Athletic Bilbao secured a 2-1 victory against Espanyol in La Liga on Saturday, with brothers Iñaki and Nico Williams both finding the net.

Although the game was initially challenging for Athletic Bilbao, Iñaki Williams managed to score in the 22nd minute with an excellent long pass from Dani García. To celebrate, the Black Stars striker embraced his brother Nico.

Athletic Bilbao was in control for most of the game, but a defensive error towards the end of the first half resulted in Martin Braithwaite scoring, although VAR ultimately disallowed the goal. In the second half, Athletic Bilbao continued to push for a goal and had several close calls, including a missed opportunity by Iñaki Williams in the 68th minute.

In the 75th minute, Nico Williams came on as a substitute and scored the team’s second goal from a Gorka Guruzeta pass.

Espanyol managed to score a consolation goal in the 90th minute through Sergi Darder.

Hamburger SV’s Ghanaian striker, Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer, came off the bench to score in their commanding 6-1 victory against Hannover 96 in the German Bundesliga 2 on Saturday.

Despite not being a regular starter, Königsdörffer remains an important player for the team, and he was brought on in the 70th minute of the game.

Just six minutes later, he seized an excellent opportunity and scored a fantastic goal to extend Hamburger SV’s lead.

With László Bénes bagging a brace and Sonny Kittel, Robert Glatzel, and Ludovit Reis also getting on the scoresheet, Hamburger SV cruised to a comprehensive victory.

Hearts of Oak emerged victorious in a friendly match against Division One team Na God FC with a 3-2 scoreline at the Pobiman Sports Complex on Saturday. The game served as a warm-up for their upcoming betPawa Premier League Gameweek 26 fixture against Nsoatreman.

David Ocloo’s men displayed their dominance early on, scoring their first goal within the opening 10 minutes through Suraj Seidu. Despite creating more opportunities, Hearts of Oak failed to extend their lead and headed into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.

In the second half, the Hearts of Oak coach made several changes, introducing players such as Richmond Ayi, Samuel Inkoom, Zakari Yakubu, Francis Adjetey, Amankwah Baafi, Linda Mtange, Kwadwo Obeng Jnr, Victor Aidoo, and Albert Dieudonne.

The Phobians doubled their lead in the second half with Linda Mtange heading home a cross from Amankwah Baafi. However, Na God FC quickly retaliated with two goals to level the scores.

In the late stages of the game, Linda Mtange completed his brace, securing a 3-2 win for Hearts of Oak.

Following a goalless draw against Dreams FC in their previous league match, the Phobians are determined to return to winning ways in the betPawa Premier League against Nsoatreman.

Currently, the Premier League team is set to face off against Nsoatreman FC in the quarterfinals of the 2022/23 competition at the Aliu Mahama stadium on Saturday. Real Tamale United is currently in 12th place in the Premier League standings, with 32 points, while Nsoatreman FC, a newly promoted team, is seeking to make their first semifinal appearance in history.

Nsoatreman FC has been performing impressively in this season’s Cup competition, having won against three second-tier teams: Baffuor Soccer Academy, Wamanafo Mighty Royals, and Debibi United. The team started the competition with a 2-1 victory against Baffour Soccer Academy, followed by a 1-0 win against Wamanafo Mighty Royals, and a 7-6 penalty shootout victory against Debibi United after a 2-2 draw in regulation time.

Both teams have a lot at stake, with Nsoatreman FC hoping to boost their confidence by securing a semifinal appearance and protecting their Premier League status, while Real Tamale United aims to make a statement and return to their former glory.

Vincent Kompany’s Burnley secured promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt with victory over fourth-placed Middlesbrough.

The Clarets, unbeaten in the league since November, took an early lead when Ashley Barnes redirected Josh Brownhill’s low shot into the back of the net.

The home side equalised just after half-time when Championship top scorer Chuba Akpom scored from the spot after Josh Cullen felled Cameron Archer in the penalty area.

Connor Roberts steered in the winner from Nathan Tella’s near-post cross and Kompany’s men saw out the rest of the game in comfort to spark wild celebrations on the pitch and among their travelling fans.

Victory for the east Lancashire side sent them 19 points clear of third-placed Luton, who have six games left to play.

Kompany left Belgian top-flight side Anderlecht to take over at Turf Moor after they were relegated on the final day of last season, and the former Manchester City defender has enjoyed a near-flawless first campaign.

Despite a massive turnaround of players in the summer following the end of their six-year spell in the Premier League they have become the first team in the EFL to secure promotion in 2022-23, having been top of the table since 25 October.

The Lancashire side now need just 11 points from their final seven games to secure the title, while 13 will see them become the first Championship team to break the 100-point barrier since Leicester City in 2013-14.

The Clarets host second-placed Sheffield United, the last team to beat them in a league game, on Monday.

Dreams FC secured a place in the semifinals of the 2022/23 MTN FA Cup with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Legon Cities at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu.

The match was a tight affair, with both teams struggling to find the back of the net in regular time. However, Dreams FC came out strong in extra-time and scored the game-winning goal in the 103rd minute through Ebenezer Adade.

Despite a late surge from Legon Cities, Dreams FC held on to their lead and sealed their second consecutive appearance in the semifinals.

The team will now face the winner of the Skyy FC and Ebusua Dwarfs matchup later this month.

Chris Hughton’s four key targets as Black Stars head coach revealed

The Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton, has been given four objectives to achieve by the Ghana Football Association, according to the country’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif.

Speaking at the launch of the 2023 Ramadan Cup, Ussif stated that Hughton has been tasked with leading the team to qualify for the next Africa Cup of Nations, identifying talented players from the local leagues, qualifying for the FIFA World Cup, and improving the country’s FIFA World ranking.

“The objectives are set by the FA for him to ensure that we qualify for AFCON and also to ensure that we identify local talents from our league. To also ensure that we qualify for the World Cup and also to make sure that our ranking in the FIFA Ranking improves. These are the objectives in the contract that he has signed,” Ussif said in an interview with Graphic Sports.

The Minister urged all Ghanaians to support Hughton in accomplishing these goals, expressing his satisfaction with the coach’s early results, including a win and a draw against Angola in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

Hughton, a former Premier League manager, signed a renewable 21-month contract with the Black Stars last month.

Asante Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Amposah has implored the club’s followers to focus on the shared values that bring them together in his wonderful Easter message on Friday, April 7,

The young football administrator candidly acknowledges the recent bad events within the club as he indirectly responded to media claims that a board member of the club allegedly made a tribal remark against the during a recent board meeting.

The club’s senior brass have been very divided on this, and Nana Yaw stresses in his Friday address that Asante Kotoko is a multiracial organization, and that the things that binds them should be greater than those that divides them.

“As the Bible says, a house divided against itself shall not stand. What binds us should be greater than what divides us. We are one people and must learn to agree to disagree,” a portion of the message reads.
