Junior Kaaba scores as Hearts Of Oak thrash Future Stars in a friendly
Accra Hearts Of Oak engaged lower division side, Future Stars FC in their first preseason game since arriving in the Ashanti Region earlier this week.
The Phobians trounced the Division One League side 4-0 at Ejisu as they stepped up their preparations ahead of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League.
Hearts secured a 3-0 lead in the first half, scoring through Yassan ouatching, Junior Kaaba and Amankwaa Baafi.
After recess, coach Samuel Boadu’s charges netted their 4th on the day through young midfielder Enoch Asubonteng.
Hearts are currently in the Ashanti region to finalise their preseason ahead of the new campaign.
They will battle Ivorian side Bouake FC in an international friendly on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Hearts of Oak will play an Ivorian top-tier side Bouake FC in a pre-season friendly at the Babayara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday 4th September, 2022 .

Hearts of Oak will begin their Betpawa GPL campaign with a trip to Dormaa Ahenkro to battle it out with Aduana Stars in the match-day one of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.
Hearts of Oak who represents Ghana in the 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup competition are expected to play either AS Douanes (Burkina Faso) and ASR Bamako (Mali) in the second preliminary round.

The CEO Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah says what has been lacking at Asante Kotoko is not about trophies.
He says his management is more focused on putting the right structures at the Kumasi-based football club.
Speaking on the Dentaa show, Nana Yaw Amponsah said even if Kotoko win the CAF Champions league, it will be nothing new to the club because Kotoko have achieved such a feat before.
“There is nothing new that we are going to do that has not been done before. Talk about leagues, FA cups, and Champions League, they are nothing new, we have won them before.
“What has been lacking at club which we have been trying to have is continuity. It looks as if at the end of every management, the club starts from ground zero” He said.
Fatau Dauda wants Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim to be included in Black Stars squad for World Cup
Former Black Stars goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has urged the technical handlers of the Black Stars to consider taking Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Asante Kotoko goalkeeper has been in good form for both club and country as he helped Kotoko clinch the 25th Ghana Premier League title last season.
He is also the goalkeeper for the Black Galaxies having kept three clean sheets so far in matches against Benin and Nigeria.
Speaking in an interview with Radio Gold, the former Ashgold shot stopper called on the technical team to cast an eye on the Kotoko goalkeeper.
“I know that the goalkeeping department of the Black Stars led by Richard Kingson is working and looking at Danlad Ibrahim,” he told Accra-based Radio Gold.
“If they have to consider any goalkeeper apart from those playing outside the country then it should be Danlad Ibrahim.
“Of course, it’s obvious because he is our Black Galaxies number one and after the Black Stars, the next is the Black Galaxies.
“It will depend on what the coaches want from the goalkeeper and that is why I’m advising him on how to play.
“He can be in the team if the coaches want him and I’m very sure that if they can qualify most of the players will be at the World Cup,” he added.
Nyaho-Tamakloe backs Asamoah Gyan’s World Cup bid
Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Chairman, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has jumped to the defence of Asamoah Gyan and vouched on his capability to represent the Black Stars at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
According to him, the records and contributions of the 35-year-old for the national team spoke volumes such that if he was in good form, his inclusion in the squad would be extremely beneficial to the chances of the senior national team.
While reacting to the recent controversy which ensued over the former Black Stars skipper’s availability for selection to the Mundial, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe said Gyan towered above all the strikers in the team currently, hence should the coach deem it appropriate to invite him, he would be in support of such decision.
”Asamoah Gyan has made an incredible mark in Ghana football. He is a good footballer and if he has the stamina, why not?” the Hearts of Oak board member explained.
Roger Milla’s example
Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe said those condemning Gyan on the basis of his age should consider what Cameroun legend, Roger Milla, did for his country at the 1994 World Cup at the age of 38, likewise England’s Stanley Matthews during the 1950s.
“Roger Milla opted to play in the World Cup at an old age and did well. We can also talk about Stanley Matthews of England who was a key figure in the team and was known as the tactical magician.
“He was later invited to Ghana by Ken Harrison, who was then General Manager of Hearts of Oak in the 1950s,” he recalled.
The former GFA boss, however, stressed that though the decision to play at the World Cup rested on the Stars coach, if Gyan was mentally strong and physically fit, he saw no reason why he should be overlooked because Gyan still had something to offer the nation.
“If he can train with the present team and the coach finds him fit, he should be invited because I strongly believe if he can match the tempo at training and the physique, he should be able to play.
“I think Gyan has the skill because when he is running with the ball, defenders fear to come near him. He has the skills and tactics but the strength to play is the problem. If he can work on that, he will be a fantastic addition to the World Cup,” he added.

Abbey Quaye to return to Great Olympics after failed Hearts of Oak move
Great Olympics Board Member, Oluboye Commodore has communicated that the only betPawa Ghana Premier League club midfielder Maxwell Abbey Quaye will play for, is the Wonder Club.
He stated this in an interview with Citi Sports after seeing his side win the GHALCA G6 title thanks to a 2-0 win over Bechem United at the Accra Stadium.
When quizzed about the status of the 24-year-old, Oluboye Commodore stated, “He has assured that if he has to play in Ghana, he will play with Great Olympics. He is in the system for Great Olympics now….He has told me that he will not play in Ghana if he is not playing with Olympics.”

KNUST to host 2022 GUSA games
All is set for the 2022 Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) games to begin at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The biennial sporting event offers an opportunity for students to showcase and develop their talents.
Sixteen institutions will participate in this year’s games, which is expected to attract about 4,000 student athletes between November 4 and 21.
Launching the 27th GUSA Games, authorities at host university, KNUST, expressed readiness to hold a successful event.
Vice Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Prof. Addo Fordjuor stressed the University’s preparedness towards the tournament.
He hopes it will build friendship among competing institutions.
“The KNUST is prepared and ready to host the 2022 GUSA Games on our beautiful and serene campus.
“It is our expectation that the 2022 GUSA games will serve as yet another opportunity for the students of our institutions to exhibit friendship and healthy competitions among themselves,” he said.
NUGS President, KNUST, Hafiz Toyyib, emphasized the importance of the games in shaping the health of the student body.
“For we know that it presents an opportunity for students to take stock of their health while in school and also develop their talent in extracurricular activity rather than the usual academic work,” he said.
The 18-day games include football; athletics, volleyball, hockey, handball; basketball; netball; goalball; badminton; table tennis; tennis and beach volleyball among other sporting disciplines.
