‘Even Harry Maguire has been scoring own goals’ – Unrepentant Seth Osei slams GFA over 30 months ban

AshantiGold SC central midfielder, Seth Osei has insisted that they played a competitive game against Inter Allies.

In the matchday 34 games at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, the Miners secured a 7-0 win over Allies.

In the game, Hashmin Musah scored two own goals and later admitted in a radio interview that his action was to spoil a bet placed on the said game.

A verdict by the Disciplinary Committee indicated that players and officials of both clubs have been banned on various grounds for engaging in match fixing.

Osei, who has been slapped with a 30-months ban says Ashgold played a competitive game against Allies.

According to him, scoring own goals in football is normal, and does not see anything wrong with what Hashmin Musah did, reiterating that Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire has been scoring own goals.

“I can confirm that we played a competitive game against Inter Allies in Obuasi,” he told Kumasi-based Pure FM.

“Hashmin Musah decided to score two own goals and for me, it happens in football and I don’t have any issue with that because Harry Maguire who is a top player has been scoring own goals.

“I am innocent of this scandal. I was never involved in this. It was a competitive game so why the ban?” he added.

Meanwhile, AshantiGold SC have been demoted to Division Two with a fine of Ghc100,000.

‘How do you expect me to earn my daily bread?’ – Banned Ashgold defender Samed Mohammed questions DC’s verdict

Ashantigold defender, Samed Mohammed has expressed his disappointment over Ghana Football Association [GFA] Disciplinary Committee.

The 22-year-old has been slapped with a two and half years ban handed him for match manipulation.

The defender has been banned from all football-related activities for a period of 30 months in accordance with Article 34.5(d)(i) of the Ghana Premier League Regulations, which prescribes a ban, either indefinitely or for a specific period, whenever the GFA or its Disciplinary Committee is satisfied that a fixed match or a match of convenience has taken place between AshantiGold SC and Inter Allies at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

Samed Mohammed was said to have insulted the Inter Allies FC coach, Felix Aboagye for bringing Hashmin Musah into the game to spoil the scoreline.

The action relates to a Ghana Premier League game at the end of the 2020/2021 season when Ashantigold beat Inter Allies by 7-0. An Allies player, Hashmin Musah, scored two own goals and later admitted his action was to spoil a bet placed on the said game.

However, Samed speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Precise FM said he has no hand in the match fixing and that it is an unfair to have banned him.

“The verdict is not right because they can never get any evidence against me that I staked a bet on that game because I have never stake a bet in my life and they can never accused me of playing a match of convenience because whoever knows me can attest to how I treat every game equally”

“I’m very worried by this decision and very confused. I think the committee has been very unfair to me because there were 22 players involved in the game so where are the others who were not charged? The player that scored the two deliberate own goals has had his ban reduced to six months”

“They have been very unfair to me, I’m a footballer and what do they expect me to do now, how do I earn my daily bread? I now understand the assertion that not all prisoners are guilty of their crimes”

“It could be that the match was a match of convenience but I knew nothing about it, all that I knew was that I was playing my league game and nothing else”

“I did not insult the Inter Allies coach but I only confronted him to ask why he substituted the player to score the two own goals, he insulted me and I retorted that ‘he is a disgrace’”

Ghana FA reject Hearts of Oak’s request to postpone GPL game against Gold Stars

Ghana Football Association (GFA) has rejected Hearts of Oak’s request to have their week 29 game against Bibiani Goldstars postpone after disease hit camp.

Over 15 Hearts players have been hospitalised over strange disease in various hospitals in Accra, disrupting preparations ahead of their match week 29 encounter.

Only five players reported for training on Monday after most of the players could not attend the session ahead their league game against Gold Stars.

“The reality is that after the Dreams FC game some players were not feeling well so our medical team stepped in.

“Most of them have been stabilized,” Opare told Original 91.9 FM.

“It’s left with only one player who will go through the last lab test. I spoke to one of the doctors. We wrote to the FA to postpone the game but the feedback wasn’t positive.

“Many of the players are first-team players but we will work on and play. They are currently training at the Legon School Park.”

Ansah Botchway was rushed to a clinic in Mamprobi on Sunday night while midfielder Nurudeen Abdul Aziz is on admission at the Universal Clinic in Madina.

Key players like Seidu Suraj and Amankwah Baafi have been hospitalised over the strange illness

However, Sulley Muntari, Samuel Inkoom and Gladson Awako are not among those affected by the illness.

Hearts of oak is scheduled to play Goldstars tomorrow at the Accra Sports Stadium.
