VIDEO: Ghana defender Ibrahim Imoro scores stunning freekick to inspire Al Hilal to victory

Former Asante Kotoko defender Ibrahim Imoro scored his very first goal in the Sudanese Premier League for giants Al Hilal Omdurman on Monday.

The defending champions rallied from a goal down to claim a 2-1 victory against Alfalah Atbra at the end of the match.

Alfalah opened the scoring of the match just four minutes into the second period following a swift counter attacking football.

Imoro put Al Hilal on level pegging in the 59th minute after scoring a trademark stunning freekick from the edge of the box.

Congolese forward Glody Lilepo Makabi converted a penalty kick moments later to put Al Hilal in front for the first time in the game.

The Omdurman club scored again through Walid Altorah but was ruled out for offside five minutes from the final whistle.

The highly-rated left-back who joined Al Hilal from Kotoko for a fee around US$150,000 has been immense for the club with his splendid performances.

He played a significant role when the Sudanese champions booked their place in the CAF Champions League group stages.

Chairman of the National Chapters Committee of Accra Hearts of Oak Elvis Herman Hesse says no one is bigger than the club including Board Chairman Togbe Afede.

His comment comes in the wake of the seeming impasse between the supporters and the board after the Phobians poor showing got them eliminated by Malian side Real Bamako in the CAF confederations cup preliminary stages.

Management of the club has come under a barrage of criticism for overseeing yet another disastrous campaign in Africa coupled with the clubs poor start to the suspended Ghana premier league

Some irate supporters nearly attacked some management members just on the heels of their game against Real Bamako – calling for the exits of Vincent Sowah Odotei and Alhaji Akambi

But board chairman Togbe Afede has affirmed his confidence in duo which has not gone down well with majority of the supporters.

“The NCC supports Accra Hearts of Oak and not individuals and we must also admit that the club is very big and bigger than all of us,” Elvis Herman Hesse told Untoldstories TV GH.

“Infact it is even bigger than the board chairman himself. We also know that everybody shall pass and maybe Accra Hearts of Oak alone will remain and so we don’t target individuals.”

“When it doesn’t go well we the supporters speak our minds but not because we don’t like some body, ” he added.

Hearts of Oak legend, Laryea Kingston has urged the club’s new head coach, Slavko Matic to implement his philosophy as quickly as possible.

Matic replaced Samuel Boadu who guided the Phobians to a domestic treble last two seasons plus another FA Cup last term and a President’s Cup.

Laryea Kingston, who once played for the 21 time Ghana champions, spoke to Gold Talk Sport.

“Make sure that you bring your attacking philosophy as soon as possible and your defensive philosophy as soon as possible.

“It is going to be a little bit tough for them but you make it simple and make sure you give players responsibilities when we attack, when we are on the ball and when we are off the ball, you give players responsibilities.

“You make things simple for them and then slowly they get used to what you are bringing on board.

“So I think it’s going to be tough for every coach but if I’m there, the moment I get the opportunity, I will quickly bring my attacking philosophy.

“I know it will be tough for the players, some of them the understanding will take time, but this is where we are.” Laryea Kingston told Radio Gold Talk Sport.

Check Out Black Stars’ predicted provisional squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup

The Black Stars of Ghana are amongst 32 teams to feature at the 2022 World Cup which is set to kick off on Sunday, November 20, 2022.

Head Coach of the team, Otto Addo is expected to release his final squad for the tournament by the close of Sunday, November 13. Before then, Otto Addo must submit a provisional squad of 35-55 players by Friday, October 21.

Ahead of the submission, here are some predictions on who could make the squad based on the recent call-ups, form, injury news and reports.

The squad is expected to be dominated by players who were called up for the recent friendly games against Brazil and Nicaragua.

The likes of Andre Ayew, Thomas Partey, Joseph Wollacott, Daniel Kofi Kyereh, Baba Rahaman, Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Salisu, Daniel Amartey, Alexander Djiku, Mohammed Kudus and so on are expected to make the squad.

Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, Elisha Owusu, Antoine Semenyo, Stephen Ambrosius, Patric Pfeiffer and Ransford Yeboah Koningsdorffer who switched allegiance to represent Ghana earlier this year are all expected to make the squad.

The fourth Gameweek of the 2022/23 Access Division One League brought us enthralling results across the various zones and match centers.

In Zone One A, Wa Suntaa were 2-1 away winners against Kumbung Binbiem. Debibi United bounced back to winning ways, beating Kassena Nankana 2-0. Steadfast scored in either half to beat Maana FC 2-0. At the Ohene Ameyaw Park, Eleven Wonders defeated Wa Yaasin 3-1.

In Zone One B, Mohammed Hakim scored the only goal of the game to earn Young Apostles a 1-0 win against Baffour Academy, their 4th win from 4 games. Berekum Arsenal suffered their 4th defeat of the season, losing 2-1 to Nkoranza Warriors. Bofoakwa Tano recorded a 1-0 away win against Unity FC, B.A United and Mighty Royals drew scoreless.

