Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been granted conditional bail after being charged with multiple sexual offences.
The 32-year-old Ghanaian appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, facing five counts of rape involving two women, and one count of sexual assault against a third. The alleged incidents took place between 2021 and 2022 while Partey was playing for Arsenal.
He was charged days after his contract with the club expired at the end of June.
Partey confirmed his name and acknowledged his bail terms in court, which prevent him from contacting the complainants and require him to notify police of any travel or change of address.
The case follows an investigation launched in February 2022.
Partey, who joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020, is due to appear at the Old Bailey on 2 September. His lawyer says he strongly denies all charges and intends to clear his name.
Asante Kotoko have announced the signing of Guinean forward Morifing Donzo on a three-year deal, following the successful completion of his medical.
The deal is subject to the approval of his work permit.

Donzo stands at 1.82m and is known for his strength, pace, and ability to play across the front line.
Primarily a centre forward, he is equally comfortable operating on either wing and offers Kotoko added firepower going into the new season.
Speaking to Kotoko media, Donzo said, “I was eager to make this move last season, but sometimes football doesn’t go the way you plan. Better late than never. I’ve spoken with Amos Frimpong who was always convincing me to come, I have also spoken with Mo (Camara) and Joe (Ablorh) and both had nothing but positive things to say about the club. I’m here now, ready to give everything, and make a name for myself in front of these fans.”

The proposal to change the limit on the terms of office of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) President from the two four-year terms to three is selfish, immoral, and irresponsible. It is an ill-conceived agenda to serve the parochial interests of the present administration, not least Kurt Okraku, the President, who will be the chief beneficiary if the proposal is accepted.
That explains my point about selfishness. It is immoral because some of the elements behind this proposal vehemently opposed ex-GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi’s firm grip on power and desperately wanted him out after 13 years in office. Today, some of the same people want to elongate their stay in office from eight to 12 years.
Never trust human nature for our nature is patently corrupt. The actions of those fronting this proposal smack of hypocrisy, double standard, and for that reason, their motives must be questioned. The term-limit extension is couched under the pretext of aligning it with that of FIFA, which is three four-year terms.
On the surface, it appears reasonable because if the President of the parent body of world football has a maximum of 12 years in office, there may be nothing wrong with a member association’s president having the same number of years in office. Do not be deceived, however. The quest for changing the GFA’s Presidential term limit has other undertones than the surface level evidence.
The current administration mooted this term limit elongation before they would even exhaust their legally mandated first term. That is irresponsible. Which responsible leadership conceives a constitutional amendment, especially on term limits when their original, initial term of office has not ended?
Ghana football suffered from the unprofitable, football corruption exposé #12. Our game has gone through a checkered path. How to straighten out that path does not include officers of the GFA extending their power beyond what is already there. Our football needs visionary, selfless leaders who will exit responsibly when their tenure ends – not power drunks who stay on through a so-called constitutional change.
Ghana football bleeds for stronger governance systems – structures that will outlive individuals who lead the association anytime. Football people must think about the greater good of the game, not about themselves. That is one way to develop the game. And that is how organisations like the GFA also are built.
Institutions excel when structures are allowed to grow with their flaws and with time, identifiable faults are chopped off. This one is too early. October will be six years since the Kurt ensemble assumed office. Whatever governance systems or structures they have installed, six to eight years are not enough to accurately assess those structures.
Men of conviction must reject the selfishly conceived proposal. I do not have so much hope in Congress of the GFA though. I am however confident of one thing which is that, whatever happens to this proposal, posterity will be the best judge and may it be kind to us, including those who condemned some for holding unto their constitutional mandate in the past but today are zealously urging others to stay on beyond their original schedule via a supposed legal route.
Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Justice Blay has opened up about his exit from the club and made several shocking claims about life in the team’s camp during his time there.
Speaking on Pure FM, Blay revealed that he sensed he was no longer in the club’s plans even before management officially informed him.
