Coach Abdul Gazale has named Asante Kotoko’s squad list for their Ghana Premier League outstanding fixture with city rivals King Faisal on Wednesday evening.

The matchday 21 clash was initially scheduled for March 21 but had to be postponed due to Black Stars’ game against Angola.

Goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim has returned to the squad after returning from the national t2am duties.

The game will kick off at 7 pm at the Baba Yara Sports stadium.

Old rivals Asante Kotoko and King Faisal are set to face off in their outstanding betPawa Premier League game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday.

Asante Kotoko, the league champions, who scored four goals against Real Tamale United on Sunday, will be looking to close the six-point gap between them and leaders Aduana FC. The Porcupine Warriors have not lost a game since the departure of former Burkina Faso trainer Seydou Zerbo.

Asante Kotoko seem to have regained their form and will have the likes of Isaac Oppong and Serge Eric Zeze back from injury. Danlad Ibrahim is expected to start as goalkeeper after returning from international duty with the Black Meteors.

King Faisal, on the other hand, are fighting to avoid relegation, sitting in 13th place with 31 points. The team has been inconsistent throughout the season despite three changes to their technical set-up. Former player Godwin Ablordey has replaced Jimmy Cobblah as coach and led them to two successive victories.

Asante Kotoko defeated King Faisal 3-0 in the first round of the season, and both sides will be looking to earn points in their Wednesday encounter. The game will be broadcast live on StarTimes Adepa channel 247.

After Ashanti Gold FC filed a contempt case against Executive Council Members of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), a High Court in Accra has found GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo and non-Executive Council Member Sheikh Tophic Sienu guilty.

They have been sentenced to a day in prison and fined 2000 penalty units, amounting to GHC 24,000 each.

Meanwhile, the court has acquitted and discharged 12 other defendants, including GFA President Kurt Okraku.

The contempt case was filed because the Executive Council Members commenced the 2022/2023 Betpawa Premier League despite an interlocutory injunction, and Ashanti Gold FC accused them of disregarding the court’s authority.

Domesticsportsgh.com has reported that Medeama SC is closely monitoring the progress of David Cobbinah, the captain of Nzema Kotoko, for a potential transfer.

Cobbinah, a skilled midfielder, has been in fantastic form throughout the current Ghana football season, attracting the interest of several top clubs, including Medeama SC.

According to recent reports from Samreboi, officials from Samartex are also interested in recruiting the youngster and are planning to send a scout to assess his performance in the remaining games of the season.

Cobbinah joined Nzema Kotoko from Proud United in the 2020/21 season.

Reports from Domesticsportsgh.com indicate that Richard Baidoo, the goalkeeper for Samartex 1996, has reportedly switched his nationality from Ghana to Liberia.

Baidoo’s parentage is Ghanaian and Liberian, which qualifies him to represent either country.

However, the former Hearts of Oak and Karela United goalkeeper has allegedly decided to play for the Liberian national team, the Lone Stars, due to his belief that his prospects of playing for the Black Stars are slim.

A recent post on his official Facebook page has fueled these speculations.

Abednego Tetteh continued his outstanding goal scoring form in 2023 as he scored a brace to help Bibiani Gold Stars beat Legon Cities 3-2 at DUN’s Park on Monday.

The former Bechem United and Al Hilal forward got off to a great start with a 1^st minute strike after tapping in Gyamfi Kamara’s pass from close range. The lead was short lived as Ebenezer Amergah pulled parity for Legon Cities in the 10^th minute.

The visitors added to the tally six minutes later through Eric Osei Bonsu. The winger smashed home a delightful cross from Joseph Mireku to beat goalkeeper Joseph Baah for Legon Cities’ second goal.

Bibiani Gold Stars did not give up the fight as Charles Gyamfi Kamara drew them level in the 24^th minute mark. The speedster got on the end of Emmanuel Appau’s cross to head home for the equalizer.

Legon Cities grew in confidence after their second goal but the home side were bent on securing the three points to keep their Top four aspirations alive. The third goal arrived in the 39^th minute when Abednego Tetteh arrived in the box to connect Prince Owusu’s inviting cross for his 10th goal of the season.

Tetteh has scored eight times since his switch from King Faisal in the January transfer window.

Legon Cities put up a plucky fight in the second half in search of another goal but the backline of Gold Stars kep their composure and discipline as they held on to win 3-2 at DUN’s Park.

The win takes Gold Stars to the 7th position with 38 points while Legon Cities remain in the relegation zone with 28 points – three points from safety.

Maxwell Agyemang, a defender for Asante Kotoko, has expressed his ambition to become one of the top players for his team. Despite being sidelined due to injuries recently, Agyemang made a second-half appearance as a substitute in Kotoko’s 4-0 victory over Real Tamale United.

Agyemang had become a starter under sacked Seydou Zerbo after Yusif Mubarik’s injury. In the game against RTU, he replaced Sheriff Mohammed, who suffered an injury in the second half.

After the match, the towering defender expressed his excitement at returning to the field and thanked the club’s supporters for their unwavering support during his challenging times on the sidelines. He stated that he was back on his feet and ready to fight for the club of the century, Kotoko SC.

“That feeling and the Excitement of coming back, it’s Marvelous!!.Much love to the supporters for their encouragement and their patience all this while. Kotoko will face King Faisal on Wednesday at the Baba Yara Stadium in a betPawa Premier League outstanding fixture, and Agyemang is expected to play a vital role in the game.
