The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that coach Otto Addo will continue as the head of the senior national team, the Black Stars.

In addition, the football governing body in a statement on Tuesday night published that the Germany-trained tactician will be assisted by George Boateng and Didi Dramani.

Meanwhile, former Brighton manager Chris Hughton also keeps his job from the world cup playoff match as the technical advisor for the national team.

“The Ghana Football Association has appointed Otto Addo, Chris Hughton, George Boateng, and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani as coaches of the senior national team, the Black Stars until the end of December 2022.

“The quartet who masterminded Ghana’s qualification to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament will stay on to see to Ghana’s preparation to the world cup, the 2023 AFCON qualifiers and the world cup itself,” a statement from the Ghana FA said on Tuesday night.

It adds, “This follows an exhaustive negotiation and engagement with all relevant stakeholders including the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

“The Coaches will soon name their squad for Matchday 1 and 2 of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nation Cote D’lvoire 2023 qualifiers and the four-nation tournament in Japan.”

Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo will be announcing four debutants in his squad for the AFCON qualify against Madagascar.

The four debutants are Jan Gyamerah,Antoine Semenyo, Mohammed Salisu and Tariq Lamptey.

Tariq Lamptey has agreed to switch his nationality from his country of birth, England to Ghana, according to London-based Ghanaian coach Freddie.

The marauding wing-back has been on the wishlist of the Ghana Football Association and the news of his nationality switch will be warmly received with the AFCON qualifiers on the horizon.

In-form Bristol City striker Antoine Semenyo has formally declared his intentions to suit up for the senior national team, the Black Stars.

He said he took that decision before the World Cup playoffs against Nigeria, however, injury derailed that dream.

Mohammed Salisu has finally decided to play for Ghana, according to Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum.

Moreover, the Southampton defender has been reluctant in honouring a national team invite despite getting call-ups for previous international assignments.

Ghana will begin their qualifiers against Madagascar on June 1, 2022, at the Cape Coast Stadium before playing the Central African Republic four days later.

Ghana is in Group E for the qualifiers alongside, Angola, Madagascar, and the Central African Republic.

The Black Satellites will kick off their 2022 Maurice Revello Tournament campaign with a Group B encounter against Mexico on May 30 at the Stade de Lattre de Tassigny in Aubagne, France.

Coach Karim Zito will be eyeing an improved campaign at the competition, formerly known as the Toulon Tournament, to win back the hearts of Ghanaians following the Satellites recent elimination from the WAFU Zone B tourney in Niger.

Ghana faces Indonesia in their next game on June 2 at the Stade Jules Ladoumegue in Vitrolles, before wrapping up their group campaign against Venezuela on June 5 at the Stade de Lattre de Tassigny in Aubagne.

Algeria, which is pitted in Group C, joins Ghana as the only two African teams invited to feature at the 12-team tournament from May 29 to June 12, 2022.

The Black Satellites last appearance at the Maurice Revello Tournament was in 2007, when Ghana finished 4th in Group B after recording a draw against Netherlands and two defeats to Portugal and China. Strikers Eric Bekoe and Emmanuel Clottey registered Ghana’s only two goals of that tournament, 15 years ago.

In February, the Ghana FA appointed Otto Addo (Head Coach), George Boateng (Assistant Coach), Didi Dramani (Assistant Coach) and Chris Hughton (Technical Advisor) to lead Black Stars in the World Cup playoff against Nigeria. The quartet achieved the ultimate as Ghana edged Nigeria on away goals rule to secure a place at the World to be played from November 21 to December 18, 2022.

Following the qualification, the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo implored the Ghana FA to maintain the four-man interim technical team until at least after the World Cup before taking a substantive decision.

The FA acted upon the wishes of the president and have concluded talks with the quartet to lead Ghana at the 2022 World Cup and in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers, with announcement expected to be made this week.

Meanwhile, the squad to represent Ghana in the four nation tournament and in the AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar and the Central African Republic will be announced this week.

Regular faces Andre Ayew, Baba Rahman, Richard Ofori, Jordan Ayew, Andy Yiadom, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Baba Iddrisu, Alexander Djiku, Daniel Amartey and so on are expected to make the squad.

Cartegena’s Dauda Mohammed and Bolivian-based goalkeeper David Akologo have been handed maiden call-ups. Jeffrey Schlupp and Alfred Duncan are expected to make a return to the team.

The Black Stars will host Madagascar on Wednesday, June 1 in the AFCON qualifiers, before traveling away to face Central African Republic on Sunday, June 5.

Ghana will then play Japan, Chile and Tunisia in a four nation tournament in June as part of preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament.

The tournament dubbed (Kirin Super Cup 2022) will be hosted by Japan from Friday, June 10 to Tuesday, June 14, 2022.
