oak in the lead with 46th minute effort. Dreams FC were reduced to 10 men in the 57th minute after Issa Ibrahim was sent off for a bad tackle on Hearts defender Mohammed Alhassan.

Dreams FC goalkeeper Solomon Agbesi came off the bench to replace fellow shot-stopper Augustine Koomson in the 64th minute, only to concede just two minutes later. Hearts of Oak midfielder Suraj Seidu struck past substitute Agbesi after capitalising on an assist from right-back Dennis Nkrumah Korsah.

Substitute Kwaku Karikari provided a consolation in the 79th minute shortly after replacing Agyenim Boateng but went ahead to miss some crucial scoring chances.

The defeat was Dreams FC’s second successive loss to Hearts of Oak under the supervision of new Head Coach Ignatius Osei Fosu within the last 14 days. Hearts of Oak beat Dreams FC 3-1 in the Ghana Premier League match-day 27 fixture on May 1.

The winner of Sunday’s other last four clash between Aduana Stars and Bechem United will face Hearts of Oak in the Grande Finale on June 26 in Kumasi.

Ramadan Cup 2022 starts today

The Long awaited annual Sharubutu Ramadan Cup which promises to be yet, another exciting competitive tourney, comes off today, May 14, 2022 at the New Fadama Astroturf.

Twenty-eight (28) Zongo communities will be taking part in this year’s edition from an initial eight (8) communities when it started eight (8) years ago.

The Annual Sharubutu Ramadan Cup is a tournament organized to honour the National Chief Imam, His Eminence Shiekh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.

This year’s edition is the seventh edition since the tournament got incepted.

The Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup is actually the best Inter-community tournament in the country due to its enormous production, media coverage, quality of football displayed, innovative techniques and the brains behind the tourney.

Last year, inasmuch as the tournament made waves, there was a massive talking point on the VAR that was used at the Grand Finale – an innovative technique that remains unbeatable.

Many dignitaries were present during the tourney – 3x CAF player of the year legend Abedi Pele, some of the ex and current players of the Ghana league also came to grace the occasion. Also, MP for Hohoe constituency John Peter Amewu was present at the grand finale.

Samuel Boadu names Hearts Of Oak starting line-up to face Dreams FC in the FA Cup semis

Coach Samuel Boadu has named Hearts Of Oak starting lineup for Dreams FC clash on the Semifinals of the MTN FA Cup in Accra this afternoon.

Richmond Ayi and Samuel Inkoom are in the lineup after missing the Ghana Premier League match against Bechem United last week.

For this afternoon’s match in Accra, he has kept his young forward three of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Benjamin Yorke, and Suraj Seidu.

Hearts of Oak are aiming to reach the FA Cup final to defend the championship they won last season against AshantiGold SC.

In the finals, the victor of the tie would face either Aduana Stars or Bechem United.

If nothing happens the following players will start for Hearts of Oak versus Dreams FC.

Asante Kotoko beat Future Stars in a friendly ahead of GPL clash against AshantiGold

Asante Kotoko defeated Division One League side, Future Stars FC in a friendly on Saturday morning at the Adako Jachie Training Complex.

The Porcupine Warriors posted a 2-0 victory over the lower-tier side as they intensify their preparations for their week 29 Ghana Premier League encounter against AshantiGold on Thursday.

Red-hot attacker Frank Mbella and Samuel Boateng grabbed the goals on the day as Kotoko controlled most part of the game against Boateng’s former side.

Stephen Amankona assisted Mbella’s goal with Christopher Nettey locating Samuel Boateng for Kotoko’s second goal in the second half.

Captain Abdul Ganiyu returned and paired with Andrews Appau at the central defence.

Richmond Lamptey also returned after he was sidelined for many weeks due to injury.

Kotoko leads the Ghanaian top-flight with 6 games to end the season.
