Danny Welbeck hilariously reacts to Tariq Lamptey’s Black Stars initiation dance moves

England striker of Ghanaian descent, Danny Welbeck has reacted to Black Stars new player, Tariq Lamptey’s dance moves which he exhibited at the teams camp in Paris, France.

Tariq Lamptey was on the dance floor during the Black Stars initiation ceremony to officially welcome the new players into the team.

Danny Welbeck laughed his hearts out as he tweeted with laughing emojis, accompanied by the caption: “This has cracked me up!! Uncle T, Tariq Lamptey.”

The initiation ceremony is held by the teams to formally welcome new players to teams.

Some other players who exhibited their dancing skills included Inaki Williams, Ransford Yeboah, Mohammed Salisu, Stephan Ambrosius, Antoine Semenyo among others.

Ghanaian striker Abdul-Aziz Yakubu hopes to make Black Stars Squad for 2022 World Cup

Ghanaian striker Abdul-Aziz Yakubu says he hopes to earn a spot in Ghana’s final squad and also play for the Black Stars at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to hold between November 20 and December 18.

The Ghanaian has been impressive in the Portuguese top-flight after helping Rio Ave to secure a return to the league, as they won the Liga Portuga 2, with the striker scoring 11 goals.

Aziz has five goals in seven appearances in the Primeira Liga, plus two assists.

However, he did not make Otto Addo’s squad for the September friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua.

Although disappointed, Aziz remains optimistic about being invited before the World Cup in Qatar.

“I think so [on whether he has a chance], the numbers speak for me,” Aziz told Zerozero in an interview.

“Ghanaian websites and journalists talk about me, so I believe, let’s see. I hope to have the opportunity to represent my country one day and if it’s at the World Cup, perfect.”

“Last season I already had good numbers [in terms of goals], but in Ghana, they always said ‘ah, but he plays in the second league’. Now I play in the I Liga, so I hope they don’t keep downplaying my goals.”

Ghana has been housed in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.

The Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, has disclosed that the majority of the players he plans to use at the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar are among the players preparing for the international friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua.

On Friday, the four-time African champions will face Brazil in France. Otto Addo’s charges have been preparing for the fierce encounter since Monday.

The inclusion of Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, and Mohammed Salisu boosted the strength of the team, and many believe a few changes will be made in the Ghana squad for the Mundial when the time is due.


Speaking to the media, the Borussia Dortmund trainer hinted that the door is still open to all Ghanaian footballers, although the majority of the players he intends to use will play against Brazil and Nicaragua.

“The major players are here. The door is still opened, nothing is written in stone.
 

Speaking on the friendly game against Brazil on Friday, he said, “I will not declare there is pressure, but this is the job as the coach; you always have to find difficult decisions.

“Also, let’s take it like everybody is doing bad; then it is also a difficult decision.

“This is the way we want to have it; we want our players to have success at their clubs, we want them to score but also to defend well, to play well, and have assists.”

“So, it’s not only about scoring. Surely scoring is the obvious thing for everybody but we are monitory all the players and looking at their performances.

“This is for us the measurement. Previous games, performance at their clubs, and they are still training.

“Also, our style of play, our opponent players, and what we need going into the game. The performances at the club is taking a big part in the decision-making.” He landed

Ghana will battle Brazil Friday, September 23, 2022 at the Oceane Stadium in Le Havre, France before taking on Nicaragua on September 27.

Nico Williams Spain call-up not to prevent him from playing for Ghana – Luis Enrique

Head coach of Spain, Luis Enrique says that the national team call-up of Nico Williams is not to prevent him from playing for Ghana.

Nico Williams is the younger brother of new Black Stars striker Inaki Williams and was on the horizon of the Ghana FA after his brother switched nationality.

In July this year, Inaki Williams decided to switch nationality to play for Ghana after turning down Ghana several times and making a single appearance for Spain.

In an interview ahead of the friendlies, Enrique revealed his decision to call up Nico while rejecting claims of trying to block a possible move to switch to Ghana.

“I’m not doing this to stop him from going with Ghana; he’s young and a very interesting player,” he said as quoted by the Guardian.

Spain has a habit of acting fast on players who have dual nationality and can represent other nations as was the case of Munir El Hadadi in 2014.

El Haddadi was born in Spain to a Moroccan father and played for the European country’s U19 and U21 teams before he was handed a call-up to the senior side in 2014.

He made just a single appearance for Spain playing against Macedonia in a Uefa Euro 2016 qualifier and featured for only 13 minutes in the encounter.

