Barcelona sporting director Jordi Cruyff confirmed he has been impressed with the performances of Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus at the World Cup.

However, the Ajax player is not being contemplated as an immediate signing by Barça, Cruyff was keen to stress.

“I saw him play a year ago and have followed his progress at Ajax,” Cruyff explained to RAC1. “But we’re not at the point of saying ‘Barca want this player,’ not at all. 

“He is a player that has caught the attention with his performances and goals at the World Cup. He’s caught my attention, especially because there is a debate in the Netherlands about his position, whether he’s an advanced midfielder or a forward.” 

Cruyff added that Barça are not currently in a position to afford any signings in January, anyway.

“Right now we cannot sign in January,” he added. “The fair play situation has changed for a cumulation of reasons. 

“It is not a question of if a player goes it is all solved, either. There are different solutions. But we are clear what we want to do if we can sign in January.” 

Ghana’s main man at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Mohammed Kudus has given an assurance that the Black Stars are up for the clash against Uruguay later this week.

After beating South Korea 3-2 in Group H on Monday, the youngster says all attention has been shifted to the final group game against the two-time World Champions.

“We are approaching one game at a time and we got the three points today and the focus is on Uruguay so we go with the same mentality and the same attitude and I know everyone is up for it. Now we just recover and rest up very well and get ready for the next game,” Mohammed Kudus said in a post-match interview with FIFA.

Following a stellar performance against South Korea, the Ghana star was named Man of the Match.

After receiving the award, the Ajax attacker refused to take all the applause but credited his Black Stars teammates for a very good performance to secure the important victory.

“I think I will give it [MoTM award] to everyone. I think the players on the pitch and on the bench, everyone played a part so I think it’s a collective trophy. I think everyone played their part for us to win the game today,” Mohammed Kudus stressed.

Ghana now has three points from two games at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Black Stars lost the first group game to Portugal before bouncing back to defeat South Korea.

The final Group H match against South Korea is scheduled to be played on Friday, December 2.

The Black Stars must avoid a defeat to stand a chance of progressing to the knockout stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

La Liga giant, Real Madrid, is said to be interested in Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus.

The World Cup star could be making a move to the Spanish La Liga from Ajax after the World Cup tournament ends on December 18.

Following Kudus’ outstanding display so far at the World Cup, the 22-year-old is apparently being watched by the reigning champions of Spain and Europe.

Given that he assisted Ghana in defeating South Korea on Monday, the Ajax star is, without a doubt, one of Ghana’s outstanding talents.

We recall that Kudus’ significant contribution helped Otto Addo’s men secure their first win at the 2022 World Cup tournament following their first defeat against Portugal.

In Ghana’s second game against South Korea, the Accra native bagged a brace which made his performance a hot topic in all headlines.

According to a report made via Twitter by a Global transfer expert, Ekrem Konur, Kudus’ performance has drawn the Interest of the Los Blancos.

Konur wrote: “Real Madrid is monitoring the situation of Ajax’s 22-year-old Ghanaian star Mohamed Kudus”

More from the report claims that the Spanish giants have sent scouts to keep a close eye on the talent during Ghana’s last World Cup group match in Qatar.

The Ghanaians who are raging for revenge will lock horns with Uruguay, and a victory or potential draw should enable them to advance to the round of 16.

Former Black Stars player Sulley Ali Muntari has announced his retirement from football at age 38.

“I’m done, I just did a few months with the local side. My son wanted me to play. I didn’t play for almost three years then my son decided to ask me to go and play. I did that,” he told Sky Sports on Tuesday November 29.

Muntari has been playing professionally since 2002 and believes the time is right to quit. He last played for Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak, helping them win the FA Cup in his only season at the club.

“I’m done! I just did a few months with the local side. My son wanted me to play. I didn’t play for almost three years. Then my son decided to ask me to go and play. I did that,” Muntari told Sky Sports.

Muntari is in Qatar, supporting the Black Stars in the 2022 World Cup. He was spotted pitch side motivating the players before Monday’s 3-2 win against South Korea.

Muntari started his impressive career at Liberty Professional and rose to become one of Ghana’s best midfielders, contributing immensely to the Black Stars’ first World Cup appearance in 2006.

Muntari appeared in three World Cup finals and is one of three players to score in multiple World Cup games for Ghana. The others are Asamoah Gyan and Andre Ayew.
