Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richard Attah honestly explains why local players struggle at Black Stars

Hearts of Oak shot stopper Richard Attah has attributed local players’ struggle at the Black Stars to pitch conditioning.

According to Richard Attah, the foreign-based players prefer to play on wet pitches whereas the local players are used to dry pitches.

He added that it takes time for the local players to get use with the conditions of the pitch, and by the time they do that, coaches would have selected their team already.

“I think the local league lack a lot of things. If you make it to the national team before you jell with them, they [the coaches] would have gotten their team already. The main factor is the pitch. As a local player, the main challenge for local players is the pitch. Because the professionals want the pitch wet, which makes everything different.

“When receiving the ball it travels from you a bit, so after you begin to settle and get used to it in three or four days’ time, they would have gotten their team already. If you don’t wet the pitch they can’t play.” he said on Angel TV as quoted by Ghanaweb.

Attah recounted how he struggled to adjust to the condition of the pitches in the local league after spending weeks with the Black Stars for the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in January this year.

“For me, when I came back after the AFCON, I struggled in training because the ball did not move fast. It took me two weeks to get used to. [While at AFCON] the ball was fast so it sharpened my reflexes.”

When asked if the difference between local and foreign players is the tempo of the respective leagues, he answered “I think so.”

Richard Attah between August 2021 to January 2022 received four consecutive call-ups to the Black Stars. However, he didn’t make an appearance.

Hearts of Oak goalie Richard Attah reacts to Dr Nyaho Tamakloe’s ‘smoking and drinking’ claims

Hearts of Oak shot stopper Richard Attah has disclosed that he has never set sights on any Hearts of Oak player smoking or drinking.

Recently, board member of the club, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe alleged that some players of the club are indiscipline to the extent that they smoke and drink before matches.

“I have handled Hearts of Oak for over 50 years and I can smell and see indiscipline. I have repeatedly talked to the coach even publicly at Board meetings that he is the overall boss of the club.”

“But there has been a lot of incidents such is breaking of camp and players going to drink and smoke before they come when they have a match the following day. Some players drink and Smoke before games,” Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe said on Accra-based Asempa FM.

Responding to the allegations, Richard Attah has said that he has never drunk or smoked, neither has be sighted any of his teammates doing that.

“Everyone who knows me can testify I don’t drink alcohol. If anyone has evidence of me drinking alcohol, he should bring it out. I don’t also smoke,” Attah told Angel TV.

“I haven’t seen any player at Hearts of Oak who is into that. I don’t know on what grounds our board member made those statements but I can testify that I haven’t seen anyone like that,” he added.

When quizzed if the comments from Nyaho Tamakloe has affected the team, he said: “This development came after the season ended so I can say it hasn’t affected us in anyway. Maybe by the time we return they would have done something about it.

‘Afriyie Barnieh should always earn Black Stars call-up”- Ras Kuuku

Veteran Reggae Dance Dancehall artiste, Kojo Korankye widely known as Ras Kuuku in an interview with Accra based Angel 102.9 FM has stated that, Hearts of Oak star boy Daniel Afriyie Barnieh should be handed consistent call-ups to the Black Stars.

The Me Mpaebo hit maker highlighed that Afriyie Barnieh is a talented player and he also deserves to be always called to the Black Stars as other players do get called. He also made it plainly understood that there are several players that helped Ghana qualify to the world Cup.

The one time VGMA Reggae Dance hall artiste of the year affirmed that these players fought for Ghana to secure the qualification and they should be recognised and appreciated by handling them a place in our world Cup squad later this year.

”Hearts of Oak has a player called Afriyie Barnieh, the guy knows how to play football very well. He needs to be called consistently to the Black Stars.” Ras Kuuku said.

Upon all the players who’ve switched nationality, you think Barnieh would get a call-up during the World Cup?, quizzed the Show host. But Ras Kuuku insisted Afriyie Barnieh was part of Ghana’s qualification into the world cup. He needs to be part of the squad.

