Hearts of Oak legend Bernard Don Bortey has called on the management of the club to re-sign midfielder Benjamin Afutu Kotei ahead of next season.

The enterprising midfielder left the Phobians after helping the club to win the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season.

He is currently without the club after terminating his contract with Egyptian Premier League side Eastern Company FC.

According to reports in the local media, the midfielder would want a return to the rainbow boys ahead of the 2022/23 season.

In an interview with Kumasi-based Wontumi FM, Don Bortey called on the hierarchy of Hearts of Oak to consider re-signing Afutu despite his painful exit.

“I understand supporters of the club are calling on management to re-sign Benjamin Afutu, he was an exceptional player for the team but he forced himself out of the team. Patrick Razak left the club same way so people had to get involve on his return to the club.

“Afutu is a proud Phobians, so if they will welcome him back into the team, they should go ahead and do it. He is back in the country and if he has apologized for any wrong doing they should forgive him”

The Ghana Football Association has launched an investigation into alleged reports about some coaches at the female Junior National Football teams sleeping with the young girls, Kessben Sports has gathered.

The report alleges some of the male coaches have been making sexual advances on the female players which have resulted in pregnancies.

According to snippets of information, there have been a number of pregnancies which have been aborted following the acts.

The report also has it that, some of the female trainers have also been engaging in the act of lesbianism with the young girls.

The Ghana Football Association after learning about the alleged reports has finally opened an investigation into the unconfirmed happenings.

Asante Kotoko defender, Imoro Ibrahim is set to undergo medical at Al Hilal ahead of his transfer to the club, according to Oyerepa FM’s Eugene Adu-Poku.

According to reports in Ghana, Al Hilal have agreed to pay $150,000 for the services of the 22-year-old left-back.

He’s expected to leave the shores of Ghana today, Tuesday, August 2, 2022 to undergo a mandatory medical in Sudan.

Imoro, if he passes his medical will pen a 2-year deal worth $10,000 a month salary.

Last season, he became the Ghana Premier League’s player with most assists (8), scoring twice – all from free-kicks to help Kotoko win the league title.

The list of top clubs that have fished for his services over the past two years is impressive.

Hearts of Oak midfielder, Sulley Ali Muntari has become the highest-paid GPL player after the departure of Asante Kotoko’s Fabio Gama dos Santos according to sports journalist Richmond Opoku ‘PKay’ Afriyie.

The former Light FM and Fox FM sports analyst said on his Facebook Live that the former Kotoko attacker was earning $4,000 during his two seasons in the Ghanaian Premier League. But after he left Kotoko to join Al-Muharraq in Bahrain, Muntari has become the highest-paid footballer with $2000 a month.

According to him, Asante Kotoko’s Franck Mbella Thierry Etouga is the second on the list with $1,500 a month followed by Medeama’s Ahmed Toure and Hearts of Oak’s Samuel Inkoom who both earn $1000 every month.

The list, he said, is for players who are being paid in US dollars every month.

He went on to reveal that Hearts of Oak’s Afriyie Barnie will become the second highest-paid player when he signs a new deal later this year.

Aduana Stars has expressed interest in WAFA striker Justus Torsutsey to beef up their team ahead of the next season’s Ghana Premier League.

According to report making rounds in the Ghanaian media, Aduana Stars new head coach Paa Kwesi Fabin has informed the management of the club about the immediate inclusion of the striker into their set up.

Report says, the management of Aduana have began negotiations with WAFA for the swoop of the talented forward.

Torsutsey netted seven (7) goals WAFA last season but they weren’t enough to save them from relegation.

Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Emmanuel Osei Kuffuor has stated that if his $15,000 in bonuses for winning the CAF Champions League in 2000 are not paid, he will seize control of the club’s office.

According to Kuffour, the management and the players put pen to paper and agreed on a $25,000 bonus for each player if they win the Champions League.

Speaking in an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah TV, the former Black Stars player said he got between $8,000 to $10,000 of the bonus.

“Yeah, we had money but they (Hearts of Oak) did not give us the money they promised us…$25,000 and I got about $8,000 to $10,000. They have not paid the balance. I heard that Charles Allottey raised this issue and they insulted him, they are lucky. They did not just promise us, we signed documents on it. Everyone was given a paper to sign,” he said.

