Champions Asante Kotoko have a date with Berekum Chelsea – at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday as the battle to retain their League title continues. The Champions are in desperate need of the points following the 2-1 loss to Real Tamale United on Matchday 8 at the Aliu Mahama stadium.

Whiles Berekum Chelsea’s Christopher Ennin would heavily rely on will on the competitions top scorer Mezack Afriyie (six goals), Awuah Dramani, Lord Amoah and shot stopper Obeng Sekyere Gregory.

Aduana Stars extended its lead on top of the table with a 1-0 win against Great Olympics at the WAFA park in Sogakope.

An own goal by Raymond Oko Grippman saw Yaw Preko’s side lose back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Aduana Stars ended the first half with a 1-0 lead kind courtesy of Oko Grippman’s own goal in the 35th minute.

After recess, Olympics playing away from home made some incursions on getting the equalizer but the Aduana Stars defense were up to the task.

The win sees Aduana Stars extend its lead on the league table with 19 points after match day nine.

Great Olympics have dropped to the sixth position on 14 points after matchday nine.

The striker took advantage of a blunder by Nsoatreman goalkeeper Daniel Afadzwu, who failed miserably to clear the ball after leaving his area. Junior calmly slotted the ball into the net to give Hearts the lead in the 54th minute.

Until then, it had been fairly even, with both sides vying for the points. Nsoatreman had the support of their fans, but the goal dashed their hopes and propelled the Phobians to their fourth win in six games.

With the win, Slavko Matic maintains his unbeaten record as manager of Hearts of Oak. The Serb has moved Hearts of Oak from the bottom half of the log to second place, and they hope to climb further.

Nsoatreman are still seventh, but that could change depending on the results of other games on Wednesday.