“I knew I was not going to be part of Kotoko’s team. I sensed it during our camp ahead of the MTN FA Cup game against Golden Kick FC. I was later called into a meeting and told that I am no longer in the plans of the club. The explanation they gave was that they are not only looking at performance,” he stated.
He added that he overheard a private conversation between Nana Apinkra and coach Kwesi Appiah, where one of them was heard saying, “I like Kwame,” which further confirmed his suspicion that sides has been taken.
But beyond football, Blay also addressed accusations about his off-field lifestyle, particularly claims that he was a heavy drinker.
“People have been misinformed that I’m the only drunkard in the club, but that’s not true,” he said. He named teammates Joseph Ablor and Guinea import Camara Mohammed as players who, according to him, also engaged in smoking ‘Shisha’.
Blay also revealed some dramatic personal conflicts within the team. He alleged that Camara Mohammed snatched his girlfriend, which even led to a police case during a confrontation between me and the lady, and Kwame Poku also betrayed him by taking over his ‘sugar mummy’.
“That’s where I even assaulted the security man at the club house because of the tension,” he confessed. I am clarifying this because it has been twisted.
Justice Blay and Kotoko mutually agreed to terminate his contract after the 2024/25 season, despite him having one more year remaining.
Tottenham Hotspur have officially confirmed the signing of Ghana international Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United.
The 24-year-old forward has agreed a long-term contract with the North London side and will wear the number 20 jersey, the club announced on Thursday evening.
The move is subject to the completion of a work permit.
“We are delighted to announce the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United,” said the club in a statement confirming the deal.
Kudus arrives at Spurs after a two-year spell at West Ham, where he scored 19 goals in 80 appearances across all competitions. His standout performances included a solo strike against SC Freiburg, which earned him West Ham’s Goal of the Season award and a Fifa Puskás Award nomination.
The playmaker began his professional career with FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark after graduating from the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana. He later joined Dutch giants Ajax, where he won multiple Eredivisie titles and gained Uefa Champions League experience.
Kudus becomes the latest addition to Tottenham’s squad for the 2025/26 campaign and is expected to bring attacking flair, versatility, and creativity under new head coach Thomas Frank.
On the international stage, Kudus has earned 42 caps for Ghana and has scored 12 goals since making his debut in 2019. He featured at both the 2022 Fifa World Cup and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).
Gold Stars kept their Premier League title hopes alive with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park, setting the stage for a nail-biting final day of the season.
In a five-goal spectacle, Abdul Farouk Amoaful’s brace and a strike from Foster Agyei secured the all-important three points for the visitors despite a double from Berekum Chelsea’s talisman, Stephen Amankona.
Amankona, the league’s top scorer with 15 goals, opened the scoring in the 8th minute. However, the lead was short-lived as Agyei equalised just five minutes later. Gold Stars then took control, with Amoaful netting twice in quick succession in the 22nd and 23rd minutes to hand the Miners a commanding 3-1 lead. Amankona added his second of the day in the 53rd minute to reduce the deficit, but it was not enough to deny the determined visitors.
The victory propels Gold Stars level on points with Nations FC at the top of the table, with the title set to be decided on the final day of the campaign.
However, Nations FC’s away encounter with Basake Holy Stars ended in controversy. The match was abandoned after Nations FC walked off in protest while trailing, putting the final outcome under review and potentially impacting the title race.
Asante Kotoko bolstered their top-four ambitions with a 3-2 win over Medeama SC at the Baba Yara Stadium. Albert Amoah was the hero for the Porcupine Warriors, registering a sensational hat-trick to take his season tally to 12 goals.
Medeama had taken an early lead through Kingsley Braye, but Amoah responded in style with goals in the 24th, 41st, and 78th minutes. Manuel Mantey briefly drew Medeama level at 2-2, but Amoah’s third sealed the win for Kotoko, who now sit third with 58 points—just two behind the top two.
In Kpando, Heart of Lions continued their impressive home form with a 2-1 victory over Bechem United. Kwesi Pong gave the hosts the lead in the 10th minute, with Seedorf Asante doubling the advantage midway through the second half. Bechem’s Nanji Zoumana Traore scored a late consolation, but Lions held firm to stay fourth and in contention for a top-four finish.