In Zone Two, New Edubiase and Nations FC played a cagey scoreless draw. A 15th minute Awudu Mohammed goal earned WAFA a 1-0 win against Holy Stars. In Ejisu, Asokwa Deportivo and Asekem played an entertaining 2-2 draw. Swedru All Blacks defeated Future Stars 1-0.

At the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium, Kenpong Academy recorded a shocking 2-1 away win against Ebusua Dwarfs. Skyy won 2-0 against Sefwi All Stars and Pacific Heroes played 1-1 against Nzema Kotoko. The final game of the round between Soccer Intellectuals and Elmina Sharks will be played on Monday.

In Zone Three, a late ‪Ayara Sadat‬ goal earned Heart of Lions a 1-0 win against Volta Rangers in the Volta derby. Rences and Uncle T drew scoreless. Frank Abora Duku came from the bench to score a late equalizer for Vision against Susubiribi, 1-1. Koforidia Semper recorded a 2-0 home win against Mighty Jets.

Tema Youth’s poor start to the season continued as they lost 2-0 at home to Attram De Visser. Akatsi All Stars edged Golden Kicks, 1-0. Liberty Professionals and Nania FC played a barren draw. On Monday, Na God will host Krystal Palace at El-Wak.

2023 U-23 AfconQ: Daniel Afriyie Barnieh’s brace hands Black Meteors advantage ahead of 2nd leg

Ghana gained an advantage in the first leg of the second round of the U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifications on Sunday afternoon after beating Mozambique.

The Black Meteors recorded a deserving 2-1 triumph at the Estadio National de Zimpeto in Maputo.

Hearts of Oak talisman Daniel Afriyie Barnieh got both goals to inspire Ibrahim Tanko’s to the victory.

Tanko named a very solid starting lineup to face the Mambas with players like Ibrahim Danlad, Barnieh, Dominic Nsobila, Suraj Seidu and Samuel Abbey Ashie-Quaye.

Meteors dominated the first department of the match and created a couple of chances but couldn’t get any of them at the back of the net.

Ghana got the breakthrough in the 63rd minute of the match after Barnieh converted a penalty kick to put the Meteors in the lead.

The Mambas came very close to getting the equaliser moments later by goalkeeper Danlad made a stupendous save to deny the hosts.

Meteors doubled their advantage in the 75th minute after Barnieh converted another penalty kick.

The home side pulled one back in the latter stages of the game.

The second leg of the tie will take place at the Babayara Stadium in Kumasi next week.

“Getting Black Stars call-up depends on who you know”-Ghanaian defender Fard Ibrahim

FC Isloch defender, Fard Ibrahim disclosed that a significant factor in being chosen for Ghana’s national squad, the Black Stars, is “who you know.”

The Belarus-based player hopes to represent Ghana at the senior level but is concerned that his performance alone won’t be enough to get him a call-up.

According to him, he would not hesitate to switch nationality if he gets the opportunity.

“Of course, there is such a desire. But if I am now offered to play for the national team of Belarus or some other country, I will answer with my consent,” he told Betera.

“It is not so easy to get into the national team of Ghana. A lot depends on who you know. Do you understand what I want to say? There are many players who show a high level, but they have no chance to be in the national team. Everything is about connections. This is Ghanaian football,” he added. 4

The ex-Inter Allies player joined Isloch in March on a three-year deal. He has made 12 appearances this season for his side.

Ibrahim was part of Ghana’s U-20 team at the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in 2019 in Niger.

Match-day 4 of the 2022/23 Ghana Division One League commenced on Saturday afternoon with some intriguing action across the venues.


The Young Apostles continued their impressive performance in the ongoing league by picking up their fourth straight win in four matches.

Abdul Hakim Mohammed’s 7th minute strike earned all three points for Young Apostles against Baffour Academy at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

Berekum Arsenals suffered another defeat after losing 1-2 to Nkoranza Warriors. Kwasi Ofosu scored twice for the Warriors with his 4th and 5th goals of the season. PrinceBall Mensah bagged the consolation for Berekum Arsenal in the 90th minute.

At the Ejisu Okese Park, Pacific Heroes were held in a 1-1 stalemate by Nzema Kotoko. Frank Agyemang scored for Pacific Heroes before Peter Ernest equalised for Nzema Kotoko in the 90th minute.

New Edubiase United were held to a 0-0 stalemate by Nations FC at the Len Clay Stadium.


In Zone 3, Liberty Professionals were held in a 0-0 draw by visiting Nania FC at the Fred Crenstil Park, while A5 Rences also played a goalless draw with Uncle T United at the Tema Sports Stadium.

The match between Na God FC and Krystal Palace at the El-Wak Stadium has been rescheduled from Saturday, October 22, to Monday, October 24, 2022.


The rest of the matches in all the zones will be played on Sunday.
