Samuel Boadu has named a 22-man squad for the FA Cup final clash with Bechem United on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports stadium.
Robert Addo Sowah on his return from injury was named in the squad as were Kofi Kordzi and Patrick Razak but Sulley Muntari was conspicuously missing from list sighted by this site.
This is the only opportunity for the Phobians to end the season with a silverware after missing out on the league title to their rivals Asante Kotoko.

Asante Kotoko SC have reportedly appointed Florence Ohene as the club’s new Commercial Manager according to Sasu Danquah of Opemsuo radio.
The role was previously occupied by Eric Twum who’s a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team.
Ms. Ohene brings to this role more than 20 years of local and international experience in the IT industry, driving transformation, leading teams, developing markets and supporting clients across multiple industries. She was the Regional Head of Sales for Vodacom Business Africa’s operations in Ghana and Francophone markets.
In prior roles, Ms. Ohene served as Business Director for Publicis Groupe Africa where she was responsible for the West Africa market, and as Business Development Manager, at Bell Canada. She was also the Founder and Managing Director of ABC Ghana Ltd., a start-up company focused on developing business cases for emerging solutions in Ghana and recently worked as a Country General Manager for IBM Ghana.
Ms Ohene who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Society from York University, Toronto, Canada is expected to use her expertise in Marketing and Sales to help the Nana Yaw Amponsah-led management in making the Porcupines an economically viable entity.
What does a Commercial Manager do?
A Commercial Manager is in charge of business growth. They identify areas of the organization that can be expanded and developed. Commercial Managers also generate quotes for potential customers, manage contracts and hire vendors. Commercial Managers also manage relationships with clients and contractors.
Bechem United head coach, Kassim Ocansey Mingle has stated they are having a normal preparations and will definitely cruise to their second FA Cup triumph this weekend.
The Hunters will battle it out with the ‘Phobians’ in the league cup final- a clash the giants are hoping to win to end the season with at least a silverware, having lost the league to arc rivals Kotoko.
The winner of the FA Cup despite getting the bragging and the enviable trophy, will also have the opportunity to represent the country in the CAF Confederations Cup next season.
Speaking on Akoma FM in Kumasi, the experience talent developer has stated they are going into the game with normal preparations and will play their hearts out to have their hands gripped on the trophy. “Preparations for the game are ongoing, we don’t want to put pressure on the boys.

Ghana goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott has completed his move to English League one side Charlton Athletic. The transfer sees the Ghanaian International move upward in football career with the English League one Wollacott’s new division.
The 25-year-old signed a three-year deal to join Charlton from League Two side Swindon Town on Thursday, June 23, 2022.
“I’m delighted. It’s the sort of club that you always want to be at. You always have the ambition to play for such a high-profile club. Obviously walking around the stadium you can feel the magnitude of the club. I’m really happy to be here,” he said.
“Ben being here made it an easy decision. We had a really good season last year. Obviously I know how he wants to play and I know how he wants his goalkeeper to play. I feel like, for the next step in my career, he can really develop my game.”
Wollocat’s stock rose after a string of impressive performances for the Black Stars as well as Swindon in League Two last season.
He was named the best goalkeeper in the division as he made Team of the Season at the end of the campaign.
Since making his debut for the Black Stars in November 2021, Wollocot has been Ghana’s first choice goalie.
He played in all three Ghana’s game at the Africa Cup of Nations and was pivotal as the Black Stars qualified for the World Cup.
Meanwhile, Ben Garner, who worked with Wollacott in the past expressed delight in capturuing the Ghana international.
“It’s another strong signing for us. Obviously Jojo is a player that I know very well having worked with him last season. I think he is a player with huge potential moving forwards as well and, again, he fits the character and the type of person that we want to bring into the football club,” he said.

Asekem FC have qualified to Division One League after defeating Pro Academy 4-3 on penalties in the final. They’ll play in Zone 2.
The two clubs shared the spoils 1-1 and proceeded to penalty shootouts in the final at Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday.
Douglas Owusu opened the scoring for Asekem by the 20th minute but Pro Academy pulled even against the run of play.
Asekem began the campaign in the Middle League by drawing 1-1 with First Klass on opening day before thrashing Ebony FC 3-0.
They later came from behind to pip Benab FC 2-1 to top Group A and qualify to the final.
Pro Academy, on the other hand, defeated Natcosta 2-0 on opening day before they defeated Jachie United 2-1 and Kumawuman 1-0 to top Group B with nine points.
The 2022 Nkawie Circuit inter-school Sports Competition bounces back into life with the calendar of activities now approved for take off following the endorsement of a letter by the Regional Director of Education in the Ashanti region.
It would be recalled that sporting activities in the various schools across the country were halted due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease.
The Ashanti region is the epicenter of school sports, and with many people eager to see their favourite school sports at the district levels resurrected, everything is in place for the start of various events planned for the term in the Nkawie Circuit, which is overseen by the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Directorate
The games are set to begin on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, and will last until July 1, 2022.
Football, volleyball, handball, and netball are the events that will be held in the three-day program, which will be held at the famous Kuffour Park, Nkawie.
A total of 10 schools will compete against each other, divided into groups with each comprised of four or three teams in each of the disciplines for both Junior High Schools and Primary Schools.
According to the directorate, the sports would be governed by the Ghana Education Service’s general norms, the Ghana Constitution, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The Opening Ceremony will be held on Wednesday morning before the commencement of the first game at exactly 8:00 a.m.
The first game in the soccer competition on Wednesday will be between Islamic JHS and NKawie Panin JHS.