Karela United gave their survival hopes a major boost with a commanding 3-0 win over relegation rivals Young Apostles. Goals from Abdul Latif, Malik Abubakar, and John Anane ensured a vital three points for the “Pride and Passion,” who now sit 14th with 38 points—three clear of the relegation zone. Young Apostles remain 13th with 40 points, just two ahead of Karela.
FC Samartex 1996 produced late drama at the Nsenkyire Arena, defeating Aduana Stars 2-1 thanks to a stoppage-time winner from Isaac Afful. Baba Musah Hamadu gave Samartex an early lead, but Aduana equalised through Kelvin Obeng. With the match heading for a draw, Afful’s last-gasp strike secured all three points. Samartex sit sixth with 51 points, while Aduana are in 10th.
Accra Lions’ top-flight status is in serious jeopardy after a 2-0 home defeat to Dreams FC. Second-half goals from Abdul Razak Salifu and Aziz Misbau condemned Lions to their 16th loss of the campaign, leaving them 16th with 35 points, three adrift of safety. They now face a must-win clash away to Gold Stars on the final day.
Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak saw off already-relegated Legon Cities with a comfortable 2-0 win at the University of Ghana Stadium. Kwabena Boateng struck in the 20th minute, with Michael Mensah Awuah adding a second shortly after the break. The Phobians are now fifth, just two points behind Heart of Lions, and will need a win on the final day and a slip-up from Lions to break into the top four.
As the curtain draws on a captivating 2024–25 Premier League season, everything remains up for grabs at both ends of the table with the title, top-four spots, and relegation all to be decided on the final day.
Crystal Palace won the first major trophy in the club’s history with victory against Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
Eberechi Eze was Palace’s hero when he crowned a superb counter-attack by sweeping home Daniel Munoz’s cross after 16 minutes.
City, meanwhile, endured a day of total frustration as they failed to win a trophy in a season for the first time since manager Pep Guardiola’s first campaign in charge in 2016-17.
They were furious when Palace keeper Dean Henderson was not shown a red card when he handled outside his area under pressure from Erling Haaland in the first half, the video assistant referee (VAR) adjudging that City’s striker was moving away from goal and therefore not denied a clear opportunity.
Henderson then emerged as Palace’s hero when he saved Omar Marmoush’s penalty after 36 minutes following Tyrick Mitchell’s foul on Bernardo Silva, Haaland stepping aside from spot-kick duties after failing with three of his past seven attempts.
City dominated possession but Oliver Glasner’s side defended magnificently, with Henderson outstanding, saving from Haaland, Josko Gvardiol and Jeremy Doku in the first half, then denying Claudio Echeverri after the break.
The final whistle sparked scenes of ecstasy among Palace fans as the long wait for success was over for the Eagles.
Ghana narrowly beat Central African Republic 1-0 in their final group game of the ongoing U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Thursday.
The win means Ghana is a step away from securing qualification to the continental showpiece, which is expected to take place in Chile in September.
The Black Satellites, who have not participated at the World Cup since 2015, created clear-cut opportunities in the opening half, but struggled to convert their chances.
Aziz Issah was afforded the biggest opportunity of the half when he beat C.A.R’s defence but failed to divert lofted attempt goalwards.
The persistency of the Black Satellites paid off in the second half, seven minutes from time, when Joseph Opoku shrugged off three challenges before slotting his finish past the onrushing C.A.R goalkeeper.
Ghana now lead the way in Group C with seven points and are scheduled to face the third-placed team in group A or B.
As it stands, Zambia, Group A, and Tunisia, occupy the third-placed spots and will likely lock horns with Ghana.
Ghana’s Abdul Aziz Issah was named man of the match after const antly running rings around C.A.R’s defence.
“It was a difficult game, but we needed a point to top the group,” Aziz said.
Ghana, who won the 2009 U20 World Cup and are four-time winners of the U20 AFCON competition, will be hoping to secure a fifth title.