It had to take a FIFA rule change for him to feature for Morocco due to that 13 minutes of football he played for Spain in 2014.

Wolves winger Adama Traore was also in line to play for Mali before Spain called him in order to prevent him from representing Mali.

Asante Kotoko announce reduced gate fees for Hearts of Oak clash on Sunday

Football fans who intend to watch the Super Clash between Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday, April 24, have been informed about how much it will cost them to view the match from the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Asante Kotoko, the home club for the match have announced the gate fees for the game on Sunday.

To sit at the ‘Popular Stand’, a fan would have part with GH₵10 while those who will watch from the Centre Line will pay GH₵20.

The Wings of the stadium have been priced at GH₵30 whiles the VIP is pegged at GH₵50.

The match will be Asante Kotoko’s first match of the season following their engagement in the CAF Champions League.

Following their embarrassing exit from the Champions League, Kotoko will be hell-bent on picking a win to bring some joy to their fans.

Hearts of Oak, on the other hand, will be playing their third game of the 2022/2023 season. The Phobians lost and drew their opening two matches against Aduana Stars and Accra Great Olympics respectively.

‘I am ready to show Ghanaians what I can do’ – Antoine Semenyo

Bristol City striker, Antoine Semenyo says he is eager to feature for the Black Stars against Brazil.

The England-born striker made his debut for the four-time champions against Madagascar in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in June.

The young forward has been named in Ghana’s squad for the friendly games against the five-time world champions and Nicaragua.

With the Black Stars set to take on Brazil on Friday at the Le Harve in France, Semenyo says he is ready to show Ghanaians what he can offer the national team.

According to him, he is eager to feature and score when given the opportunity.

“I am happy obviously being with the team again. I went back, unfortunately, because of an injury but it’s good to be back. I am ready to show Ghanaians what I can do so I am ready and raring to go,” he told ghanafa.org

“I am carrying that firing edge so when I get a chance I know I will score and make the country proud so I am just waiting for my opportunity again,” he added.

Semenyo will be hoping to get his opportunity when the Black Stars take on Nicaragua on Tuesday, September 27 in Lorca in Spain.

The games form part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar later this year.

Playing against Brazil will let us know our level – Ghana coach George Boateng

Assistant coach of the Black Stars George Boateng believes the friendly against a star-studded Brazil side on Friday will give the team an idea of their current level.

Both teams have qualified for the 2022 World Cup which is set to later take place in Qatar in November.

Ghana and Brazil will face off in Le Havre, France in the final international window before the Mundial as the two teams look to continue preparations.

It is a David vs Goliath affair with the five-time world champions who are currently ranked number 1 coming up against a Ghana side ranked 60th and is going through transition with young coaches.

Speaking in an interview with Joy Sports, Boateng said the whole team is looking forward to the prospect of facing the World Cup favourites.

“For us, it’s beautiful to play these [friendly games]. You’re playing against the world No.1 [in Brazil], what a challenge, what a prospect to look forward to.

As a coach, you want to test yourself against the best but I can also say the players will want to test themselves against the best.”

There is a chance that this fixture could be repeated in Qatar with Brazil expected to top Group G. In that scenario, Ghana finishing second in Group H means they will face the Seleção in the round of 16.

It is one of the many reasons why Boateng believes the team has to motivate themselves to play well because it can inform them of their development in the past few months.

“So playing against Brazil is a game that you don’t need motivation for. You’ll more than motivated to go out there and perform.

Also, it will give us a good indication of the level that we are at. The players individually, collectively and as a group of staff with the players,” the former Aston Villa U23 coach added.

Ghana will play Nicaragua in Spain four days after facing Brazil. Boateng admits they will provide a different type of test but it is still a learning process for the team.

“Nicaragua will be a different challenge because they are not so highly ranked as Brazil but the danger in that is sometimes players then become complacent thinking this will be an easier game but there is no such thing as easy games.”

GFA to reallocate World Cup Match Tickets

The Ghana Football Association have announced that it will soon reallocate tickets for the World Cup, Qatar 2022.

Premier League clubs, Division One League clubs, Women’s Premier League clubs, Regional Football Associations and other members of the football family who were allocated tickets have until Sunday, September 25, 2022 to pay for match tickets.

The GFA indicated that should the members allocated with tickets fail to pay on Sunday, the Association will reallocate the tickets to other members of the football family who have expressed interest to buy the tickets.

The senior national team, the Black Stars will be in Qatar for the 2022 edition of the FIFA World Cup which will be staged from November 20 to December 18, 2022.

The Black Stars are in Group H alongside Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.