Barnieh joined Hearts of Oak from Madina Republicans last two seasons and since then, he’s been putting on massive performance for the Accra based club. Ras Kuuku believes he’s one for the future and needs to be always called to the Black Stars.

Appoint official Imam and pastor for Black Stars for 2022 World Cup – Moses Foh-Amoaning tells Ghana FA

Ghanaian Lawyer and seasoned Sports journalist Moses Foh-Amoaning, has advised the Ghana Football Association to consider appointing an Imam and a Pastor to serve as spiritual leaders for the Black Stars team.

Ghana, four-time African Champions, have secured qualification to play at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The West African giants are in the same group alongside Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.

Otto Addo‘s side  recently took part in the Kirin Cup tournament held in Japan after a victory over Madagascar, and a stalemate against Central African Republic in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

With continuous allegations of ‘juju’ in the Ghanaian national team in recent years, Mr. Amoaning wants the country’s football governing body to get spiritual heads for the senior national team.

Reports emerged in the local media that some players took their personal spiritualists to the Black Stars camp during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

And the memeber of the Justice Dzamefe Commission of Enquiry wants the FA to appoint a Pastor and Iman to clock down the issue of players bringing their own spiritualists in camp.

“As Ghanaians and for that matter Africans, we believe in spirituality and to avoid so-called juju problems at black stars camp, the management team must put in place a structure that is appointed official Pastor and Imam for the team,” he told Oman FM in Accra.

“No individual should be allowed to bring their own spiritualist to the camp,” he added.

Meanwhile, Athletic Bilbao striker Inaki Williams, Brighton right-back Tariq Lamptey and Southampton centre-back Mohammed Salisu have availed themselves to be part of the Black Stars team at the global showpiece in Qatar in November.

English club Reading appoint Ghana defender Andy Yiadom as new captain

Ghana defender Andy Yiadom has been appointed as the new captain of English Championship side Reading ahead of the new season.

Since joining the team, Yiadom has played a vital role and has become an important player.

The Black Stars player committed his future to Reading by signing a new long-term contract this summer, keeping him with the team through2025. At the conclusion of the previous campaign, he was named Player of the Season.

Yiadom has played for the Royals for the past four years after departing Barnsley, a team he previously captained. Yiadom is one of the club’s longest-tenured players.

“It’s a privilege,” he said of his new role at the club.
“Ultimately I just want to be a service to the players and to the club.

“And we’ve got to reach for the stars. If everyone pulls in the same direction, we’re capable of big things,” he added.

The right-back made 38 appearances last season – taking his total appearances for the club to 132.

Manchester United keen to sign Ghana target Brian Brobbey

Manchester United are preparing to hijack Ajax’s transfer for striker Brian Brobbey, claim German newspaper BILD.

RB Leipzig signed Brobbey from Ajax in 2021, but the striker failed to settle at the German club.

Erik ten Hag re-signed Brobbey on loan and the striker made valuable contributions towards their Eredivisie title win.

Ajax were looking to sign Brobbey on a permanent basis this summer, but this is now in danger from United.

BILD report Manchester United are keen on Brobbey, reporting: “His move to ex-club Ajax seemed to be in the final meters. But now there is an interesting twist according to BILD information. In talks with Ajax it came out: England club Manchester United is said to have switched to Brobbey.”

RB Leipzig were said to be willing to sell for 15 million Euros, (£12.6 million). Don’t be surprised if United’s interest pushes up the price.

Brobbey was asked about Ten Hag’s move to United at the end of the season, telling Voetbal International: “I’m very happy for Ten Hag. It is a very nice step. As long as he gets me again in two years. No kidding.”

The young striker might get his move right away. United’s interest is no doubt sparked by doubts over Cristiano Ronaldo’s involvement for next season.

Sky Sports report Ronaldo will not be going on pre-season tour with United.

United’s interest in Brobbey makes sense, in that he is a player Ten Hag knows well and believes him, and his physical style and ability to hold up play, could be very well suited to the Premier League.

There is a risk that United sniping Brobbey from Ajax could upset the Dutch club, at a time where the Red Devils are attempting to sign Lisandro Martinez and Antony from them. The Daily Record report Ajax want £106 million for the pair.