The Black Stars of Ghana maintained their position in the latest FIFA Coca Cola rankings released on Thursday, June 23, 2022.
Ghana placed 60th globally and are 11th on the continent, making them the least ranked nation ahead of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The four-time African champions defeated Madagascar 3-0 in their opening AFCON qualifier in Ghana before they were held by lowly Central African Republic in the second game.
The Black Stars finished third at the Kirin Cup tournament, after losing 4-1 to Japan and beating Chile on penalties.
The team will next be involved in an international assignment in September.
Hearts of Oak have assured its teeming fans that they will beat Bechem United to defend their MTN FA Cup trophy on Sunday.
The Phobians will come up against the Hunters at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, June 26, 2022 as they aim to successfully defend their title.
Samuel Boadu’s side were abysmal in the just-ended 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season – finishing 6th with 46 points losing their last four games.
However, ahead of the MTN FA Cup, the club’s Communications Director, Kwame Opare Addo is convinced his side will not suffer a fifth defeat.
According to him, they are determined to defend their trophy despite their poor season in the Ghana Premier League.
“I must admit that our last four games we played before the end of the season did not go as we expected but that is football,” Opare Addo said in an interview with Asempa FM.
“We were hoping to finish the season in a respectable position but we dropped out of the top four which is not good for us but we are playing against Bechem United in the finals of the MTN FA Cup and I must say that we will not suffer a fifth defeat.
“Bechem United are on a good form but we will not be defeated on Sunday. The players are eager to win the trophy on Sunday.
“The club wants to win a trophy and that is the FA Cup. A fifth consecutive defeat will not happen on Sunday,” he added.
Asante Kotoko duo Franck Etouga Mbella and Georges Mfegue has left the shores of Ghana for their native Cameroon.
Etouga, 21, joined Asante Kotoko from Cameroonian topflight side AS Fortuna de Mfou before the start of the current campaign together with his compatriot Mfegue Omgba, 24, who joined from Avion Academy of Douala.
The duo have earned high marks for their scintillating performances since arriving in Kumasi and are highly adored by the fans of Kotoko, particularly Mbella who was scoring goals for fun.
With their exploits, the Porcupines clinched the 2021-22 Ghana Premier League title with both combining to score 29 of the club’s 48 league goals.
Mbella Etouga netted 21 goals and 3 assists in 30 appearances, while Georges Mfegue managed 8 goals, 5 assists in the just ended season.
Asante Kotoko broke camp on Sunday after a dinner at the Tang Hotel in Accra following a 1-1 draw with Accra Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The the duo on Thursday morning took advantage of the break to depart Ghana for their native Cameroon to spend the holidays with their families and are expected to return to begin pre-season with Kotoko next month.

Some irate youth of Navrongo in the Kassena-Nankana Municipality have called on President Akufo-addo to complete the stalled Navrongo sports stadium project in the Upper East Region.
The irate youth were fraustrated about how the project has abandoned for over two years now.
According to them,the absence of the much-talked-about project was affecting sports development in the municipality and region.
Akwata Yaminu Stanislav, one of the conveners delivering their petition, said the government’s inability to complete the project amounted to depriving the people of Navrongo fair share of development projects.
He said, “At the sod-cutting ceremony in July 2018, we were categorically told the project will be completed in nine months. In fact, the contractor promised to finish it in 8 months and hand it over to us as a valentine’s gift. To wit, the project in normalcy should have been completed in 2019 even if it would have had some delays.
“We waited in 2019, waited in 2020 and waited in 2021 we still have no stadium of our own. There exists no completed football pitch worth of mention in the whole region.
“We do have talents in Navrongo and the Upper East at large but the no-stadium situation or worthy football pitch is derailing our efforts. Currently, there are no stadia in the region qualified for the Ghana Division One league football. Any team that qualifies from the Upper East Region have to choose between Tamale or Wa to play their home matches.
”The Navrongo sports stadium which comes with a youth resource centre is one of its kind in the region and one of ten similar projects being built in other parts of the country.
The project began in 2018 but has since stalled due to payment infractions between the government and the contractor.
