Veteran Ghanaian coach, Mohammed Ahmed Polo, has made it clear that he is not interested in taking up the vacant coaching position at Hearts of Oak.

Instead, he is fully focused on his football Academy, Golden Stars, where he aims to support and nurture young players in pursuit of their dreams.

Following the departure of interim coach David Ocloo, Hearts of Oak is currently without a coach. There were reports that the club was close to appointing Nigerian trainer Paul Aigbogun as the new head coach to replace Slavko Matic.

However, when asked about the possibility of returning to his former club as a coach, Mohammed Polo firmly stated that he has no interest in the position. His current priority lies in discovering, nurturing, and developing talent for local clubs, as he believes the Ghanaian league is in need of top-quality players.

”I’m not interested to coach Hearts, my current concentration is on discovering, nurturing, and developing talent for our clubs. The local league is in disarray, and we require top players”

He further emphasized his commitment to nurturing quality players who can attract attention from other clubs, hoping that his efforts will contribute to the improvement of Ghanaian football.

Hearts of Oak, a club that previously won the Ghana Premier League, has faced struggles recently and finished in 12th position during the 2022/23 league campaign under the coaching of Samuel Boadu.

Sompa Radio/TV’s Sports Analyst, Collins Atta Poku, also known as Bishop, is calling on the Asante Kotoko fraternity to rally behind Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in the quest to restore the Porcupines to their former glory.

Bishop Atta-Poku expressed his belief that the Interim Management Committee (IMC) appointed by the club’s owner and life patron has the capability to rebuild the team, but time is of the essence.

During an appearance on Time FM’s Ama Ghana Morning Show on Monday, July 24, he highlighted the key issue plaguing Kotoko, which is the lack of unity and persistent personal interests.

He pointed out that when the revered Asantehene states that Kotoko is the only institution disgracing him, it underscores the fact that the club’s standing has deteriorated over time.

 “If Asantehene has said Kotoko is the only institution disgracing him then it clearly shows the life of the club is deteriorated.”

With this situation at hand, Bishop Atta-Poku emphasizes the need for all stakeholders, fans, and members of the Kotoko family to come together in support of the IMC’s efforts to rejuvenate the club and return it to its former glorious days.

Asante Kotoko interim management committee (IMC) has been given Gh¢600,000 for player recruitments ahead of 2023/24 league season, according to Oyerepa FM.

This was given to the IMC by Asante Kotoko owner, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to aid in preparations for the upcoming league season.

Former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah will lead the Kotoko recruitments alongside Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum.

The four-member committee was announced by Otumfuo after the dissolution of the immediate-past board members and management team few days ago.

The committee comprised of Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua; the Kontomponiaferehene and a chartered accountant, James Kwesi Appiah, Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum; the newly appointed Kotoko head coach and Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi as the administrative manager.

The committee has been mandated to run the affairs of the club until the administration of the club is restructured following the dissolution of the immediate-past board and management members.

The committee has also been tasked to ensure the club fulfill all the statutory obligations for the Ghana Premier league and prepare a formidable team for next season.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko have re-appointed Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum as new head coach ahead of the 2023/24 league season.

Narteh Ogum has made a return to Asante Kotoko as the head coach after eleven months of leaving the club.

He first joined Asante Kotoko before the start of the 2021/22 league season from West African Football Academy (WAFA).

Ogum led Kotoko to the league trophy that season before leaving the club after several issues with the immediate-past management team led by Nana Yaw Amponsah.

Legon Cities FC have confirmed the appointment of Paa Kwesi Fabin as their new head coach of the team.

Fabin who led Aduana FC last season will be the head of the Royals beginning the upcoming 2023/24 season.

Coach Fabin will begin his new role on Tuesday, August 1, 2023

Deputy CEO of Cities Kwabena Onyina Asenso said expressed the club’s excitement after the appointment.

“We are excited to bring in an experienced coach like Fabin. He is a winner who has coached many big clubs at the highest level. We will provide him all the necessary support to succeed here. We are looking forward to having a wonderful season together.”

The 64-year-old has several seasons of experiences in Ghana with handling clubs like Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, Inter Allies, Hearts of Lions and most recently Aduana Stars.

He handled Ghana Youth sides as well as Uganda’s U-17 and U-20 side.