Marca reported in 2021 that Brobbey dreamed of playing for United. Describing himself via De Telegraaf, he says he idolises Didier Drogba, commenting: “I am an annoying forward. Strong, dangerous and fast.”

Incoming Hearts striker Junior Kaaba accused of ‘age and identity fraud’

0

Incoming Hearts of Oak striker, Junior Kaaba has been accused of lying about his age and real identity.

As earlier reported, the Cameroonian and the Phobians have sealed terms of a two-year contract which comes with a further option.

Kaaba is expected to travel to Accra next week to complete his switch from Yaounde-based Fauve Azur FC.

On Thursday, the player was quoted by allezleslions.net to have confirmed his impending move: “I am coming to Ghana with a single objective, to score goals and win titles.”

The deal was facilitated by New Generation Footballers, the same agency former Hearts midfielder Benjamin Afutu belongs to.

But Kaaba – who is currently with the Cameroon home-based national team preparing for the CHAN 2022 qualifiers – could be in serious trouble as he gets wildly accused of falsifying his identity.

FC NORIS – a German Players’ Agent Agency – which believed it was representing Junior Kaaba all this while – also published on its website an “immediate separation” hours after discovering he had ditched them.

“Due to a newspaper article, we had to acknowledge today that the player KAABA – Fauve Azur FC Jaunde – has been lying and deceiving us for weeks,” the publication opened.

FC NORIS went on to accuse the player of age and identity falsification. According to the agency, Kaaba was born in 1993 meaning he will be about 29 years old and not 23 as circulated online.

“Mr. Junior KAABA has not only changed his age, but his entire identity. His true identity is known to us as of today. He uses two valid ID cards.

“The player fooled us all, but only for a short time.”

“…We inform FECAFOOT, CAF, UEFA and also FIFA in detail about the machinations of the player KAABA.

“We inform the German embassy in Yaounde about him and present the documents we have as proof. KAABA should never get a Schengen visa in his life.

“We, FC NORIS, are also filing a criminal complaint against the player in Cameroon for forging documents,” portions of the statement read.

Read the full publication by FC NORIS:

Due to a newspaper article, we had to acknowledge today that the player KAABA – Fauve Azur FC Jaunde – has been lying and deceiving us for weeks.

Anyone who is so dishonest also lies in other ways. We have therefore researched KAABA again. To our astonishment, but ultimately not surprising, we found that although KAABA had given us his real age, born in 1993, and had also documented this properly, other websites listed him with a falsified age and false identity. This also applies to the newspaper article we have by “Football Writer, kick442.com-Cameroun”, written by Angu Lesley

Mr. Junior KAABA has not only changed his age, but his entire identity. His true identity is known to us as of today. He uses two valid ID cards.

The player fooled us all, but only for a short time.

In Germany, there is a saying: lies have short legs.

I’ve bad experienced a lot here in Cameroon, but also with players from other African countries, but that a person lies so brutally and uninhibited up to the last moment is a new experience for me too.

Kaaba, a criminal for willfully falsifying documents, characterless for shamefully and unscrupulously abusing the goodwill of people who wanted to help him develop his career.

Kaaba has trampled on our good nature, our work, our benevolence and trust in him.

We don’t accept that in any way and we don’t put up with it either!

Junior Kaaba was immediately deleted from our website.

We inform FECAFOOT, CAF, UEFA and also FIFA in detail about the machinations of the player KAABA.

We inform the German embassy in Yaounde about him and present the documents we have as proof. KAABA should never get a Schengen visa in his life.

We inform the relevant websites where KAABA is listed with false name and age

We, FC NORIS, are also filing a criminal complaint against the player in Cameroon for forging documents.
Players like Kaaba must be eliminated in football because it is precisely such “KAABA’s” that damage the reputation of all honest African players and honest players are cheated of the chance to lead a better, more successful life outside of Africa.
Years ago I wondered why so many European clubs strictly rejected players from very specific countries. Today I know!
