Ajax manager Maurice Steijn has dismissed speculation regarding Mohammed Kudus’ potential departure, despite significant interest from multiple clubs vying for the player’s signature.

After delivering impressive performances in both the Eredivisie and the World Cup last season, Kudus has attracted the attention of top European clubs, with Brighton and Hove Albion reportedly at the forefront of the race.

However, as the new season commenced, no concrete agreement has materialized between Kudus and any of the interested parties. The Ghanaian player demonstrated his dedication to Ajax by contributing a goal in their 4-1 victory over Heracles on Saturday.

Addressing the situation after the match, Steijn emphasized that there is currently no substantial evidence to suggest Kudus is on the verge of leaving the club. According to the manager, Kudus remains an integral part of Ajax’s plans for the ongoing season and is fully committed to helping the team achieve its objectives.

“I have read a lot of reports about Kudus this week but there is literally nothing right now that points to him leaving,” Steijn said after Kudus scored in the season opener.

“I spoke to him this week and he is fully focused on Ajax. He is a jewel for Ajax.”

It was reported a few months ago by Dutch media that the former FC Nordsjaelland player had declined a contract extension offer from Ajax, expressing his intention to seek a new club. With two years left on his current contract, which extends until the summer of 2025, Kudus’ future remains a subject of interest.

Ghana international Mohammed Kudus grabbed the headlines once again after scoring in Ajax’s opening game of the 2023/24 Eredivisie season.

The Ghanaian was on target in the 4-1 win at home as Ajax came from behind to beat Heracles Almelo.

Kudus played 90 minutes of the game but it was his second-half performance that saw him get on the lips of everyone.

The attacking midfielder gave Ajax the deserved lead in the 75th minute after being located with a long ball by Benjamin Tahirovic.

Ghanaian prodigy Matthew Anim Cudjoe was the hero for Dundee United once again as he came up with a last-minute equalizer to secure a 1-1 draw against Dunfermline in the Scottish Championship on Saturday afternoon.

After an hour, Craig Wighton’s header from Josh Edwards’ cross gave newly promoted Dunfermline a startling lead.

But in the 95th minute, the young Ghanaian star rifled in the equalizer from outside the box to the bottom right corner, setting off wild celebrations at Tannadice.

This is Cudjoe’s second goal for the team and his first at home for Dundee.