He continued that, the mount he received came in bits and not in full.

“It came in instalments. You’ll be there and unexpectedly they come and share $2000 each to every player. It is disheartening. I have some files and I know that will find that paper there.”

Kuffour, who is now based in the United States, added that management made excuses at the time, but when he returns to Ghana, he will storm the club’s office and seize everything.

“We went and told them we need our monies, they said they were yet to receive money from CAF. Every they haven’t received money from CAF. There are certain things I don’t want to say in this interview but the day I’ll get to Ghana they will see. That day I will let you follow me with your camera. If they fail to give me my money I’ll seize their things.”

Hearts of Oak won their first continental trophy in 2000 after defeating Esperance de Tunis 5-2 on aggregate.

Emmanuel Osei Kuffour scored three of the five goals, including one in the 2-1 first-leg victory and a brace in the 3-1 second-leg win in Accra.

He spent seven years with the Phobians, winning every trophy available to the club.

Hearts of Oak won the inaugural CAF Confederations Cup in 2004, defeating Asante Kotoko 8-7 on penalties after the tie ended two-all on aggregate.

The most vivid memory of the second leg at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium was Hearts equalising a few minutes after Kotoko coach Hans Dieter-Schmidt substituted Charles Taylor.

Many Kotoko fans still blame the coach’s decision for their defeat. Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak supporters boast that their ‘operations’ regarding the substitution were spot on.

Former Hearts midfielder Emmanuel Osei Kuffour has admitted that they used juju on the manager and believes it worked because Kotoko was led by a white coach.

“Yeah the coach was white, not black that’s why it worked. If he were to be black I think he wouldn’t have substituted him but because he was white it worked easily,” he told Dan Kwaku Yeboah TV on YouTube.

“For juju everyone does it but for me, I don’t understand why it worked on the white man. Because I’m very sure that it wouldn’t have worked if he were a black man.

He also revealed that during the game, they warned Taylor to walk off the pitch or else he will be substituted.

“He was our (former)teammate and the intention wasn’t to fight him. It’s football and we wanted to tell him what’s good for him and that he should “leave the pitch. It will be better for you to leave. If you don’t leave, we will let your coach sub you off.”

The first leg of the final ended one-all at the Accra Sports Stadium. Louis Agyemang netted a 90th minutes equaliser for Hearts of Oak after Michael Osei had given Kotoko the lead on the hour mark.

During the second leg in Kumasi, Charles Taylor put the home side ahead in the 53 minutes, before Lawrence Adjah-Tetteh pulled parity inside the 80th minute to send the match into extra time.

Hearts went on to clinch the trophy that was dubbed ‘the virgin cup’ via penalty shootouts.

The Phobians following their triumph made history by becoming the first club to win all three CAF Inter-Club Competitions – CAF Champions League (2000), CAF Confederations Cup(2004) and CAF Champions of Champions- Super Cup (200).

Al Hilal Omdurman have reached a full agreement with Asante Kotoko over a move for trusted left-back Imoro Ibrahim, according to Multimedia’s Owuraku Ampofo. The former Karela man has been linked with a move away from the Kumasi-based club, with plenty of clubs interested.

However, it appears that the Sudanese champions are the first team to make a breakthrough in talks with Kotoko. 

It’s no surprise that elite clubs have taken an interest in the 22-year-old, who has impressed since moving to Kotoko from Karela United back in 2019. Last season he scored two (2) and assisted eight (8) in 27 games in the Premier League to help his side win the title.

That form has seen him become a regular for the Black Galaxies who edged out Benin in the first round of the CHAN qualifiers with many also campaigning for his inclusion in the Black Stars squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

And his progression doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon, with a move to a another high-profile club on the cards this window. The side that currently lead the way are Al Hillal, following Owuraku Ampofo’s report that a deal has been agreed with the Porcupines.

The reporter adds that a move worth $150,000 plus about $260,000 add-ons has been agreed. It is reported that Imoro will earn $10,000 monthly salary should he pen a deal with the Sudanese side.

There’s plenty of twists and turns left in this saga, but it appears Al Hilal have taken a huge step towards bolstering their defensive options.

Al Hillal are also said to be interested in Georges Mfegue and Danlad Ibrahim with offers reportedly sent to the Reds already for negotiations.
